Thanks. The MG4 V2L on my Essence 64 supplies AC output voltage of ~216 V, which is a bit low (A/NZ standard is 230 V AC). I think it is nominally meant to be 220 V output (which is China's AC voltage standard) but mine was lower than that. I'm using the official MG supplied V2L adapter. Output power will be limited to 2.2 kW using the official MG4 cable and often less because of the low AC output voltage from the on board inverter. The adapter cable and AC output socket are rated for 10 A max (10 A x 216 V = 2.16 kW). It is possible to draw more power using non-standard cables with different resistor values and fatter gauge wire (up to nearly 7 kW) but MG have not published anything about the actual recommended usage or capacity limits. It would be very helpful if they did. I consider the V2L to be a handy source of power when out and about, or as a backup source of energy should you require it, e.g. a grid power outage at home where it can replace a petrol generator as a temporary power source for essential items, or as you show, emergency slow charge of another EV to at least enable them to reach a faster charge station. I plan to use it to power a charger for my home battery should we experience an extended power outage. That way I can draw a steady 1-1.5 kW and not stress anything.
That’s interesting. I didn’t know much about that before. Sorry I’m not that guy who knows everything about the technical details. Not sure if MG or someone else can improve that at this stage.
@@JerryPanandCars It's not a huge deal but I am surprised the output voltage is as low as it is. Whether or not MG can adjust the inverter's output, I've no idea. It's still a handy feature. Just wish they would provide some documentation as the manuals and spec sheet are very skinny on details.
Hi Jerry. Thanks for the video. What happens if you put on too many devices? Will the power trip? What happens if the power trip? Can you show how to reset the fuse? Thanks
Good question. I don't know the exact answer. I assume the vehicle will only offer the max load to the devices. It should not trip the whole vehicle power.
Thanks for the comment. That's not possible. The V2L function is enabled only via a proper V2L cable. A type 2 to type 2 cable can only draw power from a proper charging station or power outlet
Hi Jerry - getting confusing information in Australia about the vehicle to grid/home and whether the 2023 ZS EV will support V2H. Australia will have a standard for V2G and V2H by end of 2024. Will the ZS EV support this? If I were to purchase a bi-directional charger, will the ZS EV put power back into the home/grid? Thank you.
Great video as always Jerry. My 51 Excite battery was at 18% when the house power went out today. I connected my V2L cable to find out that the battery level had to be above 50%. So I was not able to use the v2L. On the discharge screen, I tried to adjust, by sliding, the power level but it would not move. Is the discharge power level adjustable on a 51 Excite?
Thanks for the support. It is not possible to use V2L under 18% unfortunately. I'm not sure why it doesn't allow you to select the level. You may need to charge it up and try again
Hi Jerry, what model is the black MG4, was wondering why it comes with orange colored Brake Calipers. And also are these MG4 able to charge at tesla superchargers?
Thanks for another easy to understand video on the MG4 Jerry. Appreciated.
Thank you for the support.
Thanks for the video, Jerry. Very much appreciated. Keep it up 🎉
Thanks for the support!

Nice video. For the discharge/charge test between 2 Mg4 cars, is it possible to use a T2 to T2 cable instead of the special discharging cable ?

I don't think so.
Cool! Am I correctly understand that MG4 provides 2.7 kWt for electrical appliances? It even can power electric watter kettle?
Yes, max output is around 2.7kw. It will power most water kettle yes.

15 days is fine. Just lock the car that's all.
@@JerryPanandCars grazie, come sempre gentile e preciso! Buona giornata!
thanks, I want to ask if V2L is available on both the 51 and 64kwh versions of the car ??
Yes.
Hey is it possible to use the VHL function on a wallbox charger at home?
Do you mean V2L to charge the wallbox?

It is MG4 Xpower.
Only if the Tesla chargers are unlocked for other cars. Check Tesla website
Grazie
vil there come a V2V cabel
Don’t think so.
