As an X350 owner (albeit it 3.0 V6 Petrol rather than Diesel) I'm loving the videos on Blu. These are superb cars. Looking forward to this going live, and hopefully lots more Blu related content.
The sanctuary of tinkering at a civilised pace on ones car, love it. Great to see other people cleaning the inside of their car boot doing a great job. Informative and inspiring, thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it Duncan. I love deciding to do jobs. I hate having to do jobs. One is relaxing and interesting, the other is stressful and inconvenient.
As usual John, some great work on Blu on these videos. I've come across broken plastic clips on interior trim many times and my usual first solution before resorting to the drill is to use good quality double sided tape .... the sort with a thin foam layer sandwich. I don't know whether a strip of such tape would have worked on your boot trim but there's nothing to lose if it doesn't. Keep up the good work. 👍
Thanks Richard. I do have some foam double sided tape. But never considered it for this job🤔. I should get a better range of it in stock for these occasions.
Great tip with putting the tiny screws in! I shall Nick that idea myself. With all the evidence of obvious care in design, I wonder who thought it was a good idea to stick that long bar on the battery cable? Probably a “Friday before the launch” idea? Anyway, another great video. Cheers John!
Helpful video, thank you - any suggestions please on how to remove the top bolt from the X350 battery clamp if the bolt is just spinning round. Is there a way to access the nut from the back perhaps behind the wing and grip it while turning the bolt to free it?
Yes the positive touched my tool and it caused my my radio. Why do you have this wheel, you should have aluminum spare wheel exactly the same as your wheelset.
I have a 1gal ice cream tub full of Simple Green that I put plastic bits in overnight to clean them up. I would have used the soldering iron and some black scrap ABS to weld extension bumps on. How does a boot area get that nasty?
All sorts of wet and dirty stuff had been stored in there. (Boot floor was not in place when I got it) Just serious but thankfully short term neglect. Feels like a rescue Jag😁 I considered welding some lumps on, but decided to try something different.. Whats Simple green Gary? sounds interesting
@@ToTheGarage We have two major types of environmentally friendly cleaners here in the states. Simple Green and many d-limonene based orange cleaners. I'm sure you have something similar in the UK. Your AutoGlym treatment looks similar to our Armorall.
I have had her for about 2 months now. Many issues but all fixable (so far!) she only cost me £3000 with only 3 owners, but NO service history and 145000 miles on the clock

Can't help but love the attention to detail in using a marker pen to blacken the screw head that nobody will see or care about other than you.
Im a very sad man Paul😁. Thanks for watching👍
Using the two screws to replace the broken tabs is ingenious. I’ve got a few broken tabs where I may be able to use the same procedure. Thanks John.
Its not a cosmetically perfect solution Joseph but its fast its cheap and it works👍

Thanks Nick. we need more intel on that battery cable design
Agreed! That battery terminal design is shocking (pun intended)!
amazingly bad design, There has to be a reason why it seemed like a good idea though, and I need to find out what it is
All the petrol ones on eBay are different to yours

You have the diesel cable. Probably thicker and less bendy

Short but sweet and some very useful tips and information. Really enjoying these X350 videos. Cheers John.
Glad you like them Tony!
Another great "BLU" movie John.
Cheers John👍

Air suspension receiver cylinder takes up a lot of space beneath the space saver
My early X350 has a full size spare and the only polystyrene is the centre part.
your going to get caught raiding the laundry basket everytime you work on blu . i find a couple of pairs of sports socks make good washmits .
Good idea!!
I have a lot of socks with holes by this time in the year👍
Did you find any decent heatshrink for the positive terminal? My 2007 X358 2.7TDVI is exactly the same.
No not yet. I will let everyone know when I find a good solution.
