  • This is the sped up version of the full video I posted previously, of my saddle stitching technique on a commission piece I have recently completed.
    This is a 30 x18 inch desk pad, cut from Metropolitan Leather mid-tan 3-3.2mm lamport leather.
    This has a personalisation from the customer which is a handwritten note that has been digitised and lasered engraved into the leather.

    Hi Alex, may I ask what the paper is that you're using to protect the leather? I noticed this in a stitching section and I assume you use it to prevent marking the leather? Many thanks.

      Hi Sy, it's low tack transfer paper, it helps stop soot and residue from the laser engraving. I tend to use vinyl transfer tape nowadays.
      Yes it also helps protect the leather while handling it.

      I have a 40w laser, just from eBay. It's a blue one
