- Training with rescue services is priceless!! Both for us as for them which makes this a win-win-situation. During this training session, we passed our knowledge (sea kayak specific techniques) to the lifeboat crew. We got the chance to train a full and realistic scenario, we trained on how to extract an unconscious paddler out of the cockpit of his sea kayak and we trained on boarding the RHIB lifeboat in a swift and safe way. Nothing else that gratitude and praise to chief Vincent and his IKWV lifeboat crew, they rock! Just like us, they embrace every opportunity to train on open water! Have fun and be safe!
Was looking forward to the video after you announced it on insta - great stuff! The "grab the shoulder strap" part after 2:20 shows why a proper fit of the PFD is important.
Haha, thank you Patrick! Yes, indeed, the lifeguards have a better casualty with us and wearing our PFD then with a regular victim without PFD.

Hey Shana! Ja, dit is iets wat we jaarlijks (een paar keer) doen en waar we steeds naar uitkijken. Dit blijkt idem voor de kustreddingsdienst van De Panne, die staan net zoals wij te springen dankzij hun ruimdenkende, actieve hoofdredder.

Great vid, we use to provide deep resuce for inshore and off shore poweboat pilots, best days out in the sunshine looking cool and not getting wet, if you get my meaning but we trained like mad for the day which for me was fortunate that never came along.
