The Movie grossed more than $600 million around the world, you are invited to return to the magical Greek island of Kalokairi in an all-new original musical based on the songs of ABBA. With the film’s original cast returning and new additions including Lily James (Cinderella, Baby Driver), the musical comedy will open on July 20, 2018.
Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again is produced by Judy Craymer and Gary Goetzman, producers of the original film. Craymer is also the creator and producer of the worldwide smash-hit stage musical.
Ol Parker, writer of The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, writes and directs the sequel from a story by Catherine Johnson, Richard Curtis and Parker. Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus return to provide music and lyrics and serve as executive producers. Tom Hanks, Rita Wilson, Phyllida Lloyd, Richard Curtis and Nicky Kentish Barnes also serve as executive producers.
Reprising their roles from Mamma Mia! The Movie are Academy Award® winner Meryl Streep as Donna, Julie Walters as Rosie and Christine Baranski as Tanya. Amanda Seyfried and Dominic Cooper reunite as Sophie and Sky, while Pierce Brosnan, Stellan Skarsgård and Oscar® winner Colin Firth return to play Sophie’s three possible dads: Sam, Bill and Harry.
As the film goes back and forth in time to show how relationships forged in the past resonate in the present, James will play the role of Young Donna. Filling the roles of Young Rosie and Young Tanya are Alexa Davies (A Brilliant Young Mind) and Jessica Keenan Wynn (Broadway’s Beautiful). Lily James in my opinion was the star of the show. Really great voice and acting was spot on. I wasnt a big fan of the original movie but i loved this one and i have always been a fan of ABBA

Yup I like MM2 better because of Lily James. She really captured that free spirit, that innocence. In the first movie I just couldn’t buy the “I don’t know which of the 3 guys is the dad” story, and I’m not even that conservative. But this movie shows how it can happen, that Donna was a bit innocent and freewheeling, so everything just happened in the moment.
(Makes me wonder though... didn’t they use condoms, or maybe just pulled out awkwardly.)
I really feel that most abba songs are more suitable for younger people to sing.
I suggest you watch the original movie.
I think Jessica Keenan did a wonderful wonderful job portraying the younger version of Tanya (short mushroom bob girl). I think her acting is super underrated!!

fun fact, the storyline is that these outfits were made of curtain. In the next scene when young Donna is going to the balcony if you look at the curtains they’re cut up/have big holes and is the same pattern as their clothes (side note: I’m obsessed with her jumpsuit and want one)

Jessica's impression of Christine Baransky is spot on.
It's the wigs on Alexa Davies and Jessica Keenan Wynn. They normally don't look anything like Julie Walters and Christine Baranski. Some people have criticized that the women would have the same hairdo 20 years later, but at least it made it easy to know who was who.
I try not to worry that much about that. But they were celebs when they were the Dynamos. So maybe they re-did their hair that way every time they visited Donna.
The best thing about Mamma Mia 2 is the fact that its a prequel and sequel at the same time 😂
Also I think it's a big improvement than the first one. Mamma Mia was great but Mamma Mia Here We Go Again was much better

It's all pre recorded and today we cannot know if she can sing at all if it's pre-recorded. They can do anything in a music studio to make her sound good. Just saying.. In the first mamma mia movie meryl and amanda sang live in the movie itself. Meryl even stood on it for her songs to be sung and recorded live on set.
Pheew oh i know Lily and her voice here is the same.. she sings beautifully even if its not recorded you can search some footages of her singing from Cinderella to Baby Driver, War and Peace, she also sang live every day for a play last 2016 in Romeo and Juliet...her voice does'nt need to be edited because she can really sing. Benny Andersson himself said in an interview with BBC1 that Lily sings so well. ☺ and if she sang live in MM2 it would be amazing because she has the loveliest voice.

One of my Christmas presents In 1977 was Abba's Arrival and this was the first track. I was 15 and absolutely loved this song. Now I'm 55 and so glad to hear this in Mamma 2. Brilliant!

The original version was but this is nothing like it. Google the ABBA video of it dating from the 70s. This is why I hate these Mamma Mia productions. They've taken great songs and played around with them to make them fit into some stupid storyline unrelated to the meaning of the songs when they were first written. I know the ABBA guys did it themselves but it doesn't make it any better. What next? Mamma Mia 3 where the bimbo daughter gets divorced and they use all the songs from that period?

In the first film Ruby, donna’s mother, is dead, since donna says somebody up there is against her, and she says that’s probably her mother. So yeah in the first film she is dead and in the second she is alive and a popstar

ABBA were truly geniuses!! So many amazing songs, hard to believe that this was hidden under the "carpet" for soo many years.
ABBA had a lot of great songs that either weren't released as singles in some parts of the World or didn't get the attention they deserved only because they were overshadowed by other huge hit records. When I Kissed the Teacher has passed the test of time. The arrangement of this version is actually very close to the original with just some changes to the lyrics to fit the movie.
Been feeling abit down lately as I've broke my ankle and the bone in my left lower leg too. In plaster up to my knee, but these songs always make me feel better 😌 thank you ABBA for giving us the music
