    Magician reacts to Daniel Madison 2011 performing amazing sleight of hand magic with playing cards for Penn and Teller on their show Penn & Teller Fool Us 2011. Daniel Madison is a British magician famous for his dexterity with cards, especially in regards to gambling cheating techniques. He has released DVDs and books to teach other magicians how to perform powerful magic card tricks using skillful techniques. He's also got his own UA-cam channel, and you can go there to learn magic directly from him. Although perhaps not for beginners, his videos are enjoyable because of his artistic personality and his artistic video editing. Check out his channel here / @danielmadison At any rate.... this video shows the reaction of someone familiar with magic so you can see how someone in this field feels about the performance! This is Fool Us Season 1 2011 s01e03. Were you watching when the first season began? I'm going back and reacting to each and every episode... come along with me for the journey! :)

    MADNESS! Fanx for this, Jason, how much I’ve changed! But this feels like yesterday! ...My aim with this performance was to have P&T recognise my Sleight-of-Hand, so this did wonders for me, despite not fooling them. Daniel Madison taught this exact routine, and said in his video that he did not set out to fool Penn and Teller, he used the show as a platform to get his name out there more, so that would explain why the effect was not that complex.
    My thoughts on him are that I generally like his personality and persona, he has a great mind and sleight of hand, and his newest Remedies playing cards look beautiful.

    First I felt disappointed and Ididn´t understand the whole thing.
    When DM's left arm hung down out of sight and then quickly grabbed the deck I first thought it was a red herring for P&T.
    But obviously it wasn't.
    So the only goal could have been to execute the bottom deal in front of Penn and Teller, which in fact requires balls of steel.

    @5:27 he brings his left arm/hand up and puts the 5 diamonds on the bottom of the deck. Then as he goes through the deck one at a time he pulls those cards off the bottom. As Penn and Teller always says, every move a magician makes is for a reason and the reason he had his left arm down by his side and hand below table is because he needed to bring those 5 cards to the bottom of the deck.

    There are two subtleties that I think most people miss when they try to explain how he did it. One, and he did explain this, but how did he know that penn would have red bikes. And the other one has to be the most obsessive attention to detail I think I've ever seen. If you pay very close attention, he deals exactly 52 cards, despite that it was a fully borrowed deck so he had 57 cards total. Thats one of the things about Daniel that I love the most is his attention to detail.

      At the end when he get down to deciding between the "final two" cards, he pull the last card he needed off the bottom, leaving him with several cards in his left hand. He then ditched all but one into the pile before "choosing" the card in his right hand.

      They always use red bikes, which was a factor in other tricks also, so he knew to bring red bikes. Also he did add the cards at the beginning from his left hand. And dropped several at one time. Now it seems they removed the original vid from UA-cam making it harder to see.

    As P&T were walking to the stage, he saw the deck Teller had and pulled the 5 cards from under the table that matched the deck. Once the cards were placed in his right hand, his left hand placed the 5 cards on the bottom of the deck. As his appears to question the last 2 cards, he actually has 5 cards in his left hand and discards 4 of them. Therefore, he discarded a total of 52 cards and made his winning hand. That was great. I'm a codebreaker, not a magician.

      Since the deck came from Teller, the only way I can see that working is if he knew ahead of time what the back of the cards looked like. I didn't see when he could have grabbed the royal flush from the deck if they came from the actual deck used.

    I think he executed some bottome deals. At the beginning there's this side shot of the deck and you can see a weird looking packed at the bottom. It's not beveled like the other cards in the deck.
    So I think he loaded the cards after getting back the deck and then had the bottom deals.

    • @Atrac89
      @Atrac89 4 роки тому

      This is correct. All the diamond cards were bottom dealt and loaded into the shuffled deck from his other hand.

    When they put the deck in his hands it look like he brought cards up with his other hand and palmed them to the bottom. When they showed a close up it looks like you can see a small gap between the cards he added and the original decks so if we saw that gap they probably did I'm guessing he thought they were perfectly squared up, and then if this is all true then he would've bottom dealed the hand as well as putting multiple cards in the pile to look like one so that the count came to exactly 52??? This stuff is easier to see from further away. Like when Richard Turner does demonstrations his false Faros, or Zaros, are blatantly obvious.

    Look at Teller during Penn's explanation about the magician who had done hard time, when he say the guy tried teaching magicians the move he developed, but they could not do it well enough. Teller is pointing at himself. So Teller recognized the move, even if he can't do it himself.

    • @ashtonarrows1974
      @ashtonarrows1974 3 роки тому

      No way he could've got those 5 cards out of that deck when it was shuffled and handed to him for the first time. They would've had to have been from a second deck of cards, and they look at the discard pile. They would've seen an extra set of those cards in it because there's no way he removed them. He had no shot at fooling them if that's the case and they just don't mention seeing the extra set.
