It's definitely possible but if you look at the derailleur cage is sitting on a very bad angle under all that extra tension, so shifting quality could be really poor.
It defiantly can be in certain gear ratios with mechanical systems , this being e tap I never noticed any real change since the motors shift the same no matter what.
Loved that you tested this setup and shared it with us! Do you have a recommendation for chain size and chain brand to run this setup? I understand you're running this setup just fine, I'd like make sure to keep a failsafe factor. Thanks!!!
Clem Zabalza Chain length is something you cut to size based on your bike and chainring setup, I have tried all kinds of chains and say to get something mid price point wise
I may not hear what you said clearly. Is that the mid cage derailleur you shown? I have an mid cage Sram Red Etap Derailleur with 11-32 cassette. Looking to change my cassette to 11-34 but I can only find 11-36. Will my mid cage derailleur fit 11-36? Thanks!
Hi friend i have a SRAM etap red too. And i am checking for 11-34 for SRAM but only i found 11-32 (i have put it on my bike) and 11-36 (your video cassette). I see in your video that you maybe needs a new chain and it works fine no?
J.P. Capote Everything’s been great so far there are a few gears that I noticed the gaps between coming from my 1130 to but realistically you get used to it after a handful of rides
They will now! Update to SRAM AXS app means 12 speed Force/Red AXS levers will talk to 11 speed mechs, although with limited in-app options than supported by 12sp levers
Hi i have 52/36 front Ultegra R8000 crank with 11/28 cassette in rear with SRAM Etap 11 speed RD it's Standard short cage version want to have 11-34 or 11-32 atleast for better hill climbing. Let me know will just b tension screw and longer chain swap will work or do I need Roadlink wolftooth or similar. Thank you
elvin raphael louis yes the standard short cage is rated at a max of 28t, but I’ve seen people run a 32. The Wifly is rated at 32 but you can see I got a 36 to work no problem.

Yeah, I like these videos. Always cool to find out if certain things work together and you never know till someone tries.
Tech and bike wrenching videos are great! keep 'em coming!

Hi
I have a red etap .... 53/39 and currently 11/28 cassette , could
I change the rear cassette to a 11/34 or 36 ?
You’d need a new longer chain but 11-34 I think would work, since you have a standard crankset I dunno if the 36 would work
I wish 53/39 was made for axs and no power meter

They call it the WiFi cage but yes it’s also called the mid cage , I had no issue with 11-36 and my 50/34 setup

Juan Melchor yes chain might be necessary
@@LockedinCycling thanks os much. So this 11-36 with Sram Red Etap Wifli must works fine with a correct chain mesure?
Juan Melchor I have been running mine no problem for at least 500 miles I just don’t do big big combo
@@LockedinCycling okey. Thank you so much 😉
Any feedback on how the 11/36 performs? Are the gaps between gears noticeable?

Hey man is this the Sram E-Tap Wifli mid cage mech? as im looking to purchase but only if you can run 11-36 everywhere says 11-32 max thanks
Luke waller yes this is the mid cage, I am running a compact front ring setup with it as well
I’ve got a medium cage force axs derailleur with 10-33 and 1x 40t crankset. Could I fit 10-36?
Ben Cimmino I don’t see why not, but I haven’t personally messed with a axs equipped bike to confirm
sorry, what is the brand for the cassette? it is not in descrption, want to give it a try..
Dorin Mantoiu Just updated the description :)
Would you share your front chainring set up?

No they won’t work together

I’ve heard it works but never done it personally

@@LockedinCycling i must go to wifly for my 11-34T ?
elvin raphael louis as far as I know yes, unless you wanna try using a wolf tooth road link to make a 34 work

If you can it doesn’t mean you should
Opinion on a 1x11 with 50-11-36 ratio?
Brody all that depends on your terrain and how flat / strong you are. I have some rides I never swap to the small ring if it’s flatish.
