- A vlog about a typical day for me on the Allotment plot.
A little work to do and plenty of time to do it.
If this isn't good for mental health I don't know what is!
I’m very jealous of your fruit trees.you proper landed on your feet with you plot. Well done
Thanks 👍
Plot is coming along amazingly since I last watched a video! Your pumpkins should hopefully bounce back, might be a bitnof transplant shock as well. Mine went a bit yellow when I first put them out. I've sprinkled some chicken manure pellets around them and gave them a seaweed feed and they seem to be perking up.
Your orchard looks some peaceful and beautiful
Thank you so much. I'm very lucky to have adopted a well loved plot
There's a book called Grow a Little Fruit Tree and it is an outstanding book for keeping fruit trees small while not hindering production, if that's up your alley.
I'll check it out, thanks
Well done mate.Doing something is better than doing nothing, trust me,keep on top of the weeds, they grow better than the veg😂😂😂I love my allotment, best counselling ever, and eating what you have grown yourself is so rewarding and tastes 100 times better than shop bought
True that!
Each session is like some kind of relaxation therapy. Growing stuff is almost secondary to the enjoyment it gives you
What a lovely orchard, will you be making plum jam and look like eating apples. Vegetable garden has soon been planted
Thanks, yes. I don't want to waste anything if I van help it so there'll be chutneys etc all being well
Great job Craig - try peppermint oil to get rid of ants I’ve managed to clear all areas that were in my garden 👍
Will do, thanks 😊
Little and often gets a lot done. Looks like you have some everlasting or Welsh onions along from the rhubarb.
I agree. Welsh Onions for definite. Till today I thought chives
That leaning apple has a split right up the trunk, not sure it'll be worth saving in the long run as it'll never be able to seal the wound and spores will get in, if the split doesn't go all the way to the ground/the graft point, you could coppice it (just before bud break in Spring) and splice in/graft some scions and get 3 or 4 varieties on one tree, scions are cheap enough to have a go or take some from other trees, end of winter/before bud break in early spring is the best time, if it's split to the ground it's probably not worth saving. All the trees would benefit from mulching to the drip line.
Thanks for the information, much appreciated
Looks great. Just remember, pumpkins need a LOT of space! They might be a little close together but fingers crossed.
Yeah they definitely look close :(
I'll buy some more tomorrow to be safe
Where the pumpkin leaves yellow when you bought them??
It’s a sign of Nutrition Deficiency... you can also tie pumpkin plants
on a frame as it grows.
@@mzpatintexas8329 Probably just a reaction to the cold. Often happens in the UK when you first plant them out. A couple of days in warmer weather and they soon pick up!
They looked pretty healthy when I bought them but I've worked my magic lol
Yes, I've seen @emmasallotmentdiaries do that 👍
Great job you’re doing. I’m just starting to grow veg at the end of my garden. So it’s nice following your journey. My beans aren’t doing very well either.
I potted some up and they did nothing so I've just stuck some in the ground around the frame. Fingers crossed 🤞.
Thanks for the encouragement, I'm enjoying the journey
Plots coming along nicely there! Didn’t realise how big it actually was, and that orchard has some decent trees too. Great video chap 👍🙂
Thanks :)
The plot is starting to look bigger the more I get it cleared. An overgrown patch definitely looks smaller to me.
I caught up with you guys last night. Lovely stuff 👌
👍👍👍
Thanks for watching
👍
👍
Feed the pumpkins and they should recover, liquid seaweed fertiliser or if you've got comfrey on your plot, make comfrey tea fertiliser. Good progress. Jo Devon 🙂
Thanks Jo
Hi from ower the border 🏴 just binge watched the start of your new adventure. Well done so far lad, you've inherited a cracking plot...... previous grower will be chuffed to bits if he manages to watch/ visit!! ( Hope he does) ! 🤞🍀
Hi,
The guy who gave up the plot did so because of I'll health.
I've reached out to him to offer him the opportunity to come up and sit and relax.
I've heard he's on the mend so I hope he does.
I wouldn't mind him having a key
It looks like the last plum tree you showed us is a Samson plum. The fruit are very small and you get 100's. No good for eating but Damson plum jam or sauce is easy to make. Don't pick them until they are dusky blue in colour. From NZ. 3:27
Ahhh I was hoping to eat some :(
Hi Craig
I only got a glimpse of your Rhubarb stems in this video but it looks like your cutting them off You need to be ‘pulling them’ right at the bottom so they come away with the ‘white looking horse shoe ‘ on the bottom of the stem otherwise it will stop fruiting quite quickly and Rhubarb has a fairly short season you should stop picking it by late Summer and let it rest
Thanks. That's good to know as I'll be picking some tomorrow 👍
It looks great . Little and often is what you need . They say 7 hours a week in the top of the growing season . Great first allotment
7 hrs per week is easy when it's seen as a hobby rather than a chore. I'm really enjoying the plot. The area is nice and peaceful 😀
Just joined at 100subs,wish you well on your adventure.
Thanks for watching. I've set up the channel so I can keep an eye on progress. I'm definitely no videographer or content creator but it's seeming like a good way to look back if I get disheartened
Take care of that grape vine it look so healthy, from the time I start to watch all your videos, and it’s fruiting now that’s great
I keep watering it. I need to research how to take care of it properly and understand what it needs 👍
