    Huge value in 1v0. Replaying game situations in your mind and thinking about options/reads. Being able to pull back from the competitive side of the game and let your mind wander & get creative.
    Not a big fan of traditional 1v0 drills though. I think 1v0 should be mostly you fooling around, brainstorming with a ball, coming up with solutions on the spot. Then you get your 100% full speed reps through games.
    Congrats on your son - future lottery pick in the 2040 draft (if he gets that floater game down).

    Congratulations to you and your family. Glad you're back publishing again. When my first child was born I left the hospital to get food for my wife. While driving I swear I could perceive the curvature of the Earth and I experienced colors from neon signs in a profound way. It felt like I was a stranger in a strange land. I believe it that having a child changes brain chemistry.

    Congratulations! 🎉🍾 The future of training is secure. Curious what your thoughts are on athletes with the same height but different anthropometrics, i.e. longer torso vs shorter torso (longer is good for strength but does that also help with speed?)

      @@sensualslaps2143 makes sense. Probably for the initial acceleration phase, short limb length is better but for max velocity phase longer limb length is ideal

    • @zarachiza6952
      @zarachiza6952 2 роки тому

      If an individual with a long torso has as good stride frequency as someone with a shorter torso (the speed at which they plant their feet into the ground), due to having a longer stride length than someone with a short torso it could be beneficial. However, if someone with a short torso also has good RFD (applying lots of force in a short amount of time) that could also be beneficial for acceleration & getting into max velocity quickly. In short, depends on how well they're able to use what they got :)

    Thanks for speaking on this. Too many people are allowing easy pleasure to creep into society. Studies show dopamine is meant as a motivator not the reward itself...easy pleasure diminishes lasting happiness and slowly narrows the number of things that bring you happiness and also diminishes our MOTIVATION to work for the things that will bring us happiness. We shouldn't turn to artificial sources that serve as counterfeits of what our body and spirit are naturally built to do.

    25:50 numbers: you say it's a long answer but I think it's super important. You realize that Force production was being slowed down by stability and you were not able to overload your legs. That doesn't mean that everyone would understand that you needed speed production over pure strength training. The examples really helped. Also the cues about global fatigue and spine fatigue when you're going for leg fatigue can be priceless finding the right exercise.
    It's also important you mentioned that the game of how big of numbers on squat was not helping you jump. Growing up I saw so many people swear that their squats were going to get so big that they could dunk. I totally played that game for a long time and it just led me to knee surgery.

    If you want to transform your vertical leap then it’s beneficial to stop smoking. Your lungs are meant to inhale nothing but clean air. I think it can have benefits to recovery but it would be hard not to abuse it at that point. When people say it gets them in the zone when they are high it’s because of a huge endorphin rush that they are not getting naturally because they have replaced normal reward systems in the brain with dependence on smoking to achieve excitement to engage in physical activity. In the long run I think it would be better to stop but that’s just my opinion.

  • @Ryanwill570
    @Ryanwill570 2 роки тому

    What I learned is that weed is still something that is still under-researched. It takes experiential knowledge and a developed positive response to get the benefits of smoking. Smaller amounts, Certain strains or hybrid balances and only during recovery would be a good place to start.

    I am curious if you have any drils helping with pronation in dorsiflexion beside single leg squat. Hope to see some more about that as i had rly hard times getting my ankle to move for last 3 years. Got a bit better latly thanks to "mobility in sport is more of how much force i can produce in 0.4s" episode and using those principles.

    One of the keys here: KD didn’t start smoking weed until he was 22. If you’re smoking when you’re 15, your brain is still developing & weed WILL have negative effects on brain development as you grow older. This is not only scientifically proven but I can speak from personal experience myself. If you want to smoke, it’s best tic wait until you’re of legal age (21)

How could you possibly see a consistent performance benefit from weed if we evolved to perform optimally with no drugs in our system to obtain optimal focus, maximum adrenaline, and natural hormone/chemical production in the brain?
