Hall effect sticks and triggers. 8 inch screen. VRR. 80 watt battery. Yeah 2230, but it saves on power consumption. I preordered and I am "patiently" waiting.
This lunar lake chip performs similar just a few fps above z1 extreme at 30w. It is not worth it for the price considering the ally x can be bought at 699. Just wait for z2 extreme devices the improvements are pretty huge over the z1
Im looking at purchasing this. Im coming from a GPD Win 4 6800U 32 GB ram. Love it but things are bothering me now (screen size, motherboard issues, battery, screen tear).
I know you only held it quickly, but was it noticeably lighter than the Legion Go? I have the GO only because of the screen size but the weight is just too much. I get wrist pain after like 15 mins of use at this point. I don't from the Steam Deck. However, 7 inches is just unusable for PC gaming IMO. 8 sounds like the perfect compromise.
They had a Legion Go, ROG Ally X, and ETA Primer brought his Steam Deck OLED. The weight was comparable to the Legion Go, though it was a tad lighter. I also agree that an 8" Screen is the way to go.
@@baldlyrudy Damn. A tad won't cut it. Hopefully the next gen units will be able to get an 8inch screen into a lighter body. I saw your other vid on the Go and agree the kickstand helps a lot with weight, but sometimes I just wanna pick up and play something. Rather than go and make sure I have a place to rest a kick stand on. I may just try and find a ROG Ally 1 super cheap as a lighter option until newer stuff comes out. That seems to be the lightest out of them all.
Great videos, thanks for your work :) for me at 17 watts the comparison is incorrect but in favor of asus, for 2 reasons the first being that lunar lake has the ram directly soldered to the processors so the ram is included in the tdp of 17w, it consumes 2w more nothing for the ram, while the z1 extreme actually consumes 19w with the ram because the 2w of the ram are not taken into account in the tdp of 17w so lunar lake should be tested at 19 watts to be equal tdp level, then the 8 ai+ is in 1200×1920p and not in 1080×1920p which reduces performance by 5 to 10%, I hope you will take all this into account during your tests if you want to do a real test perfectly objective and honest. I hope we will be pleasantly surprised by Intel but it seems promising for the moment, but that's my opinion... have a good day everyone 😊
The z2 extreme will have zen 5 cores and will have performance pretty similar to ai hx 370. It will blow this lunar lake chip out of the water. Intel is pricy
@@jackykwan2580Not guaranteed as it's also rumored they'll be running 4 Zen 5c along with their normal Zen 5 cores which have less cache. Also the most powerful AMD APU is nice, but they'll have to sacrifice power to either the CPU or GPU if they plan on making a Z2E.
Eeehhhhhh....display is okay. I'd prefer an OLED, but it seems the price of an OLED panel with VRR is high. As for the graphics....I'd want to try more games to see what fidelity performance is like.
I don’t like the 16 : 10 aspect ratio. The field of view in games is narrower, and extra pixels are rendered unnecessarily, which affects performance. It’s a pointless aspect ratio for games, even a bad one.
I'm not 100% sure, but my guess would be sometime in Q2 or Q3 of next year. Just like laptops, I could see PC companies like ASUS going on a yearly release schedule. MSI is launching the Claw 8 AI Plus sometime this month. The first Claw launched in March of this year.
@@jecabreradc will do man. I'm super curious to see how all of this plays out. 2025 is looking pretty awesome for the handheld space and tech in general.

Such a shame cuz had msi sided with amd and sticked to 16:9 it would literally be the best handheld in the world....
Oh yeah! Most definitely. And even if it's the same form factor with better specs, I'd happily take it. Ergonomically, the Steam Deck is pretty much perfect. And with all the moves Valve seems to be making, it's getting me hyped for the future.
They already said that they won't release a steam deck 2 till there's a signifiant increase in compute power. So likely not for another couple of years.
My opinion, ESPECIALLY in the tech world, is if you want something to not wait until the next big thing comes out. Something comes out seemingly every other week in tech so if you are always waiting for the next big thing, you'll never get anything. If you want a steam deck, get a steam deck. Then sell it if something better comes out that you want.
@@blastingoff i am worried that if steamos goes public or supported on all mainstream handhelds, that we might not see a deck 2 at all. Why sell the hardware if you dont make a lot of profit on it just because you want people on your eco system via steamos..
thundergat4TB That's the only draw back why I hate Nvme 2230 SSD. Hopefully more companies make 4TB and 8TB version later on if not. I hope Steam Deck 2 moves on and quit using Nvme 2230 and uses the normal nvme ssd sticks!
That’s honestly too expensive when you compare it to a steam deck oled. Sure it can run more games at higher settings but for that price I’m not even going to care or entertain the idea. I would rather get gaming laptop at that price.
This thing looks great and all but the dpad is a big issue. Why can't people just mimic playstation. It's the best dpad for years. It just works, it doesn't get chnaged for a reason. You play platformers or fighting fanes it's always been perfect. We don't need a joystick like dpad, that's why we have analog sticks. Make a dpad a dpad ffs.
It won't be a flop, unlike the OG claw with the flawed Xe iGPU, this is much more efficient and powerful than before. It even supports XeSS properly as it has the AI cores to use that. The RT cores are better too(for whatever that's worth).
