- Dave Anthony & Gareth Reynolds sit down for another episode of The Dollop to talk about indigenous rights activist, Leonard Peltier. Peltier was convicted of murdering two FBI agents in a June 26, 1975, shooting on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota.

On Leonard joining the Marines. People, even anti-authoritarian day 1 types, are still bearing the burden of whatever pedagogy they came up with. His options for a 'desirable' masculine identity as a young person plus, as you note finances play a role in that limiting of options, are few. It's easy as an over 40 to see that shit as silly in the rearview, but when you're in the thick of it? Not so easy. I joined up at 17, myself, with a different social background but similar financial prospects. Today I'm a full blown Red commie. It's a process.

It's not that Irish names and places couldn't be mentioned, but that the actual voices of people associated with groups deemed terroristic (IRA, Sinn Fein, INLA, etc.) couldn't be broadcast, so they had to dub them with voice actors. Wales has never lost its language, and it's had a revival in recent years. Both countries had laws and norms imposed on them which made it an offense to speak or write in their languages, but these were both undone in the 19th and early 20th centuries.

The Obama hate is real. I understand that this man's story is heartbreaking, but to skip 3 three presidents and lay it at Obama's feet? Unacceptable. Obama was a letdown in many ways, this doesn't crack the top 10. I guess Dave was in his feelings that day.

Obama was a smart POTUS. It should tell you something that even a left-wing president like him didn't sign off on his release. For every president, there will someone at the FBI who will advise him not to release Peltier
