Try using thick foam…like upholstery foam…to help puff out your hearts. Lay the textured clay face down and press downward into the foam as you stretch the clay into the rounded shape. The foam will not distort the texture so you don’t have to be so careful to protect the surface as you create the puffy profile. Your hearts are gorgeous, by the way.
Would it be possible to make these using paper clay? I suppose the two sides would warp if left to dry separately but perhaps if once shaped, attach the two sides with slip? These are beautiful. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👏👏👏

Thanks! They are the same size as the cookie cutter, maybe abt 5-6 cm high. I bought them at a Homesense years ago and haven't seen them anywhere since. I would also love to know where I could buy or order more as they wear out fast with this use.
I wish I knew where to get more of them as they can only be used a few times before they break. I found them a few years ago at a Homesense (Canada) , must have been around Christmas time. But nowadays you can find many lasercut thin wood ornaments at the Dollar stores or Michaels all trough the year.

Estoy usando arcilla de gres pero también he usado porcelana para esto. Primero debe cocerse en un horno de cerámica a 998 grados y después del esmaltado a 1224 grados centígrados. Como siempre, deje que el caly se seque lentamente, déjelo ligeramente cubierto durante al menos una semana y luego descubierto durante otra antes de cocinarlo, dependiendo de la humedad de la habitación. Estoy aprendiendo español pero tuve que usar el traductor de Google para esto, así que me disculpo si algo suena raro 🙂
I think you can do this with any clay, just try a few times if it doesn't work right away. Since it is purely decorative there is no need for it to be ceramic. Good luck!
To prevent explosions, I make sure I put a hole somewhere in the back before I put it to dry and than let it dry slowly (covered) and long (2 weeks or so depending on air humidity). Sometimes I still lose 1 or 2 when I forget the hole :-). It dries better with the hole and also keeps it from bursting at the seams when it shrinks during drying.
She didn't want sound. It's stated "no sound" below the video. That's why she used closed caption on the screen. My guess is she needs to concentrate on the clay and talking would distract her.
@@claykta I liked it fine without sound and just using the close caption. It's pretty much self explainitery. It was relaxing and kept me focused on what you were doing. I'm sure you have a pleasant voice , but some videoers chit chat and yack too much and it's distracting. People can always ask questions in the comers.

They are made of stoneware clay (that needs to be fired in a kiln) but you could try it with another clay.

This is stoneware clay that needs to be fired in a kiln. I am sure it can be done with other types of clay as well, just try 🙂

Yes, they are indeed clear glazed. I fire them on small stilts, this sometimes gives 3 little marks on the back that need to be grinded off.
