I believe you when you say you are doing this for accountability. You are doing this not for the YT money but for the community. I appreciate you don’t sell budgeting stuff, unlike others. Those are doing it for money. I just rolled my eyes when they said they are doing it for the people.
Thank you so much!! I agree with you on the eye rolls. Nothing makes me click off a video faster than a sponsor who has nothing to do with what the channel claims to be about. It gives me “icky” vibes 😅😂
Wow, that’s so kind of you to say! I take that as a huge compliment as someone who also watches UA-cam debt payoff channels. Thank you for making my day ☺️💜
Congratulations. It is wonderful to be under 100K. And it is great that your husband’s work is flexible to allow him to make more income. I know he is working very hard, but not everyone’s job has that option.
Very true! We are very grateful that he can do extra right now. He works in health care, and they are always short handed, so that does help immensely! Thank you for watching ☺️
I am so happy for you. This is a huge milestone. Once you get that Fedloan 5 paid off and all of that money starts to Snowball to the Highlander you are going to be making huge leaps every month and seeing so much progress each and every month. This will keep you motivated.
So amazing, Katie! You’ve exceeded all your goals with an entire quarter of the year to go. What incredible progress. Definitely shows that your decisions have been the right ones and that debt will be completely gone in record time. Could not be happier or more proud of you and all your hard work. Can’t wait to see the new accelerated debt payoff plan video, you’re on a roll for sure!
Thank you so much, Laura! You’ve always been so supportive, and u appreciate you so much! The encouragement really does help, and I am so determined to get this debt knocked out now! 😄🙌🏼
Great job Katie!! I paid off my debt but I also needed extra profit at the same time so I got a conselor to help me so I make 10% of my deposit atm Keep up the good work!!
Yay! So exciting! Please do not underestimate the value of the management of the money you make versus the value of making money. Both are important. I would say the management of your money is more important than how much you make. There are plenty of people out there that make a ton of money, but have nothing to show for it. Good job girl!
Thank you so so much! I appreciate the encouragement! I couldn’t agree more! Making more money in the past has only ever made us go deeper into debt because we did not have the disciple to handle our money at that time. I’m so glad we got in a budget and started practicing good habit BEFORE Marc started doing this call shift so that we could actually put it to good use. I do think income is important, of course, but how you use it is KEY! I wish I had learned that sooner.
Congratulations Katie🎉❤ I did some quick math, took these 3 quarters and divided by three. Came up with $15,481. Multiply that by 6 quarters and got 92,000+. Since you’ll be paying less and less interest, I think you could be done by mid March. Keep motivated Katie and Mark. You are killing it.
Mid-March of 2026?! Eeek that’s definitely sinner than I was thinking, but I would be SO HAPPY! 😄 thanks for believing in me! I hope we can push hard through the rest of this!
Wow, I didn’t expect you to get below 6 figure debt this soon. Remember my first guess was Jan 2025. You are doing amazing. Backing off a smidge in December would be a great way to celebrate your hard work this year. Then kick it back up after the new year. Yay, hurray 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Thank you, Debra! I’m so glad we were able to make it happen this year! And I’d love to be able to back off just a smidge in December to enjoy Christmas with the boys ☺️❤️
Katie!!! I am so proud and happy for you! Your hard work is paying off. I remember when you had to buy a new vehicle and you were so upset. But look at you!! Taking control and making big changes. You’ll have that debt wiped out sooner than later!
Thank you, Lisa! I was upset about that because we were so close to the 100K mark, and I thought it was set us back much farther than it did, but we counted back in about 9 months. Not too shabby 😆
Wohooo! Amazing job! You should be proud of yourself and Marc! Sure Marc worked a lot, but please don't forget that you have also been doing a lot. You've been taking care of the boys more when he's working and you've been babysitting. It's teamwork 🎉 I'm so happy for you that you reached that milestone
Thank you, Sara! Yes, it’s definitely a team effort 😃 I always say that he makes the money, and I manage it…and everything else 😂 he’s awesome though, and we are thankful that he works so hard for our family. It is extra work for me when he’s not home as much, but hopefully it will just be for a couple more years 🙌🏼
Congratulations Katie and Marc!!! Be sure to celebrate this milestone - it is sooo important to celebrate the milestones to help keep us motivated. Cheers to you guys! Amanda
Amazing!!! I am in a place I feel like we’ll never get under 6 figure debt but you are so inspiring it might actually be possible. Congrats on this HUGE milestone!!
Like this September '24 debt reconciliation video, I will be waiting for the new plans video with anticipation! You are getting to the point in your debt and financial journey that you have multiple options, opportunities, and possible paths opening for you.
Thank you for being so supportive, Terry!! I am so excited to share our plans with you guys! I’m hoping to film that tomorrow and have it up later this week 🤞🏼
I recently found your channel and have watched a couple of your videos now, but the moment you revealed that you were under six figures the biggest grin spread across my face. I'm so proud of you guys, keep up the good work! Excited to follow along the next couple of months.
Cheers Katie! What a marvelous goal to make! And just think, the year isn't even over so there's so much more opportunity for that overall debt number to come down! Next year is going to be even better because you can see the goals you've met this year. Woo hoo!
I estimated that Fed Loan 4 could be somewhere in the $6,000's but nowhere in the $6,100 to $6,200 range! October's reconciliation is going to be full of a number of wins without extra emphasis on either the Fed loan 5 and Highlander columns; and of course the SoFi column is to the point it shows obvious progress each month. Extra emphasis with a push to pay Fed loan 5 by the end of the year will simply make this spread sheet look extra sweet. - You are having a very good year.
$46k of debt paid off so far this year?! Holy smokes you are amazing! So proud of you and your family, love watching your journey! Can’t wait to celebrate with you when you become debt free 🎉
Thank you so much, Holly! I appreciate that so much! It truly is amazing what we’ve been able to accomplish, but I couldn’t do it without people like you! It helps so much 🥹💕
A number of your overall debt paydown and payoff gains have been made by adding small amounts of income be it the HYS earnings, utube earnings, Marc's OT and shift differential earnings, and your babysitting money. I cant help but believe that the interest savings achieved by paying off Fed Loan 4 and paying down Fed Loan 5 have been contributory to your great Q3 number too.
That’s a good point! I bet the interest we are paying is decreasing. I kind of wish I had tracked that along the way, but I honestly didn’t want to see those nuunbers. It would have been interesting to see though!
Thank you!!! I remember you saying last month that you thought I could do it in September! I wasn’t so sure, but you were right ☺️ thank you for that push! It really did help!
🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽 I am celebrating this win with you🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽 under six figures is HUGE!! It represents so much progress!!! I am proud of you guys and so happy for you guys!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
So the basic 4 operations of arithmetic are not my forte so I didnt actually go so far as to subtract, but I pegged the "under 6 figure" milestone for October '24 and here it is in September! Of course with the 6 figure goal met, the amount paid down for the year milestone is met too. Someone else in utubing debt paydown land with a completely different set of circumstances is also meeting and exceeding expectations but you both share the snowball approach and a specific account of emphasis; it works even when the numbers are bigger. Super, super congratulations.
Thank you so much, Terry! You say arithmetic is not your forte, but your predictions are always pretty spot on! I appreciate all of your encouragement over the past few months ☺️
Congrats!! What a great accomplishment! You should be very proud of yourselves. It takes a ton of discipline and hard work to remain consistent on paying off debt. You’re crushing it. 🎉
Thank you so much! I’m so glad we have been focusing on knocking this debt out! We are definitely proud of the progress so far, but we still have a long way to go! 😅
@@KatieoftheHouse life has been CRAZY 🫣 In all senses of the word. I miss making them but it's still just not in the cards right now. I hope all of you guys have been well 🙏💙
You did it !!!!! And yes the Highlander is going to be easy once 5 is gone ! Then sofi will go faster as that snow ball grows !!!! House house Katie ! Get that house paid off !!!! Haha 🎉😂one debt at a time ! Glenda
Yes SoFi has bigger numbers but the extra from Marc's work began at an excellent balance; generally mid way between different $1,000 amounts. At a glance month after month, the remaining balance is going down by $1k in the 1000ths column. For not being an account of emphasis, that's got to be rather affirming and also put a little background hum in your soul. Depending upon what you do on the savings, investment, and house improvement sides this one should move pretty quickly when it becomes an account of emphasis because its moving so well right now.
Thank you, Terry! Yes, I think with Marc’s employer contribution to SoFi? It’s going down $1100+ per month! And funnily enough, their last payment will be December of next year, which is when I’m hoping the Highlander will be paid off (maybe sooner). So, at that point, I’m hoping we can throw everything at SoFi and be done with it in 2026 😄
@@KatieoftheHouse if you are paying off a rough $40k to $50k per year, you should be done by the end of '26. Im guessing that just by the end of '24 you will have enough head start on the remaining roughly remaining @$100k you can return to a little more savings/ investing and still be done sometime in '26 or the end of '26. - At the same time, add up your babysitting money and also the tax costs between Dec '24 and tax season. Im thinking that the babysitting money has played enough of a role that its counted enough to count.
This is SO awesome! Below 6 figures is a humongous milestone! It really takes discipline to get here so be proud of yourself and your family. The next milestone is 50K 😁
Haha, I have no doubt that you’re right about that! I’m betting the closer we get, the more it will feel like a slog, but we’ll get there! Thank you so much, Liz!
Have you thought about doing the last loan before the vehicle. The vehicle has a much shorter payment period, and since it has value, you could sell it and get out of the payment if something drastic happened to your income. There is no getting out of the sofi student loan. If you finish the loan before the car regular payments pay it off, then you can snowball it. ❤
Hmmm I hadn’t really thought of that! I will have to put some thought into what you said. The interest rate in the car is quite a bit higher, so that’s the main reason I’d like to get rid of it first, but you are right that there’s no selling anything to get out of SoFi.
@@KatieoftheHouse you'd have to run the numbers to see which saves more money on interest, but a lower rate can be more money in total if the loan drags out longer or is a much higher balance of course.
I believe you when you say you are doing this for accountability. You are doing this not for the YT money but for the community. I appreciate you don’t sell budgeting stuff, unlike others. Those are doing it for money. I just rolled my eyes when they said they are doing it for the people.

@@KatieoftheHouse you'd have to run the numbers to see which saves more money on interest, but a lower rate can be more money in total if the loan drags out longer or is a much higher balance of course.
Congratulations🎉🎉
