  • So, today we are out and about walking in the Cotswold village and parish of Great Tew which is located in Oxfordshire, England. The village is about 5 miles (8 km) north-east of Chipping Norton and 8 miles (13 km) south-west of Banbury. In 2011 the population in the village was 156.
The parish church of St Michael and all Angels is of Norman origins. The south doorway dates back to 1170 and still stands today. The church tower has a ring of eight bells.
In terms of local amenities there are the Falkland Arms public house which is mostly 17th century and a general store which also doubles as a café - these are all perfect for a summer's day pitstop when out and about walking in the Cotswolds. There used to be a sub-post office within the store.
It has to be said that this walk is arguably one of the finest to date, the morning sunlight really helped create an extra special atmosphere to this stunning village. Shot in 4K HDR with Binaural Sound.

    Thanks for walking with me.

Young man thank you so much for these beautiful videos. I love going on these walks with you. It’s become my morning routine to put your walk on, grab my tea or coffee, and my journal and pen. “Today I am going on my morning walk in the beautiful Cotswold again. I’m walking down a lovely road filled with cottages and gardens. I love starting my day off so pleasantly”, I write. So you now have become just as much a part of my life as I have of yours. Thank you so much for this joy.

I cannot help but view your walks of the Cotswold villages through the eyes of the book Pattern Language by Christopher Alexander. His tome was a group effort to document shared cultures built landscape spaces from the large regional scale down to the design of parts of a home. Each chapter is 1-2pages, cross referenced to adjacent spaces. It is not an accident that the pages are similar to the tissue paper of the Bible and beautifully conceived.
All of this is to say your videos should be a companion piece to that extraordinary book.

What a great walk; it made the “saved” list immediately! The horses were a sweet sight to start out the walk- one of my favorite animals, and always so beautiful. The funny voices of the sheep always bring a smile, too…very endearing. The golden morning sunlight in this video was brilliant as it illuminated all it shone on and through: foliage, brick homes, clouds, etc. (I especially enjoyed the beauty of the clouds with sunlight behind them). Those were very interesting fences you passed at one point- almost looked like basketweave! I have never seen any like that over here.
This video was watched in peculiar circumstances, as today we were (and still are) under a tornado watch here in WNY, not to mention getting thunderstorms and torrential downpours- all effects from massive hurricane Beryl and the weather system surrounding it. Tornadoes are not common occurrences in the northeast, but they do happen- and just the mention of the word brings nervous thoughts, as these powerful masses of whirling air can instantly take lives, and wipe out entire towns. Though one has touched down in our general area, I have not heard of any harm coming to people- so hopefully that doesn’t change. Your walk is being a pleasant diversion from the constant weather updates this afternoon; thank you for another lovely video!

@@janetryan9779 hi Janet. First off - I dearly hope that there is no loss of life or serious injury and that it dissipates very soon. We occasionally experience small twisters in the UK but no where near the level as seen in the US and no where near as often. That is unusual to hear of tornadoes that far up. The sheer and deadly power of tornadoes is very scary indeed as is the massive thunderstorms too.
Thank you ever so much for your time on this walk. I am glad you enjoyed this one, one that is most definitely worthy of saving to your favourite’s list :).

Thank you. The tornado watch was finally lifted this evening (don’t know if it’s the same terminology in the UK, but a “watch” means conditions are favorable for development of one, and a “warning” means that one has actually been spotted), and it seems from news reports that one particular more rural area south of Buffalo took the greatest hit, with many trees down, power outages, roads blocked, and houses and barns that were flattened or badly damaged. Thankfully, thus far I have not heard of any human loss of life or of serious injuries….and I hope that this remains the case. It must be beyond terrifying to be in close proximity to one of these violent storms, and though not the norm here, they definitely can occur. Several years ago an elderly friend of mine was alone in her country home with only her dog when a tornado tore through the woods literally yards from where she and the dog were sheltering inside. A couple of weeks later I visited her home and saw first-hand the broken trees and the lengthy 4-foot deep ditch that the tornado had dug along her property as it roared through on that fearful night. She was very thankful that it did not veer a few yards closer and take her house down.
Hopefully for your next video I won’t be keeping my eyes darting to the windows for funnel clouds as I watch it!

@carmend.1924 that's a good question! I have an extensive list of towns & villages which is mostly based on many hours of research. I am away from home moreso on weekends. Everything immersed in rich golden light, blue skies, and verdant foliage make this one of my favorite videos. That wrought-iron well cover at 10:22 outside the Horn Beam House is one of the most elaborate well covers I've seen, perhaps because it's in the Cotswolds it was meant to guard against livestock falling in?

How nice to live in such a place. But, why aren't the British outraged at all of the planes releasing climate changing chemicals everywhere? Is no one noticing the sky and the trails they're leaving?

Sometimes during the early morning walks, I can strike it lucky and not see a single soul or any passing vehicles but it is difficult to complete an early morning walk without hearing an airliner roaring overhead or in the distance.

Maybe we should ban Transatlantic flights, because those aircraft are going to and from the Americas. And whilst jet engines do emit considerable amounts of pollution into the atmosphere, the contrails you mention are just water vapour, and are harmless............

I know what you mean as I am currently watching/listening to one of my fav ambient music channels here on YT, already had about 10 ads so far and I'm not even half way through the video yet. With the greatest of respect to you, the reality is tho, without the ads their channel and mine couldn't afford to exist.
Thanks for giving this video a go 👍
