Joe Namath is an icon in sports like few others, and the idea that some football experts believe he didn't belong in the Hall of Fame is beyond comprehension. The Hall of Fame was created to honor incredibly famous, courageous and worthy heroes like Broadway Joe.
My Dad took me to a Jets and Patriots game at the Lynn Bowl in Lynn Massachusetts. We got to stand on the sidelines because my Dads boss was friends with Babe Perelli the QB of the Pats. Namath was a rookie and was throwing 60 yard bombs with his lightening quick release in warm up mesmerizing the crowd. A highly sought after baseball player coming out of high school he was a great athlete. Bear Bryant said he was the best football player he ever saw.
To me Joe Namath is the best Quarterback & he will always be my favorite . He got injured & alot of times still stayed in games . I will always love Broadway Joe 🏈💚❤
Obviously, you are a Jets fan. Joe threw almost 50 more interceptions than touchdowns. He got into the Hall of Fame based on one game and the fact that he played most of his career in New York where the media hyped him.
As a kid, I collected Joe Namath football cards, especially his rookie card. Years later I thought they were gone, but I found them up in my mother's attic, like a gold mine.
When you grew up in the NYC Area in the 1970’s one jersey was common everywhere you went. The Giants didn’t have a megastar during that time and he was still the biggest star in football.
Namath and Maynard were the shit! 1st great QB /WR duo in NFL history! I am now 54 and saw Joe in his decline, but the man was a perfect, pure passer in his prime! * Classy with SWAG! Elvis even loved watching him play! Kenny Stabler , who was Namath's under study at ' BAMA in 64' ( Joe's Sr. year said of Namath back then, " Joe will become one of the BEST QB's ever in the big time! * They both were!
Namath, what a story! Life long Jets fan. I see parallels with Wilson, but in this nfl you can't hit the bomb without an offensive line geared for the run game enabling play action. Wilson has to hit the 5 yd out or rb check. Hammer that over and over and then hit the perfect bomb. This is a phenomenal biography of Namath. Go Jets!
Us NY Giants fans DESPISED Joe !!! Luckily for us Joe was injured often and his last great game, his last bit of legend/greatness ended in/after Super Bowl 3. As the years passed we had to admit there was nothing like him talent-wise ever as a QB. In the end it was sad we only got to see about 3 healthy years from Joe.
When Joe Namath makes it to Heaven, he will be able to play football with a healthy body and mind. It will be amazing. All our sports heroes in their prime. Thank God.
The Alabama suspension: There are two kinds of kid, and ONLY two kinds. 1) The kind that owns up to his mistakes, takes his lumos and then starts to work harder to make up for them and 2) The kind that slinks off and quits when he gets called down. That second kind of kid you do not need, because it is only a matter of time before he lets you down. The first kind is in the process of becoming a man and a man who will always win in life. I was not at Alabama in the 1960s, but I did coach elsewhere in a different decade. This kind of thing is universal in the profession. I "guarantee" that was a defining moment for young Mr. Namath.
14:32 Joe Namath chose Maryland, not Alabama! When he failed to meet the entrance requirements the coaching staff at Maryland helped direct him to Alabama.
This pt 2 was pretty much a repeat of pt 1 and I personally liked pt 1 better. The best part of this one was the last 7-8 mins where they covered stuff pt 1 never did. SO, if you've watched pt 1 just go to the end of this one. It'll save you an hour.
I do not take one single thing away from Joe for hitting the booze when his wife broke up his family. There are men like us still in the world. Our families mean everything to us. When that goes south on us...we cope. I have done it. Like Joe, I did not touch a drop the whole time I was raising my kids. When I almost faced divorce...I opened the bottle. I get it. Luckily for me, it worked out. It did not work out for Joe. But give the guy a break. The world needs more, not less men who would be so devastated at the loss of their families.

My wife and I met Joe at Bachelor’s 3 in Ft Lauderdale,Fl.. I was rude enough to ask for his autograph which he was gracious enough to do..And yes,he had a very nice lady with him that night..
Are you deaf and DUMB? I even provided a time stamp. Namath said , "paternity". Which is not only humorous considering he was not lauded for his I.Q. and ironic in light of his reputed prowess at getting bitches into "bed".

What a great QB and even better person. Quickest release of a football I've ever seen.
Namath and Marino, quickest releases i'd ever seen
Nothing overrated about Joe. Super guy with super qualities. Honest committed and true to himself.
What I like most is if he has something to say he has guts to say it!!

Joe really is the most iconic football player that has ever been.
