  • I was out testing my camera and some guy in an evo shows up =)
The lid around the camera wasn't fully closed so the sound isn't very good.
And for those arguing about what model car this is. It's a 350bhp evo 6 gsr.

Q: Why didn't the R1 rider pick on a car that can accelerate as fast as an R1?
    A: Because there aren't any . . .

Actually there are. For example, a twin turbo or supercharged C6Z06. Probably 800 - 1500 rwhp would do the trick.

I meant a car that you're likely to come across every day, not some over-priced pe**s extention!
It's all pretty irrelevant anyway, we all know that a 125cc commuter Bike/Scooter will beat any car A-B on just about any journey . . .

starts of and shifting at 3-4k rpm (normal) and using what? 10% throttle and then realize "oh the evo is racing it". let's give the second gear some throttle and rev to midrange rpms ---> Smoked him. Cars are for transport and buy stuff (like food) bikes are for commuting and speed.

I have helped build cars that will beat a R1(in a straight line and in a corner). the R1 is the slowest liter sport bike anyways. this video is pointless and nothing impressive happens in it.

    • @foolongtea
      @foolongtea 10 років тому +2

I beg to differ that they are the slowest. Maybe it depends on what year you have. I use to have a 2008 CBR1000 and my friend garrets 2009 R1 was definitely quicker on the highway. My bike felt like it had a better powerband, but once winding them both out the R1 felt and was faster in the upper rpms.

i would say i ride my gsxr in anything but ice since that is dangerous. the onlything is when the road is wet you can't go full throttle below 150, but after that it's no problem to top speed it out, there is actually a lot more grip in rain condition than many believes

    • @Jesperrescue
      @Jesperrescue 9 років тому

i can just speak for my self. i only ride motorcycles except during summer when i get home to my parents, and i would say that most weather are more then enough to ride a motorcycle, and ofc motorcycle is a hobby vehicle, the same with super cars.
i never really ride in ice condition unless the road is somewhat dry and not frozen, that's dangerous to do with tyre made for summer condition (doesn't matter if car or bike)
Take care "professional truck articulated trucks driver"
however i almost every time see at least one bike no matter the year when i a'm out unless it's on the country roads where few people live, but i can only speak for my own experiences and observations.
And infact i a'm curious. why are we talking about how many people ride and in what type of weather. seems odd and doesn't have anything to do with this video i guess, most motorcycle riders prob have a car license since bikes are in general more a hobby, but it doesn't change any fact i a'm afraid

My friends Evo runs high 8's, low 9's consistently and is street legal with full A/C heat. It's up there in price, but I have seen him freak the heck out of bike rider thinking their motors are shot or something, lol. Cars can be as fast as bikes and even faster in the end (read dragsters) but the main difference is the cars usually get up there in price for the speed and bikes are best bang for the buck performance.

My lamest ever bike (a 2001 Triumph Bonneville) still managed to beat (though not murder) WRXs at the lights, sitting bog upright and letting them get the jump.
Any bike with 100hp plus simply annihilates them. Even my modest 87hp Beemer F800R runs 11.4 quarters and 0-60 times of 3.4 seconds. And bikes do it so easily without resorting to attention seeking antics

The evo knew what had to be done. I feel like that happens more often than not. The dude next to me is driving a fast car and I'm riding a fast bike. We sit there awkwardly for a few seconds, then who ever accelerates slower starts to speed up more to try and get ahead, then I accelerate even more to keep that from happening, then it becomes an all out race.

if you're a new rider stick to a smaller twin. i started out on an sv650 which is plenty fast. the twin's powerband isn't as peaky and abrupt as an inline 4, keeping you out of trouble when cornering and grabbing too much throttle
take the msf course and at least wear a helmet, it has saved at the very least my face and jaw from being mush.

Good for you. Nice to see a responsible rider out there starting on a 250! I would recommend a CBR600 > either of the other to, for a few reason. First the R6 has the most aggressive riding position out of all 600's, making your commute uncomfortable due to the extreme angle of the rider triangle. The zx-6r is great, but the seat is barely a piece of cardboard, once again uncomfortable. Also, the CBR600 has the best midrange torque, better for city driving, and is quite comfortable.

Don't risk your life for something like this. You already know that your bike will out accelerate it, get it on a track day if you want to stretch its legs. All manner of shit comes to mind when the red mist gets going, it's not worth it for the few minutes of adrenalin. Like i said get it on a track day, you'll find the bike's and your limit there. Yes, that's exactly what I'm saying. A motorcycle the size of a 250 has to work much harder at higher speeds to get it's speed up. The piston has to fire many more times than a car's would. Take a Honda Civic or any VTEC engine out there, when it gets to high RPMs, it can go much faster. Many 250 engines are only able to get to about 100 mph, if that, and it's a shaky ride.

Yup, you have to be pretty optimistic, or driving an F1 car, to think your car can beat an R1 in a straightline race... Would have been interesting on a tight twisty road though, whilst a sports bike is no slouch in the corners, even a tame car like a Mitsubishi Evo will corner more quickly due to the simple physics of 4 wheels vs 2 and tyre contact patches.

I get your point yea, but I dont think of my car as just a cage, its not as though I cant stop it and get out at any point I want... So its not like Im trapped ya know. But I feel ya, I just do not feel safe on a bike, So ya know its to each their own.

Even if this were an EVO there is nothing to get cocky about. 2 wheels off start will always get to the top end faster.

I love how the Evo speeds up after the bike takes off, thinking he actually had a chance...

I'm NOT a fan of an Evo at all, but it will take that bike to task in a new york minute. The Evo let off when the bike accelerated. Line up next to a Evo in anything...one of the hotrods I own is a consistent high 10 second LT1, and it can only beat an Evo who races at the same track by two lengths in the quarter. Evo has phenomenal forward grip and that's what makes it run so well.

both are great bikes (assuming you're comparing same years), but I would go with the r6. just personal preference though based on looks. performance-wise they're both about the same

It would cut down on your shift if your middle and pointing finger is at the ready covering your lever..or you can speed shift :-)

Maybe he's from a country that uses the proper measuring system, known as SI units, or metric as it's known to laments.
In that case, 0-60 mph would correspond to 0-100 kph.

@revcom301 Look at the rpm. I was cruising in first gear and shifted to second until I noticed he wanted to race. So I had to pull from low revs in second gear. Once I got some rpm's going he disappeared in my mirror =)

the car wasnt even accelerating hard for more than 2 seconds whereas the bike was gunning it after.

@ferrarithedude Check out the Triumph Daytona 675 too. Really good bike with a bit more torque than the 4 cylinders. It handles great aswell.
Personally I would go for a 1000 if you have the money. It's you who decide how fast you want to go, not the bike. Many of us start out on a 1000..

I just hate it when they don't fang it from the start of the lights. So I'm already 2 car lengths ahead in 3rd gear normally (as im not gunning it just early shifting to a cruise) and then I hear this turbo spooling beside me and ZOOM. So I let out a heavy sigh then I proceed to down shift and put my bike where it belongs to be... IN FRONT!

    Actually not exactly. 96.56 kph = 60mph
There is a reason that drag racing uses the 1/4 mile (1320 ft) as a standard. Drag racing originated in the USA and early adopters of the sport in the UK used the imperial system but over different distances. The world drag racing benchmark is the 1/4 mile with it's embedded language of 60 ft times, ET's and trap speeds in MPH. Another term for the SI (Système international) is MKS or Meters, Kilogram, Second. Few people refer to the metric system as SI.
