One of the most pleasant is to watch a mic mod video and listen to an audio comparison. ❤❤ Maybe one of the most successful vintage designs is the 34mm vintage capsule, still used in pretty advanced studios. Thank you!
I'm building some mics based on that inexpensive body. I found the bodies in Ali Express, and I'm using a board which is a Neumann KM84 circuit modded for large diaphragm capsules. Should finish it this weekend.
Not without some major modifications, unfortunately. To quote Audio Technica specifications, the AT2020 uses a "Fixed-charge back plate, permanently polarized condenser" - a type of electret capsule, in other words. The true condenser capsules such as I've used need an external polarising voltage feed, typically around 45V; that is generated by the second PCB in my mods. I don't know if there is room for that in the AT2020 casing?
@@RJTC I once opened the PCB and mic capsule of my AT2020. Inside there is a circuit that requires phantom power to be used. Is the supply enough to run a capsule like yours, sir?
Hi, sorry, but I have not been able to find any internal photos of the Takstar PC220, so I just do not know what capsule or electronics it uses. Also, they are not a common or cheap mic, I cannot really justify buying one just to dismantle.
I've had them both from ebay and AliExpress - if you search "34mm condenser capsule" and find ones that look identical to the ones I've used, they should be the same. eg. these look to be the same ones: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/314540556347 www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004639295551.html
Hi, sorry, no part number. The original I got was from ebay, the others have been bought by comparing appearance and size. These are a couple of examples that appear identical: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/144831973477 www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001812729736.html
The AT4040 appears to use a true condenser capsule as standard, so it should be possible to swap in other true condenser capsules. There does not seem to be much real technical info about the construction; the only video I've found so far showing the circuit board does not have any good close up views; the noise figure is not fantastic, but without more info I don't know why.

Can i swap out the capsule on at 4040 without modding it
The AT4040? That does appear to have an externally polarised capsule, so any good true condenser capsule should work well.
Hello please will this capsule work on my takstar Pc-k220
