I think I’m this case he decided to keep 120 where it was and moved everything else over to the other side. So 120 stayed + but 6x and 3y became the -. If that’s the part you’re on about

Isn't x^(-¼) ÷ x^¾ = x^-¹... when dividing with the same base don't we simply subtract the exponents? In this case -¼-¾=-1?
X^-¹ is simply 1/X so X is in the denominator
