Chris Sr was right. Jr doesn't listen at all. 1:26 he tells him 3 times in a row to bring his jab hand back lmao and chris just carries on with it at his side
He's like the opposite of Smith who carries a tight guard and keeps his hands high on the approach. I think it's too late to try and get Chris to change the jab. It's ingrained in his style.

Problem with Jnr is he lost a lot of time earlier on in his career when him and his dad tried to do a bag grab instead of learning the fundamentals of boxing. So he wasted a lot of time in England trying to get big fights he didn’t quite deserve. Then spent a lot of time waiting around for those fights rather than learning his craft on the come up. Now at such an advance age it’s difficult to make up for lost time and is getting beat by average fighters because that’s what he has ended up being himself. Just an average boxer. Trouble is he doesn’t realise that himself. He still thinks he is an elite boxer but has truly never been elite.

Not looking good for Eubank here to be honest. That's Vaughn Alexander, 37 years old and 18-7 in his pro career, and Vaughn landed the best shot of spar from what we saw.

keeping the jab hand low allows you to throw it from an angle your opponents cant see so you tend to land it ALOT, but you get countered alot too... Froch used to do it all the time. leave his left hand down, land a qualuty jab then get hit with a right hand over the top. its all down to what style you want to employ, someone like smith has a much tighter guard and almost never has his left hand down, but his jab is alot slower and less accurate, but he doesnt take the risk of being countered and hit with right hands
Difference is froch had a chin of steal and amateur pedigree too know how to defend and move whilst doing it
@@kierangower247 Froch deffo had a good amateur career winning ABA's and medaling at the world championships but his defence was always pretty sloppy in the pro's especially against the top fighters in the second half of his career, direll, taylor, ward, groves, pascal, kessler all landed hurtful shots on him multiple times quite essily, but as you say he had a chin of granite which allowed him to box that way with 1 hand down, but when froch was the same age as Eubank is now he also got put on his backside by Groves in rd 1, and had that punch been at the start of the round and not the end i think he would have been stopped bcus he still looked insteady at the start of the 2nd. Chris is no different, he got caught with a shot like Froch did except his was during a combination but bcus there was so much time left in the round wasnt able to see it through. the situationd are similar but obviously we cant compare Eubank to Froch because Carl was levels above what Eubanks ever been at, If Eubank can bring something similar to what Froch did against Groves (who was clearly the better technical boxer) then Chris could win the renatch, but its a big ask to stay focussed for 36min

The version of Eubank jr who fought Arthur Abraham, Nick Blackwell and even Yildrm would beat Smith imo. He needs to get back to that super aggressive style

@@Ancantar also did you notice that even though this is a small snippet of him sparring he never listens to any of the instructions from Bomac! Bomac kept telling him to bring his hands back home, Chris didn't do it! Bomac told him to double the jab, Chris didn't do it! Bomac told him that the opponent was looking to counter and to take a half step back, Chris didn't do that either! Bomac was telling him to stay off the ropes, Chris immediately backs himself into the ropes! It's never a good thing when you don't listen to your coach. He's not a bad fighter but he always seem to want to do his own thing. He has a great coach in front of him and if he wants to have any chance of winning this rematch he has to rectify these issues!

Hope he had additional sparring partners. Stylistically Alexander is skillful but patient and a counter puncher that operates out of the philby shell.
Smith has a high work rate and operates out of a high guard. Will be critical for eubank to work with folks who use the high guard so he can work on manipulating the guard and staying or slowing or accelerating pass smiths tempo. Hope his prep has been the right one for what he needs to win. Scott Fitzgerald, Virginia ortiz , deryvychenko, Tim tzyu would have been ideal sparring partners
He looks disciplined. Last fight he trained himself.
eubank is a genuine warrior. smith could be in for a surprise this time. smith has to remember the beating he took from canello.

I definitely could see this rematch end in Bomac and Jr’s favor if Jr sticks to keeping Liam away using the jab, just as Bomac said in between the rounds in the video. However, if Jr keeps going away from what Bomac is telling him to do in the middle of the rounds, and if he continues to just let the feedback and instructions from Bomac go out the other ear just as quick as it went in the first, it’ll really be a problem and I don’t see this fight going very long. Hopefully Jr’s worked on this since this was recorded and if they have then an un victory for Jr is very possible.

Eubank's hand is still way too low when he's on the back foot going into the ropes. That got him in trouble last time. Eubank also needs to throw the double jab more, but I don't have confidence that he will in the actual match.
Pity every half decent fight is on ppv. It's a quality match tbf, but ....

Smith is a top quality fighter with a brilliant style but I want Eubank to win. EUUUUUUBANK! If not, I'll be supporting Liam in all his fights regardless.
Vaugh Alexander didn't do terribly in this spar. But, stylistically, he's a very different fighter to Liam Smith. Very stiff and using a cross-guard-esque hand position. I can't see how this would help to prepare for Liam Smith.

He's making the same mistakes that got him KO...The sequence just played in this video..He ducked into a left uppercut..Liam backed him up..Understood his defensive sequence...tracked that uppercut..maybe the 3rd punch or so..Some habits just won't break..

Chriss is a good guy and really plays up to the camera's and media during the build up to these fights. Lets be honest if it wasnt for eubanks there wouldnt be that much of a buzz about the fight if was liam just headlining a fight.
He definitely has chriss to thank for raising his profile as a fighter. Other than canelo ive never watched any of his bouts...the smiths in general just don't have that charismatic appeal that a lot of fighters also don't pocess..
I've watched Eubanks development over the years going from the shy awkward novice where his dad done all the talking to the articulate, witty showman he is today.

I like him so not hating but it does look like Chris has developed a few bad habits over the years. Leaves himself too open. Also I get the impression he's fallen out of love with the game but just wants to avenge that defeat. Didn't help how weight drained and ill-prepared for Liam he was before. Interested to see if he can rectify the loss. Win or lose still one of the best British fighters of his generation
I'm not a boxer and never have been so please correct me if I'm wrong but to me when he jabs he drops his hand after which leaves the left side of his face well exposed to a counter.
@@choughed3072yeah. Some fighters throw the jab that way and rely on reflexes to avoid counters. Not bringing your hand back does give you more room to see any counter coming back but you have to be fast and I don't think Jr is fast enough.

Eubank is technically inept. Has limited footwork and is very predictable. His entry to attack is always a left jab to the body and is so open for an over hand right. Smith will beat him comfortably.

@@Marvindorfler1 When Bomac was showing him to take a step back he looked more coordinated. His jab almost stops before impact and just rests his glove on the target.
Only explanation I have is that he is trying to spar very lightly so he almost stops his punches before impact. But the reaction time looks bad
Also, if you remember the engine Chris used to have. He never looked out of breath. The training is difficult but Chris seems to have lost a bit of that good stamina he had.
