"Hava Nagila," rooted in a traditional Hasidic melody from Eastern Europe, remains shrouded in mystery regarding its original composer. The song's transformation into a global sensation is credited to Abraham Zevi Idelsohn, a distinguished musicologist and composer who added the iconic lyrics. In an intriguing twist, it is often suggested that the IR drew inspiration from "Hava Nagila" when crafting "En Jodi Manja Kuruvi" for the Tamil film Vikram. Both songs radiate a similar uplifting spirit, capturing the essence of joyous celebrations. IR as always come up with his own creativity even if it is slightly inspired. Ilaiyaraaja's genius lies in his masterful fusion of Tamil and Arabian musical elements in "En Jodi Manja Kuruvi," resulting in a composition that is both unique and captivating. The intricate musical layers he wove into the song distinguish it distinctly from "Hava Nagila. From the beggining Guitar to, Horns to different vocals and the finishing touch with the conversation between the different Percussions. What a genious our IR is. This imaginative exercise of mine, pondering what if the composer of "Hava Nagila" had been inspired by "En Jodi Manja Kuruvi," underscores Ilaiyaraaja's innovative approach and the timeless appeal of both compositions. I hope you like it.
Actually I am the copy cat. I copied both songs and created a new interpreation. Both songs are distinctly different but share the same joyous feeling. Nothing common in them in terms of meloy or structure. So please dont use the word Copy bluntly!
Thaththa thodi thaththa thodiya, that pattern is evident in the hava nagila from the beginning. The basic melodic pattern that defines the en jodi is taken from hava nagila. I did not know abt it, mr percy...its ur video...but dont have to be so politically correct. I am an IR fanatic, more than u. IR has created a fabulous song out of it. He architected the layers, the interludes, rythm patterns.... But it was bafflinf when u said there is nothing in common btw the two.... Even IR would be astonised by your BL.
