They came under attack from shore, and only had a couple 50's, and small arms to fight with, they were transporting troops and were on way back to states for another load, when they heard a call for Anyone in the area......weren't tooled up for a close in fight. Finished mission. Then turned 5" on the bastards. We found the huge welded in section.
Why are CG ships stationed overseas? As far as I remember, other countries don't have their CGs stationed or operating in another ocean far away from homeland.

Nope. From its inception in 1790 to 1967, the USCG was under the Dept of Treasury. From '67 to '03 it operated under the Dept of Transportation. In '03 it was moved to Homeland Security. It can be transferred to the Navy during times of war, and was so during both world wars.
Homeland Security dod is for wartime so if the navy operates in foreign territory it’s treated as an invasion homeland security can operate all over the world and assist foreign nations without making a fuss

With the Chinese navy growing so large so fast, they really should arm the Coast Guard new cutters with anti ship missiles. That’s not entirely correct. It may not have permanent weapons mounted, but its CG crew are armed when needed for law enforcement duties.

Wut they gonna do if they spotted hostile ship? Ram them? Surely navy would intercept it, but the role of coast guard is to buy some time till navy ships were in horizon and to patrol against piracy. They do intercept immigrants that were trying to get in our borders illegally too. What if they have guns? Guns are must for maritime patrolling.
If a coast guard ship was to get in a fight with a Millitary ship the coast guard ship would be sunk because they don't have the firepower of a Millitary ship

With the Chinese navy growing so large so fast, they really should arm the Coast Guard new cutters with anti ship missiles. They could buy them from the Navy off of the LCS ships they are already decommissioning. Supposedly the new cutters are wired for anti ship missiles systems, just not armed with them.
It’s not that easy. The CG already buy a lot from the navy suck as guns or ammo we don’t have as big of a budget as all the other branches.

To all the messages hating on the dude for making this video, most other countries don't arm their coast guards, they just use their navy, for example, in the UK, our coast gaurd is solely for safety to rescue people in trouble, they do take part in illegal immigration as well because obviously they want to make sure they are safe, otherwise everything else is dealt with, at least at the moment, either directly by the royal navy, OR, by our own ministry of defence maritime force, both of which is obviously armed to the teeth, so this video was interesting because a lot of people don't realise that Americans uses 1 force for 2 reasons, just like how you're fire brigade is also you're ambulance service, countries like us, we don't do stuff like that.
