  • One of the most frequently asked questions I get from psychiatrists and psych NPs who want to start building a cash-pay practice is if they can do so while still working at an insurance job.
The quick answer is YES , and it comes down to understanding the difference between NPI Type 1 vs. Type 2. In this video I'm sharing how to get started seeing cash-pay patients ASAP even if you're credentialed with insurance.

Hello, I have a question about NPI numbers for mental health therapists - Does my therapist's "NPI enumeration date" indicate how long they have been practicing? I am trying to get a measure of how much experience my therapist has. Thanks!

If I want to start private medical practice with hybrid model where I want to take insurance and also want to provide cash based services, how do I apply for NPI? I have type 1 NPI with part time hospital job where I am credentialed with all the insurance with my NPI type 1 and now have my NPI type 2 which is not enrolled in the insurances. How I set up my practice with this situation? which NPI I can use ?
