You are damn good at explaining this stuff! I am a Tableau user that is learning excel(Namely Power Query and Power Pivot) and you are the top shelf(alcohol) of this stuff! Thank you.
No idea how I’ve survived this long without finding your channel, sir... THANK YOU!! Not JUST for all the solid, well thought out, and clearly explained information... but for the delivery as well 😁
I have heard this explained a 100 times. Thanks for breaking it down. I have a feeling I will forever see whatever data I am looking at, as people partying in the club. Thank you for that. :)
Tried the outer joins exactly as you describe with ZERO results DOZENS of times until I FINALLY realized there was a space before each of the email addresses in one of the tables... THANK YOU for being my baseline of SANITY!!!
Don't know how I am only just now learning who you are. This is some great stuff. There are a lot of great Excel masters out there, but you have a unique (fantastic) style. The examples you chose are memorable and to repeat what some other posters say, the short examples w/ each join is perfect. Thanks for the video. I'll be back for sure.
Thank you for showing up when you did, and enjoying my style for teaching the joins. It's always helpful to know what helps make this stick for people. we want to have fun, but also learn some stuff. :) Come on back. I look forward to seeing you here again.
Oz!!!! Found you first thru Lynda.com and I wanna say that I’m feelin’ your teaching style as I grew up in The Bay and I wish I would have had instructors like yourself. You have a gift! Just got into Power Query and admittedly I was sleeping on it for a minute. Thanks for breaking down the joins. Appreciate you!
MANUEL! Much love, brother! Thanks for dropping by. I'm glad you're getting int Power Query, it makes things so much easier. And thanks for taking the Lynda courses and following me over here. Be in touch! :)
FINALLY an explanation for all 6 joins!!! I have only ever had to use Left Outer-and was afraid to experiment with the others. THANK YOU for such a great, easy-to-follow video.
Came here after using a ton of VBA in my first week at a new job and coming across your 6 reasons article then reading the trollish comments then following your link to the post about the post. Had to see what you looked and sounded like after that because you are classically cool. Respect.
Thank you so much, you truly saved my a** at work today! I love your approach on teaching these functions in a fun, relaxed way, I really enjoyed listening to your explanations 🤭
Thanks for the great explanation. It's well structured and the rap style repetitive pattern is exactly what I needed because it shows each step over and over but with different examples. Greetings from France!
Excel Tutorial: great video! Well explained. I think (actually I hope...) that this is the first in a small series. Because there is more to be explored.... In opening the tables there is also the option Aggregate.... this is relevant if an item has multiple occurrences. So I stay tuned. Again: well done Oz!! Thank you.
I do love your stuff! New to the Power Query world and came across your channel when I couldn't find the answer to a problem I was having, mainly because I'm never really sure what the right question is to ask :-( Found the solution to a number of additional 'learning hurdles' over the past couple of weeks since and love your relaxed style - lots of fun too :-)
Oz ..great video. These joins are very tricky but with that memorization trick ( the top table is the left and the bottom is the right) will make things easier for me. Thanks
WOW! I'm so glad to hear from you. Yes. The joins are tricky. I had to print out paper and go to a quiet place to really understand these things. I'm glad you won't have to go through that. 😃
Hi oz. Last month I did try all the merges type with two Trial balances to see the differences between the Tb auditors used with adjusted numbers and the original trial balance provided to them: I was able to catch differences among both trial balances. I used one of yours FFF's tricks ( full outer joint) and I worked like a charm,. Please , keep the videos coming for low tech accountants like me. Thanks again.
Last month, I was able to use one of your tricks from the FFF series which are really helpful : I used the full outer join. I did compare 2 trial balances : the Tb auditors used with their adjustments and the original one I previously provided : I was able to pin point the differences among those Tb's SIDE BY SIDE. Thanks for posting those type of videos and help low tech accountants like myself. Regards
Actually, here's a video with multiple records multiple criteria. ua-cam.com/video/MQLjW4iHOr0/v-deo.html The challenge you present requires more context because a solution for that concept could go off in all different directions. So, the question is: what's the scenario that would have me bring together several tables with many-to-many relationships?
i don't know how to put it in words but i'll try anyways.. say for example you have one main bank account number now under that bank account number you could have different suffixes like 11 for checking 12 for savings 13 Certificate Deposit etc and so on and from those suffixes you could also have an individual owner, joint owner, owner and co-signer etc.. so basically i'm saying you could have one main account with multiple suffixes and those suffixes could have multiple entities(people) associated with it. lol hope that helps..
WOAH! Thank you so much. Joins were hard for me to understand in the beginning so, I figured it might help others to slow down and have some fun with teaching the joins. 💚
Not sure if the cowboy or football jersey dancer is better ;) They're really a mirror image. As for joins, thx. mega for all explanations! Trying to figure it out...

Hi, how can I join Several Tables in only one select using a visual wizard screen, like we had in Old version of Excel (get and transformation) or what we have in MS Access? Today I'm only getting examples of Merge two in two.
