  • In this short tutorial I'll show you how to easily prepare an EDDM mailing from start to finish. I've done thousands of these and have learned a lot of tricks along the way that will save you lots of time and money. One of them being how to avoid having to print SO many facing slips --- saving you lots of expensive ink-wasting cost.
    → Want my FREE step-by-step walkthrough guide for doing an EDDM mailing?
    🆓 Download it here! highresponsemarketing.com/edd...
    Also, you'll see the sizes that are EDDM compliant and get a good visual of how big each postcard size is in real life. I struggled hard when first starting to know what the sizes looked like when held by a person.
    EDDM (every door direct mail) is a fantastic program that's perfect for restaurants, lawncare services, churches, realtors, and any business wanting to mail to an entire neighborhood/area/city. The postage is SO cheap and the postcards are huge.
    Lastly, if you're looking for cheap, high quality printing, feel free to check out my website printing4supercheap.com or email me at jake@printing4supercheap.com and I'll quote you on anything you'd like. I even offer full turnkey-mailing so you don't have to touch any postcards if you don't want to do fulfillment yourself.

      @@HighResponseMarketing Can you help answer my question please? Thanks! When are you mailing an EDDM the rules have not changed as far as mailing only half of a route right? For example, if a route has 700 stops on it, you would not be allowed to have 400 mailings, right? You need to pay for all 700 and also supply 700 mailings, correct? Also, do all businesses get the EDDM on that route? Thank you for your help.

  • @ThisReactiverse

    As a former mail carrier, I approve of this message. EDDM will make a carrier's day a bit longer, but keep the size to an appropriate size and the problems should be minimal. 6.5 x 8 is super effective, customers don't find them annoying in size and it's easier to handle altogether. I worked on all walking routes so between 6-13 miles a day, so when we had EDDM's our day got longer. If they are the decent size, it makes it less difficult especially if it coincides with an advo day.
    Thanks for keeping the carriers in mind!
    Edit: We call them tubs as well.

      great question, pay ONLINE. Makes it way easier for the clerk at the post office when you dro pit off. Correct, split it into 2 separate days/paperworks but then bring it all to the post office the same day.
      yes ALWAYS, always, always get paid 100% upfront. Since postage and printing are hard costs you do not want to get stuck carrying that bill. Nor do you want to become a bill collector.

    There is also an option to mail a letter size postcard (I'm using a 8.5 x 5.5) as EDDM under the USPS Marketing Mail. It is on the Postage Statement-USPS Marketing Mail section C31 (as of July 22, 2022). You cannot ship them to city routes, but they can be used for Highway, Rural, and PO Boxes and they must be dropped and paid for at a Bulk Mailing Facility.

    • @HighResponseMarketing
      @HighResponseMarketing  11 місяців тому +1

    • @HighResponseMarketing
      @HighResponseMarketing  4 дні тому

      They have to be bundled by no more than 100s. Otherwise the carriers will have a hell of a time delivering them and they'll technically not have to. The bundling lets the carrier grab a reasonable amount and know that it's 100 homes trust me your carrier is not going to count out your cards, and they will probably reject your mailing or it will sit there forever

    On your postcards do you put the stamps and the address on or does the post office do that for you

    • @HighResponseMarketing
      @HighResponseMarketing  2 роки тому

      Because this is an EDDM mailing it doesn't have individual addresses. That's called a targeted mailing. With EDDM, you pick the mail carrier routes that you want to send to and then every piece has a generic looking mark and "local postal customer" written on it. The mail carrier just drops one off at every house on his route.

From what i think i understand i need to buy the physical post cards themselves say (1000 postcards for aprox $140)...then i need to buy 2 EDDM routes thru USPS (equalling 1000 houses for ANOTHER $200)...AND THEN i have to pay for the postage for every single post card that im planning on mailing out (1000 postcards at 50 cents each equaling $500!!!...am I correct???...if so then a simple EDDM campaign adds up quick and can be a bit much for a young start up

    • @HighResponseMarketing
      @HighResponseMarketing  2 місяці тому

      thank you! sorry for the confusion. Let's say you want to send 1000 postcards out your breakdown would be like this:
      approximately $250 or so for printing
      approximtely $208 for postage (eddm is 20.3 cents per piece currently in 2024).
      So you're total all-in is about 46 cents per piece.
      Considering a stamp alone is 68 cents, not including even printing, you can see what a bargain EDDM is. And if you do higher quantities the printing cost comes down to even less.

      Hey Patty, this is a tough one to answer. So technically, no it wouldn't count. Copy paper is pretty thin, and you'd need about 3 sheets of it to make it thick enough to qualify. BUT I can't really imagine a postal clerk checking that as long as the height & width match (which for 8.5x11 is fine). I asked my local clerk and she said they'd have no real way of checking thickness so she doesn't see why anyone wouldn't accept it.
      What I think you should do, is simply talk with your local postal clerk - who will probably put you in touch with the postmaster) and ask them if it's OK since it meets the height and width. With their blessing, you're good to go! You might actually be able to print thick flyers though for cheaper than you could make copies. Feel free to email me for a quote if you want! contact@printing4supercheap.com

    • @HighResponseMarketing
      @HighResponseMarketing  3 роки тому +1

      That's great you're doing it! You have to put the specific and disha for retail EDDM on your artwork, so that way when that prints every piece will have it. The post office won't provide you a permit number for retail EDDM because it isn't needed. You'd have to buy a permit, which makes sense down the road if you plan to do a lot of EDDM but it's a more complex process.

      I probably should make a whole video devoted to this question. It's a legitimate concern. It's a kind of complex answer.
      1: the chances of it happening are very low. a carrier throwing out mail is a pretty risky move, as it's a felony and not very common. (kind of like plane crashes -- they show up in the news now and then but you pretty much assume you'll be safe when you fly).
      2: If you put yourself in the shoes of mail carriers, the mail you would throw out are unassuming letters that look like junk mail. Things that no one will really "miss". Something that colorful and locally relevant would be pretty bold move for a carrier to try to dispose of, plus know that someone locally is expecting it to hit there. It just wouldn't make a lot of sense to throw out compared to heaps of credit card offers and such.
      3. (the most failsafe method) ... when you drop your cards off, ask the postmaster or person at the desk when it will go out. 99% of the time it will go out the next day ... then just go out the next day around 4 or 5pm and drive around the neighborhood you mailed and see if you see your card sticking out in people's mail --- assuming it's a bigger size one.
      4. If you're mailing to more than one route -- a route is generally between 300-650 addresses -- you'll have multiple carriers delivering. They're not all going to just toss your stuff, that would be virtually impossible to happen.

      There should be a barcode printed on the form, did you pay online or choose at post office? Sorry they didn't take it that's so frustrating!!!

      Thanks for your response. I paid online. Have this happened to you before?

      @@blancagiz never. your form doesn't have that barcode printed on it? that's so weird. I would just print out the screens showing you paid and bring it to the PO they should be able to take it no problem. That definitely is a glitch somehow
