    Manabe-san is 90years old and his mother language is Japanese. Not only study but also he gave speech in English. It’s amazing.

    Being a Japanese native who discarded the nationality in order to be naturalized as U. S. citizen myself, I found the Japanese reporter's question was offensive. Generally people in Japan don't like a person who thinks differently and questions a lot, they expect you to "behave not to disturb the harmony" and be considerate of others, as Prof. Manabe says. I have a theory that being a small island and experience the most natural disasters so often (earthquake, tsunami, typhoon and hurricane, volcano eruption, you name it) throughout its history, Japan may cultivated the culture where an individual not to act differently, not to stray from herd in order to survive? When a massive natural disaster hit, acting different means death and somehow Japanese people remember that in their DNA? Anyway, congratulations and thank you to Prof. Manabe, I'm happy that his long time work was recognized at the age of 90.

      I'm Chinese and the situation in China is quite similiar to the one in Japan. So my hypothesis is the influence of Confucianism creates our obedience to authority, to the majority at an early age.

      i would`ve answer to that question: (why do you care ?)そもそもどっちか選べなきゃいけないのは可笑しい。It just amuse me how the media in Japan says "Japanese with American Citizenship Won the Physics Nobel price", by their definition he is not longet Japanese but because He won a Nobel price, the media sudenly fills their chest with patriotism and out of no where "a Japanese won the Nobel price"is in every article with his name written in 漢字when other people who has discarded the Japanese Citizenship don`t get the same treatment...

    50:40 The reason why Dr. Manabe had to choose American citizenship over his native country is because Japan does not allow double citizenship by law. Otherwise, he still is a Japanese scientist as well as American. It actually took Dr. Manabe 17 years of residency in the US to eventually decide to apply for the American citizenship.

    Congratulations Dr. Manabe, you are an inspiration in many dimensions. This Nobel prize is well deserved and has a lot of spiritual lessons too. Though you say you are not an advocate of harmony, it seems to be the driving force behind your work, even your change of nationality from Japanese to the American has a lot in it in terms of love for harmony. Great choice "Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences"

      You mean 50:40? Yeah, that’s very rude.

    • @takumimatsuzawa1774
      @takumimatsuzawa1774 2 роки тому +14

      Yeah it’s disgrace. Japanese media are celebrating his achievements in the US as if it belonged to them. The same thing happened to Nambu who had a tremendous career in the US. Another example was Nakamura at UCSB who invented blue LEDs. His work wasnt properly evaluated in Japan. Celebrating their accomplishments is fine I guess but they should see where credits are due. Manabe’s research has been supported mostly by US throughout his career, and he chose to become an American. It’s his personal choice. That question gave me a sense of mugging his achievement.
      Japanese PM also gave a speech that he’s proud of Dr. Manabe’s achievement as a Japanese(wtf). Dead wrong.

      Not really. At a Prof Manabe level,
      he would appreciate the reporter of Kyoto News, which is liberal media in Japan. That sounded rude but that question was necessary to ask Prof. Manabe and the Japanese goverment.
      What the Japanese goverment has been doing is not allow the Japanese citizens to have dual citizenships and enjoy freedom in the fields.

    • @a-note76
      @a-note76 2 роки тому +1

      I’m pretty sure the Japanese media wanted to report him as a Japanese citizen but they can’t so I guess they are “curious” about his decision to choose the us over Japan. He told us to be curious so what’s wrong with this question tho?

    In most Asian regions including India, Rule of Thumb is that the more you're educated, the better you're at speaking and writing in English. In Japan, it used to be completely opposite. Even today, high level scholars are not expected to make a speech in English. They've never had a single prime minister with decent fluency in English since the beginning of democratic governance. Never in history.

    • @kdnguyen1444
      @kdnguyen1444 2 роки тому +20

      That’s because most other Asian countries have learn science and technology from the West where English is the way to communicate. Japanese is very good at their own, they don’t need English to get good education. They build their science and technology in Japanese.

    Is it an American advantage to be able to do whatever you want and not worry about what others think?
    Isn't it time to start caring a little about other people's feelings?

    • @slugdolphin6377
      @slugdolphin6377 2 роки тому +4

      I think Japanese people are more aggressive than you think. It's considered as good thing that caring someone and bothering someone. It makes unusual person hard to live. Sorry if I offended you, but as a Japanese, I think America is better country at that point. And that's why many people leave Japan.

    EXPANDING UNIVERSE.MENTIONED
    IN HOLY QUR'AN 1500 YEARS AGO
    ALMIGHTY ALLAH THE ORIGINATOR TO THE UNIVERSE AND CREATOR OF THE MANKIND
    Who can claim 1350 years ago that the universe is expending?
    والسماء بنينها بايد و انا لموسعون o
    " And the heaven We built it with power, and indeed, We are the expander "
    (And We it is Who make the vast extent, thereof )
    (Qur'an, 51:47)
    Until 1931, physicist Albert Einstein believed that the universe was static. An urban legend attributes this change of perspective to when American astronomer Edwin Hubble showed Einstein his observations of redshift in the light emitted by far away nebulae - today known as galaxies.
    After Hubble discovered that the universe was expanding, Einstein called the cosmological constant his "greatest blunder."
    At around the same time, larger telescopes were being built that were able to accurately measure the spectra, or the intensity of light as a function of wavelength, of faint objects.
    Almighty Allah is the Creator of the whole universe.He says:
    Should He not know what He created? And He is the Subtile, the Aware.
    The knowledge of scientists is very limited and insufficient to understand the universe! ! Recently NASA launched JWST. This telescope will see the beginning of the universe and how it evolved. Today the scientists accepted that they know very little about the universe.
