The core of Nippon army DLC would be easy > take Shogun 2 FotS units, upscale and polish them to visually. There. 60% of the army done. One dragon model can be used for big dragons as well as the dragon cavalry. Same with the shrines. The komainu lion statues can be re-textured HE lions, there another thing done. Same with Kirin cavalry and Kirin mounts for heroes, re-textured unicorns/stags. There done. Most of the things for this army can be created by re-using existing Shogun skins, and then retexturing other existing units in TWW. Only real new thing would have to be the Oriental Dragon, the Tengu, and the shrine. As far as easy to make DLC this is the go to faction. Especially when you think about Tomb Kings and Vampire Coasts which required a lot of work to be done. As for Vampire coast the work was not just visual since there was not much of a source material to use when designing all these new units. So Nippon is easy. Cathay to a degree as well, thanks to the TW: Three Kingdoms, again a lot of re-texturing and reusing existing models would give you solid 60%-70% of the faction done right there.

GW dropped the ball by not expanding Warhammer Fantasy world, such a shame, style of these minis really fit.

I wouldn't count it out yet. After the Vampire coast, a warhammer total war 3 expanding the map out east for Cathay and Nippon isn't out of the realms of possibility now if still unlikely.

But it's so freaking true.
GW were completely stupid for not expanding Warhammer Fantasy back when they had a chance to.
I mean, despite what some dumb people might say, people would've probably ate up the factions of the far east based on the aesthetics alone.
I mean, Monkey Kings and Kirin such from Cathay. Samurai and Ninja and other Japanese mythological stuff from Nippon. Demi god warriors and giant elephants from Ind.

It's beautiful! But I don't think there will be dragons of this type. They would be too similar to the Cathayan ones . Who know it knows, from this day (7th of April, 2022) Nippon is confirmed. I think the CA will inspire a lot from this miniatures, most of the would be actually lore friendly referring to the Warhammer wiki. Maybe with less artillery pieces , and more Navy orientated units because Nippon is a local sea power.
