I always enjoy watching your videos, Steve, but, can someone tell me why I would buy a "cinematic" quad, with a camera as good as the DJI 03, only to have to add ANOTHER camera to it because the props are not only IN the image, but take up such a large portion of the image?! Why bother putting the DJI 03 on it if the very design renders footage unusable for anything "cinematic"??
Easy answer. So it is apparently you are not a camera guy or cinema photographer. Tiny peanut cameras like the DJI O3 can only hand certain lighting conditions & produce a non-pro image. You need a much better camera for higher resolution and greater bit depth for editing and cropping, hence external cameras. For myself I do like the image from the DJI O3 when I’m flying around and exploring on days where the lighting is just right. I could not use the footage for anything professional as the image falls apart if you try to fix the lighting.

We’re paying more for that and they’re putting props in front of the camera by design. Some people ARE satisfied with the quality of the video from the 03 and after all, they spent their money on that product. I wouldn’t accept this quad as a gift.
It has the silhouette of a DJI FPV. But it appears to be well balanced from the vid. Also appears to be a Jello free flight. No prop wash either? If so then this would be a great quad for cine action cam flying
Nice, but )) I recently finished assembling and tested the new cinewhoop in my fleet on a speedybee bee35 frame. And despite the fact that this is a cinewhoop, on the test flight it achieved 117 km/h and its flight time, even with speed and dive tests, was 9 minutes 15 seconds. I would like more from the open 5''
With the quality of the 03 system, I am disappointed that the props are in the frame as you pointed out. It seams to me that if you specify it is cinematographic drone, no props visible would be the first requirement🤔. Other than that a nice quad. Great review as usual. 👍👍😀
If you buy an average CINEMA drone, the price is usually around $4000 and the props are always in the frame. This is because you do not film with the pilots camera but rather with the $3000 camera you place on top.

Great video! I was reading about betafpv’s pavo35 quad. They advertise a thrust to weight ratio of 9.4:1 …. Is that even possible?? An F-16 can avg around 1.2:1 and the space shuttles with the SRBs could hit 1.8:1. So that quad can accelerate at nearly 10 times the earths gravity? That has to be a misprint, right??

Nope. DJI is all about beginner flight modes like Normal and Sport modes with active optical flow assistance, GPS assistance, barometric assistance and sometimes obstacle avoidance assistance. None of that exists in the FPV hobby.
To be honest I would check the website of the company that makes the AFTERBURNER. (2RAW). That company ONLY makes drones for heavy lift cinematic cameras, which means everything they create is for cinema (well balanced). Their drones are not made for FREESTYLE, however if you wish to film FREESTYLE, then go with a different drone.

I heard there are issues with RC signal when using ELRS, I was just wondering all said and done which drone would you personally choose for job, as you’ve flown both, and given a simple task of capturing fast moving scenery footage for various environments, and some occasional S-turns what do you think is worth the money, considering both are the same price….
Hi Steve, this is jose manuel from the Canary Islands, I have a question for you: you praised this drone quite a bit more than usual for cinematic usage, IMHO it has a quite unusual design being a true X frame and having the props right in front the DJI camaera as yo certainly stated, you praised its good behaviour and tune, and I wonder what the heck you found so good in this drone for cinematic use as oposed to for example a dead cat framed Nazgul 5 form the same brand, why would someone interested in cinematic use prefer this one instead of a dead cat design Nazgul 5 ??? regards from the Canary islands the Hawaii of the Atlantic
I’m a cinematographer and get paid to make professional videos with good quality cameras. This drone is designed for that in a small form factor. This is not your typical FPV Drone that you are used to. I’m guessing that is why you are confused. My advice is to visit the 2RAW website and have a look at the drones there for cinematography.
I have two questions for you captain! 1. Did you fly in its default Angle mode? 2. Is this drone really supposed to feel like you’re flying a brick in the air? Maybe it’s cause I use a full sized GPH12 and CNHL batteries.

The DJI 03 unit gives the pilot a crisp image through the goggles, but it seems this drone is specifically designed for carrying a camera which will capture video. For this purpose the props in the picture are not a factor.
Deadcat drones are never well balanced. X-Frame is always the best in that category. Deadcat frames exists for the purpose of people who wish to film using the internal camera.
I dont understand the hype around this. I dont agree that this would be more aerodynamic than any other... just a canopee makes you believe that. I also think unless you dont use a very high tilt angle for the gopro, the props will be in the frame - very cinematic. You dont need double vertical arms for 5 inch drone, these many bolts just gonna make it more heavy and give you more momentum, more drift. Looks kinda cool, but you dont see your quad anyway ;)
Good video $700 and a lot tmore in Europe, yes 20% more, for less than half the price you can get the avata 2 with no props in view of its O4 camera , no gopro needed as same as Osmo 4 camera 4k 100fps, nearly 20 minutes battery, flies well in acro not that you did / will do much acro with the afterburner. A no brainer regards from England
Please note that anyone in the FPV hobby would never compare the Avata 2 with the Afterburner. Now if you are a newbie to FPV, then YES, the AVATA 2 is a really good beginner FPV drone, although you need the remote 3 since the motion 3 is an item non-existent in the FPV Hobby for good reason. But if you have a $1500 quality camera that you wish to place on an FPV Drone for professional filming in all lighting conditions, then the pro photographers pilots will go with the afterburner.
They should have made this a "pusher" style, that way you'd probably have props out of view. I understand this was built for cinema but no professional is going to use a Gopro for their shots. There's just absolutely no reason to have props in view with an 03 for an "amateur" cinema drone
I have another problem, Ezmax pilot pro, lost port, lost all settings after firmware update, try almost everything, it said connected to betaflight with ID, 10 seconds and it off, can't enter settings, any help please, please
Firmware update? There is no EMAX Firmware update (at least there normally is no such thing in the FPV hobby). Or did you make the newbie mistake and click on FIRMWARE update in Betaflight Configurator? Hope not. For years, in many videos I warn newbies that doing such a thing will wipe their FPV drone of all settings and configuration.
@CAPTAINDRONE798 when I contact Pilot pro emax to betaflight, if asked me about update to newer versions, MATEKF411RX I did it , than I lost all data and settings, lost Gyro and sensors, lost video vtx totally 😢 😞

@@ThecitypetsThe fix, to restore everything back to factory is to go on the EMAX website and look for a DUMP file for your model of drone. If you can’t find one, then you have to ask EMAX for one. Once you get the DUMP file, you then open the file and copy all the code. Then go in Betaflight Configurator to the CLI tab and PASTE all the data. Let it load, then type SAVE. There are lots of UA-cam videos that explain how to load a DUMP file.
GoPro has so much distortions in the image. This trend should die now that you have dji 03 camera or at list use another camera without these distortions when the propellers appears in the 03 camera video in some drones like this one
Ha ha…. I get a million people that always claim their body parts (mostly faces) are in my videos, welcome to the club. UA-cam prefers that videos on UA-cam do not use Video content from other videos without the content creators permission. When it comes to Thumbnails, UA-cam does not care, and in most cases the thumbnails are often provided by the company (the company that submits a product for review… I.e., they use the same picture on their website), so content creators have no control over that, and UA-cam doesn’t care about Thumbnails which is why most popular Thumbnails on UA-cam are always of Celebrities or scantly clad women. The thumbnail could be changed to Tom Cruise holding the drone & it would be perfectly fine.

How BADASS...that's my favorite rc plane to build since 1rst grade and my first RC Modeler magazine.

Hello, how to configure GPS rescue?
Go into betaflight configurator and make sure EXPERT mode is turned on, then look for the FAILSAFE tab.
