    What kind of tacos will you make with this seasoning and how will you customize your seasoning mix?

      Had to leave a comment as I haven't bought store taco seasoning since you shared this recipe on your Chile madness site. 👍😎Unfortunately I can't make it as hot as I want as I'm the only true chili head in my house. 😁

    Another one of ur recipes I will be making. My wife gets her taco seasoning when they have it from Natural Grocers. I think I’m going to try this to SPICE IT UP by adding some really nice powder we get from a local spice store. Thank you so much for your different suggestions especially since they are usually spicy. I LOVE THE HEAT!!!! Again thanks

    I've been looking for a nice taco seasoning recipe. This sounds great! Just got some ancho and guajillo chile powder. My wife got me a molcajete and I have some chile de arbol so I think I'm set. Thanks for sharing. Love your ideas!

    I haven't done many customizations as far as taco seasonings go as there is not that much available locally. But I can always freshen up a packaged seasoning with some complex heat like you do. I would sure like to see a video concentrating on Scotch Bonnets. 😀:) I am looking for seeds to grow my own. 😉

      Yep, good way to do it if needed. I do LOVE Scotch Bonnets and might grow them again this year. I hope to do some video recipes soon with them!

    Do you crush the Mexican Oregon or leave it as is ?

    • @ChiliPepperMadness
      @ChiliPepperMadness  2 роки тому +1

      I just mix it in. It breaks up a bit as you stir. You can crush it if up if you feel it needs it.

    Wow, this looks like such a flavourable mixture. Of course I don’t have all of these seasonings at home, but I will certainly remember them for my future dishes ☺️

    Do you de-seed you peppers when you dry your peppers? I find the seeds add some bitterness. I did an Aleppo pepper last year and dried with and without seeds and like the without better. I substitute the Aleppo when recipes call for paprika

      David, yes, I usually do. Some people do find the seeds to be bitter, particularly from dried pods. Plus, the seeds change the color of the mixture when grinding them down.

    How much per pound of ground beef would you use? Tablespoons? Teaspoons? Per pound?

    • @ChiliPepperMadness

      I mentioned this in the post - use a ratio of 2 tablespoons taco seasoning mix to 1/2 cup water to 1 pound of ground beef or other meat.

    Is this for one batch of Chile? If so. How many pounds of meat did you use. Thank you

      You will usually use 2 tablespoons per pound of meat, though you can use more or less as desired. This makes roughly 4 tablespoons.

    Do I use this entire batch for 1 pound of beef ?

      Randy, when making tacos with ground meats, use a ratio of 2 tablespoons taco seasoning mix to 1/2 cup water to 1 pound of ground beef or other meat. Enjoy!

    • @ChiliPepperMadness
      @ChiliPepperMadness  2 роки тому +2

      For making tacos, but works great as a seasoning for other things, like burgers and other ground meats and more.

    You can use basic red chili powder...... provided you buy it form any online New Mexico outlet. We have souther red chili (usually hotter) or northern red chili usually not as hot but deeper flavor, If it is from NM and it says HOT it means hot, even the moderate is really spicy. Mild is still hotter than what you would buy in one of thos packages, make your own this is a good reciepe and store it. Throw out unsed after six months because it looses flavor over time. Why I do not use packaged taco seasoning, also next time you are in grocery store pick up one of the seasoning packages and look at the back and read all the chemicals in it and then you will want to make your own. I throw out all my spices after they have been in the cabnet after 6 months and buy new. Wonder why you cooked something and it did not come out like you cooked it last time..... how long has that Sage been setting in the spice rack?

      Yep. I have some GREAT chili powders from New Mexico that I love. Fantastic flavor. After about 6 months, definitely best to dump the old seasonings.
