This week we try out some whipping and live bait action. We primarily try fishing for some ulua and goatfish to get our catch and cook on, hoping for a papio or two in the mix. However, as you will see, some failures occurred this trip… Many failures… It is all good though because we still managed to land some great goatfish, and hook up onto some type of monster, maybe that elusive GT we have been trying to land for so long. It was a fun trip, which by the end of it wasted us physically, hiking with gear can be nuts. Alright!

Yea we try to go for most anything when we whip, hoping for another big boy soon. Those were monster eels!

Hey guys love your enthusiasm. I was wondering if you know of an app or something to ID fish in Hawaii. One thing I noticed is how knowledgable you are on species, and there seems to be so many of them. I photo ID app would be great for us novices. Going to Kauai again in March...cant wait.

Freeze em..how long you guys usually keep fish frozen? I get a few, freeze em, and if we no eat em after a week, I give em to my friends....

If you package super well it can last a week, we try to eat them within a few days tho
brah, I snagged the biggest trumpet fish I've ever seen today. bugga was at least 5 lbs and over 3 feet long. never ate them though, how does it taste?

@Shaka Fishing - you could fix that pretty easily; take off the butt cap and epoxy a dowel through it and then throw one tiger wrap over the split grip. Then your all good!

6oz x 6oz fiber glass with carbon wrap should fix the pole, good stuff!! 🤙🏾🤙🏾🤙🏾
You should try to make both sides flush with each other and shave a bit of the front edge of a dowel and put about 5 inches in each side
How do you not get snagged without a floater? You just keep reeling in?

Always barbless! For the goat it is size 4-8 depending.

You know them black huggy a good fish to eat you peel a skin off takes a lot of work but it's worth it then you take the skin off the bones I mean the meat off the bones then you wash them get yourself on plate with the paper towel then you put Hawaiian salt from the back no scared with the salt then you put in the icebox next morning take it out wash all the salt off then put them on paper towel back and ice box then 12:00 come then you rinse off all the salt and you put them back in your icebox dinner time comes around make sure all the salt off the meat but you make sure you start one pot of rice then you deep fry the meat and you sit down say your prayers and you diving and you eat good that's all my grandma taught me

cut the broken part off and put one butt cap.

Shaka Fishing if you don't want to put the long stainless one, and if you don't mind the pole being shorter, just put a rubber butt cap that most plugging rods use.
This is how you fix it buy new one and don't stick it in the Rock like that again carry a pole holder haha
Put a dowel in the end and cap it with a stainless steel butt.
+Tom Mck where do they have good dowel? Or just find some pvc that fits?
I would use a dowel to me it's stronger go to any hardware store. Hell take the pole so you get a perfect fit.
