I am a type 1 diabetic and always have been. The teachers didn't understand and always thought I was pretending. My senior year in highschool my sugar was 9. I was so confused and only 1 thought get some sugar. I tried to run out and passed out before I hit the classroom door. I woke up in the ambulance. My teacher said nice try buddy. The emt told him this was serious and I could have died. I was shakey the rest of the day.
Holy crap, 9!!!!! The lowest I’ve been was 30 something. But if you had a cgm or pod you could have just ripped it off and gone,”THEN WHY IS THERE A HOLE IN MY BODY!”
Anyone that experiences this, definitely tell your parents so proper steps can be taken please. The school should have notified your parents anyways. Thank God you're okay.
Should a teacher or any other person in a position of authority ever restrict your ability to tend to your medical needs, tell them you're having a medical emergency and are in need of insulin, or whatever it is you need to do, and ask them if they would like to be personally liable as if anything happens, they will be. After you've informed them, continue to do as you need to do without interruption. I agree your dad would have had much to say about this, but you should not have kept it from him.
