Walmart must have thought it was Christmas every day when Berm Peak Express featured the Ozark trail several times on his channel. The first vid got 647k views and he even compared it to his $13,000 Titanium bike and it wasn't totally disgraced. Btw you guys are great, been watching since the start. Never fail to be entertained and laugh my head off. Also learn a thing or two.
If the GT Aggressor Pro switched to a 1X and either got a tapered head tube or at least a 44mm head tube. It would be awesome. I still like the way that bike rode with minimal upgrades. I spent more to get my Axum to ride as nicely.
I love my OTR. Everything except frame has been upgraded now. But even with just a advent groupset, and Epixon fork changed the bike immensely. I wish some of the budget bikes would come with even cheapie air fork vs the same heavy, noisy Suntour coil fork.
Been Marathoning your Channel, love it. Using info here and a bit of inspiration, i went off trail and picked up an Eastern Bikes Alpaka 29". for $399 I think it ticks the marks for me. We shall see after a few months! Keep it up, love the Channel.
Found a interesting 29er for you guys to check out if you can get your hands on one. Casa Bikes, Belfort COATL 29. Air fork, shimano alivo 1x, Clark hyd brakes, tapered head tube, all for 199.99??? Look into it!
Just got my first mtb a few weeks ago.. Bought used.. Actually went to buy a gt aggressor pro and ended up with a specialized hardrock sport for $140. Needs some work... Fork is springy and the shifting is clunky... Oh and the brakes appear to be Wish or Temu specials that don't do much... But thanks to you guys I'm finding all sorts of budget options for upgrades.
The Able bike had so much potential. GT Aggressor should be disqualified as it's older than your older viewer. Ozark Fails are just that, fails. Nice overview of what you guys reviewed this past year.
12:34 The RD is a great way to save money, on any build, don't spend money on expensive RD, spend it on suspension, a better frame, same with expensive chains. I say to avoid Deore brakes due to reach effecting the power, rendering them useless for short fingers, pads barely touch the rotor, but the RD is a nice deal.
Good video. But I agree with the Wolfman, OTR is a much better bike than the Able. It is more buildable. Nice geometry, (hopefully small size for tick soon,) lots to do to the OTR, but also just the right frame for it. While it may only take a 2.4 in the rear, not really sure you need a lot more than that. An air fork, hydraulic brakes and a proper group set, dropper and hollow bottom bracket maybe a nicer saddle and grips (of course pedals), make this a winning bike over any LBS bike at this price range, upgrades included.
18:40 On my Nicolai/Geoemtron G1 they went with 30.9 cus they went for thicker seat tube for extra strength, G15 had bigger diameter, i think it was 31.6, but not as thick tube I think. But G1 is an enduro, freeride bike. So strength a priority. I don't remember if Specialized has the oversized tubes anymore, but they used to have 34mm seat tube diameter, so almost no seat post fit, as they only Specialized had a seat post in this diameter, so you had to use a shim. Bigger you go bigger the internals can be in the dropper post, and bigger the stanchion, so stiffer it can be. Smaller it is, smaller diameter it is of course, but the 34mm never caught on. Looks like 30.9 and 31.6 seat tube is the norm now. Industry should find the sweet spot and go for one size. But shims exist so if it's too small diameter post you can use a shim.
You guys are a bad influence…… I now have 2 mongoose malus (not on this list), Ozark Trail Ridge, and Able core sport. I’m looking to get the updated Vibe in medium, a second Oz ridge and that Canyon 5. (There are others on my list also that continues to grow beyond reason) On the positive side, it has inspired me to clean the garage to make room. Now I have room for more bikes 😁 I really enjoy my Ozark Trail Ridge. I did upgrade to a squishy, comfortable seat, and a better fork is on the list. The fork it came with is surprisingly ok for how I ride. But the rest will only be upgraded if something breaks or wears out. The geometry fit me, I didn’t have to get used to it. I’ve probably got more miles on it than my much pricier Co-Op 1.3 that is arguably a better bike. The quick release axles a a factor because it’s easier to load into and keep in my Corolla so I can ride almost anytime. I did buy extra seat posts to cut down so shorter riders can ride the Able core sport and the Ridge. I bought a few of the bikes so someone else that doesn’t have a bike could ride with me. But I’ve found as I switch them out, the same trail becomes a different adventure with each bike.
Ha ha bad influences!!! If it were not for us your garage would of still been filled with crap 😆😆 thats great, thanks for the comment and such a good idea with the seatpost use for both bikes. 😀
Holy cow, the Agressor Pro is back to $799 and the Avalanche is $1199. Wonder if Able is out of business. Website is gone and facebook page has not been updated in a while.
2023 wasn't a good year for budget bikes when you look at all the cool bikes that came out or refreshed in 2022, hopefully all the bike companies get it together in 2024
Should check out big brand lower priced bikes trek has left overs marlin gen2 5 550 6 650... I just traded my son's basic trek they gave me 150 for his as trade marlin gen2 6 500 after trade, not bad... got my son the new nishiki colorado 27.5 $350. Both bikes overlooked... I'd like a polygon full suspension some day..
I thought I was going crazy so I did a side by side comparison, and the Royce union in you initial impression video and the bike that is linked in the video description are two completely different frames. 😂
How are they different? I just looked, and it looks just like our bike. It shouldn't be any different unless it's showing a different frame size🤔🤷♂️. Maybe one of us is crazy 🤪 😜. Seriously though, let us know what we aren't seeing, please.
The geometry of the top tubes are different and the seat tubes are different lengths which effects the rear triangle. I could go on but you're the big time UA-camrs 😂 no but seriously I swear the geometry and frame shape of the Royce union in the link looks closer to the Ozark Trail ridge. Look at it from my point of view go to time stamp 206 in the real time review and click the link in the video on something larger than a phone. ✌
@brentsmith2663 Oh, ok. I think what's messing you up is the bike in the picture is probably just a different size than what we have and maybe different from the listing. The seat tube length is how they determine frame size(you probably already know that though😉). Thanks for the clarification.
I’ve worked on two GT aggressor pros for two different people and the bike somehow is more than the sum of its parts. The only thing I really don’t like is the 34 x 34 headset.
Somethings going on with why people liked Ozark Trail I’m not gonna be specific, but it doesn’t make sense because someone I know bought one and I am definitely not impressed. I like that Canyon.
The early “medium” Vibe is the same size as the current “large”. Updates aside, I borrowed a tape measure and compared what was available in a local store. Both are 19” frames 🤦🏻 All models weren’t available to compare.
I do loke when tick get over excited but we also like Wolfmans voice of reason (kinda like a conscience 😂). Have to say, im with wolfman on the list of bikes, sorry Jeremiah 😂 Take care guys 😎🍻👍
Should donate some of the bikes you don't plan on bringing back, maybe to a family organization or church, not only would it help people in need and get more people on the trails that otherwise would not have the opportunity, but, but also could be used as tax write offs
The GT Agressor has needed updated for a few years, 44/44 headtube, 1x drivetrain, 30.9 or 31.6 seatpost, internal cable routing

Agreed, I wish the same. They really need to change some stuff up
Sadly, looking at the GT site, the aggressor has been unlisted. I don't think they will redesign.
Wolftick out of retirement 🦃🌮
🤣👍🏼
The boys are back in town…. Good to see you all! Hope your recovery is going well.
Thanks, Greg! The recovery is going pretty well, and we are expecting to be on the trails in about another month or so.

My buddy grabbed a Kona Lanai a few weeks ago for under 400. Definitely a nice budget bike
Dang! Was that brand new?

Thanks brother, the newest video everyone is mentioning the Alpaca! Must be something we need to keep an eye out for. Thanks fornthe love brother. ❤️
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS anytime. I’m new here, but saw that crash video, will be praying for a speedy and full recovery! Lol.
Interested in seeing a review of that updated vibe. All the reviews are of the pre-updated version
I agree with Jeremiah. Should g t needs to be updated with the frame❤
Are you planning on upgrading the forks and adding a dropper post to the Ozark Trail Ridge? Love what you're doing!!

And 1500.00 dollars shipping
I bought my Ridge and replaced the A5 with an AdventX and an IXF crankset, Shimano MT200 brakes and I'm super happy with it.

Microshift Acolyte has held up to my weight so far. Great groupset
Love that groupset!

I love the video and could you guys do the GT Avalanche since nobody else done it yet
Man that is a for real possibility!!
I wish I was looking when that royce was that price, that would have been an epic bike to get

I just got their drop bar x on closeout and it is an amazing value for a gravel bike

How's it going🙏
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS Having surgery tomorrow on my knee Turn on five surgeries as of tomorrow
That Royce bike bikes looks like it has a steep head tube angle, but I could be the 8 million mm stem that is throwing me off.
😆😆 Fred!! Dude you ain't kidding, thay stem makes it look like it's got a 90 heasrube angle ha ha
My Polygon Xtrada 7 is a trail beast and budget friendly with components you don't find on other budget bikes

That Royce Union bike has been hovering around $350 since the first video came out 😢
Lots of discount codes all the time. But only XL sizes left. They basically sold out.
I see it has a 24% discount on the web page
It was still discounted for a good while, but you had to enter a constantly changing percentage off code found on their site.

Not like they were during the pandemic. That's for sure.
