Hey I’m trying to get my head around some of this stuff, is 1689 federalism the view that o.t saints are saved by looking forward to the cross and we are saved by looking back? If not can you explain in layman’s terms, thanks

That's part of it. Another apsect of it has to do with the NC being the ONLY place of salvation and that those who were saved in the OT are part of the NC. This is in opposition to say Presbyterian covenat theology.
