I'm thinking there is an underground bullpen and some doctors offices, training rooms etc. Guys like Ohtani want to be able to throw while they are in the dugout area, and not have to go to the bullpen in left field during the game. It allows for him to start throwing as soon as he finishes an at bat, instead of only getting to throw 5 or 6 warm-up pitches (They only get 2 minutes) between innings. Basically, its like a private throwing area. They are common in Japanese stadiums, but usually they are under the bleachers.
Hey Brodie Happy New Year! It goes to show you that instead of crying the blues about a new ballpark like these owners do the Dodgers have kept their ballpark in great condition and what do you know over 60 years old and it looks like new. Take care and good luck in your new endeavor! Jersey Ken
Dodger Stadium has long been known as having one of the more scenic ballparks in the MLB, the BEST manicured field and the largest crowds. With the renovations shortly before the All-Star game they hosted back in 2022 as well as these new underground spaces would make it perhaps the most state-of-the-art stadium despite having one of the oldest stadiums. FYI, Dodger Stadium is the third oldest ballpark in the MLB (only Wrigley and Fenway are older). Dodgers don't need to publicly advertise their new facilities. Having these new amenities on the visitor's side actually show opponents first-hand how world-class an organization it is and how attractive it'd be to play there on a permanent basis.
As a Dodgers fan this is awesome 💙 but also a little sad too knowing there are teams like the A's and Tampa bay Rays out there not catering to their loyal fans
I’m not in construction or hire for major construction projects, but I have hired vendors for 30+ years where the timeline of a vendors work was considered to be mission critical for my client. This is when a contractor’s history of completing projects on time is reviewed in detail and compared across multiple bidders. Plans for handling unexpected setbacks factor in (e.g., handling a collapse at this time, handling archeological delays as these must be incorporated in any major project with digging, etc.) would also be required and reviewed by an independent expert. There’s simply no probable way that this project is not completed on time, save an earthquake or other major disaster too improbable to work into the timelines. I also suspect that the Dodgers marketing team is working on a video to share but will only do so when it is done so as to not freak out fans regarding their ability to complete this project on time.
I went to the adult Dodger camp two years ago and the camp used both batting cages that are on the Dodgers side and visitors side.. Both cages are are really small. Maybe it is an area to warm up a players arm? Who knows what they are doing. Both areas have nice locker rooms and a trainers room along with a snack area and the bathroom area.
If it's 240 feet long, that is divisible by 60 evenly out to 4. 60 ft (6 in) from mound to home. Seems like cage area? Hard to tell but if there's no pipes stubbed up in the concrete floor, there's not going to be any plumbing. So cages would make the most sense. Especially with it right off the dugout. Maybe more of those trajectory pitching machines?
Using Google Earth and the measurement tools, EACH side is roughly 10,000 to 11,000 square feet of added space on the floor level only. Double if it's two stories.
The "cabling" is for heating. It can get chilly at night up there on that mountain top... and it is underground, which can also get pretty cold compared to the exterior atmospheric temperature.
It could be gathering places for company events. I know a few decades ago, my company had a "day at the park" event and there was an area under the stadium where they had food for us. So, it might be something that has nothing to do with the players or cool amenities. Could also be employee areas and storage.
It's making a lot of sense why you were hearing all the drillings going on at Dodger stadium postgame when they had their interviews. The construction crew was already trying to get ahead of the game from the ground.
My guess is upgraded batting and weight room facilities is what is going in these new underground structures and where the current ones are will be expanded/improved clubhouse and other facilities.
I went to few games in 82-84. When I was stationed on the USS New Jersey in Long Beach. Me and a friend of mine would go every time. The Cardinals or Braves came to LA. Dodger Stadium is unique. Especially where it is situated in Chavez Ravine. It is a National Treasure. You have The Golden Gate Bridge and Dodger Stadium as the two American treasure on the west coast.
@rjenkins66bj You forgot the Memorial Coliseum, the La Brea tar pits site on Wilshire and the world's greatest zoo in San Diego. The Getty center for Greek and Roman antiquities in Malibu deserves a mention. Your points are well taken, however. The football announcer during the game called the Rose Bowl the most beautiful stadium in the world. Hard to disagree if you have ever been there.
They are building new state of the art club houses, training facilities, offices for managers and medical personal. This will all be under ground and will not alter the playing field or prior seating arrangements for season ticket holders.
If you know what was there before you'd understand how small it was for them, they had a cool weight room but was cramped and a batting cage, they had a tiny team laundry room but was small, they had a private team kitchen but was small, the locker room was recently renovated and looked cool but for champions they deserve more room and cooler updated equipment.
When you build a stadium the right way the first time( the size, the sight lines, the location ), include the weather, the rest will be history…it’s literally the Notre Dame cathedral of baseball.🎉
It won’t take too long. Those walls will be poured and stripped in about two weeks. Then they’ll immediately start forming a deck over the opening this will take five days to deck then 5 days for MEP and rebar. It will pour in one day, then strip 7 days later. The walls will be waterproofed while the deck is being built, then backfilled with dirt after the deck pours. The backfill should only take about 3 days. Not very big at all.
The apparent similarities in size between both excavation sites lead me to believe that the project might be to expand fan amenities in some way (i.e. restrooms, merchandise or food concessions, etc.).
they’re caving out the baseline club like how Miami and the Yankees have their seats. Both sides already have full size gyms and batting cages so it’s most likely going to be lounges
I agree there will be a high percentage of fans that will have no idea this is there. Hopefully they let us see what they did when it’s finished ✌️⚾️💙⚾️👍👍
Yes, it is interesting. Fortunately, teh construction only needs to complete the roof and then replace the playing surface. The internal portions of the structure can be completed later. In fact, I'd assume that is the case.
It's new clubhouses 4 the players, also it's 2 stories, Dodgers side will be done 4 the start of this season, supposedly... visitors side will be finished & ready 4 the 2026 season... Forgot where I found the information but it's out there if u wanna find out... If u get a peak with construction workers in the pits, they look tiny, those pits are huge!!!!!
Let me try & find where I saw that info, it'll take a hot minute but I'll try... Edit: ok, found it... guess it was a video, guy doing the video is in dodger stadium, gives up close views of the pits & gives info/dates on the construction written at the bottom of the screen, but yea, it's def unofficial but even if it's speculation, seems believable enough...
I wonder how many of these improvements will allow the Guggenheim group of owners to better use Dodger Stadium as an even better multipurpose facility 🤔
It's to add and modernize the home and visitors locker rooms and dugout. The visitor side won't be finished by next season. I have no idea what will happen for visiting team.
The interior area may not be ready for the start of the season. They'll get the ceiling put on and finish the interior during the season. This is new square footage and they probably have the old clubhouse intact.
Knowing the Dodgers with their esteemed heritage can guarantee every inch of that interior will will be decorated in Dodgers class. For a first rate organization they must keep a good public image for the fans.
This probably isn't part of his recruitment, but this will be one of the main reasons why Roki could pick the Dodgers due to this huge investment in the team's clubhouse. I see why the Dodgers been quiet about this project as Roki want his meetings to be private as well.
I think it may also be part of new premium seating. I received an email for tickets in the new 3rd base club going for close to 100k for 40 games in the first 4 rows.
The Dodgers are way ahead of the game. My guess is they are building the new parallel Dodger Stadium right before our eyes. It will be built on the same footprint as the current stadium with an even larger seating capacity. Dodger Stadium is the largest stadium in MLB seating 56,000. And they fill them. Since they average almost 4,000,000 fans per season, more seating will offset some of the payroll. I can see the new Dodger Stadium seating between 58,000 to 60,000! So the infrastructure for the new stadium is already being put down with new sections phased in. Oh, those tricky Dodgers. Who knew!😮🤔🤫
Every time I go the Dodger Stadium it always looks brand new. This place is easily the best baseball stadium in America if not the world. It is a perfect compliment to SoFi Stadium down the freeway a few miles in Inglewood. LA amazes me every visit.

As an outsider to California - I’m here in Toronto - I still find it absolutely interesting in hearing your take on things. It’s highly transferable and very easy to want to stay in the know through you, and your voice. Thank you! Hope to have you come up to Canada to do your hockey thing, among others. Hey Brodie Happy New Year! It goes to show you that instead of crying the blues about a new ballpark like these owners do the Dodgers have kept their ballpark in great condition and what do you know over 60 years old and it looks like new. Take care and good luck in your new endeavor! Jersey Ken
Need a larger locker room for the upcoming WS celebrations. 😮
Dodgers have a 25 year $8 billion tv contract. You can’t compare them to Oakland or Tampa who have less revenues.
Heard a rumor that the new construction is field level stadium clubs like Raiders stadium and others
Looks like a new Bullpen/ Batting Cage area to me.
Cheers mate. great input. Dodger fan from Down Under
I was involved in the construction of the dugout and locker rooms back in the early 2000’s.
Part of Olympics 2028 upgrades too, right? Big city budget for all the things.
No public money goes into Dodger stadium.
@@tbx59 No public money is going into hosting the Olympics either. Just like 1984 Olympics, it is all privately financed.
KTLA 5 reported a month ago that they're new clubhouse areas. Video is called "Dodger Stadium undergoing rennovations" on their channel
Those cables coming from the hole may be for a heated floor, but this is California you wouldn't think the need is there.
It's underground, things can get pretty cold when you're underground.
It's making a lot of sense why you were hearing all the drillings going on at Dodger stadium postgame when they had their interviews.
The construction crew was already trying to get ahead of the game from the ground.
Gus Fring is looking to complete his LA civic duty on time
I believe that the pitchers will be able to go to the bullpen from the bottom instead of the field level.
My guess is upgraded batting and weight room facilities is what is going in these new underground structures and where the current ones are will be expanded/improved clubhouse and other facilities.
You know what this means guys? It means that Dodger Stadium is here for many years to come! 💙💙💙
Making room for more trophies
Great info BB .Appreciate the update please keep us informed. ⚾️
That looks like an area for the fan experience
Bar, sofas, tvs…
They are building new state of the art club houses, training facilities, offices for managers and medical personal. This will all be under ground and will not alter the playing field or prior seating arrangements for season ticket holders.
If you know what was there before you'd understand how small it was for them, they had a cool weight room but was cramped and a batting cage, they had a tiny team laundry room but was small, they had a private team kitchen but was small, the locker room was recently renovated and looked cool but for champions they deserve more room and cooler updated equipment.
Great thing is... the organization agrees with you and is making that happen!
Never seen a stadium construction project get this much scrutiny from folks. **Insert Dwayne Wade "love it" meme here.**
When you build a stadium the right way the first time( the size, the sight lines, the location ), include the weather, the rest will be history…it’s literally the Notre Dame cathedral of baseball.🎉
It’s nice to build a new stadium in plce every so many years using World Series money…
3:50 The red truck is 8.5" or 102" wide, so you could use that.
This is fascinating, thanks for getting all of this info together
It would kind of help to know what they already have clubhouse wise or batting cages.
If you ever paid for the expensive seats, that is probably gonna be an extension of the dugout restaurant
Good video
Could have done all of this with Oakland
Imagine if they upgrade to a 100,000+ seat stadium
Imagine they would have to double the parking space. It's already a traffic crisis as it is now.
The apparent similarities in size between both excavation sites lead me to believe that the project might be to expand fan amenities in some way (i.e. restrooms, merchandise or food concessions, etc.).
if you put fans down there a lot of exits would be required.
I’m definitely curious to see what it’s going to look like. I wish there were renderings.
Moving the Press Bow so the Dodgers can sell MORE HIGH PRICED SEATS. Makin' Money!
they’re caving out the baseline club like how Miami and the Yankees have their seats. Both sides already have full size gyms and batting cages so it’s most likely going to be lounges
I agree there will be a high percentage of fans that will have no idea this is there. Hopefully they let us see what they did when it’s finished ✌️⚾️💙⚾️👍👍
They're building a giant vault down there.
@@thepumpkinsatire storing all the deferred money 😉
Wow wouldn’t that be something! The dodgers have gotten so big that maybe they’ve gone full Illuminati 😂
Got to keep that deffered money somewhre
I wonder if a major renovation like this will happen at Wrigley Field sooner than later
I am thinking a lot of this will be a new luxury area for those field box seats. I did hear they were going to change those up.
Yes, it is interesting. Fortunately, teh construction only needs to complete the roof and then replace the playing surface. The internal portions of the structure can be completed later. In fact, I'd assume that is the case.
Those are post tentioning cables
It's new clubhouses 4 the players, also it's 2 stories, Dodgers side will be done 4 the start of this season, supposedly... visitors side will be finished & ready 4 the 2026 season... Forgot where I found the information but it's out there if u wanna find out... If u get a peak with construction workers in the pits, they look tiny, those pits are huge!!!!!
I've searched hard and found literally zero official from the team on this
Let me try & find where I saw that info, it'll take a hot minute but I'll try...

I love it when someone give an update when they don’t know what their talking about
*they're
Knowing the Dodgers with their esteemed heritage can guarantee every inch of that interior will will be decorated in Dodgers class. For a first rate organization they must keep a good public image for the fans.
Thanks for the update. Still surreal that this would be massive PR boost for Dodgers yet theu barely announce anything.
Look at the stairwell, its two stories... there are stairs on both sides of the trench, the one closest to the dugout is def two stories.
They are building a subterranean racetrack and Casino for Ohtani.
How does the prices of 100M get out but not what it’s for?
when a building permit is obtained a valuation is stated, the plans may not be public record.
Let’s see how it Turns Out. Should be Interesting
This probably isn't part of his recruitment, but this will be one of the main reasons why Roki could pick the Dodgers due to this huge investment in the team's clubhouse. I see why the Dodgers been quiet about this project as Roki want his meetings to be private as well.
I wish you did this for rogers centre the past few years
What is it going to do for bounces when the ball hits that refill and roof.
Its a new club house, player amenities and facilities. There is no way they drop $100 Mill on a batting cage.
Dodgers are doing everything right !
I wonder if those are going to be field level suites
Didn't they barely finish a big renvoation project about a year or so ago?
few years back, yes they did
I think it may also be part of new premium seating.
Brodie -
Happy New Year, and congratulations on your new Sharks gig. Fantastic for hockey.
I still think this channel is a breath of fresh air, and I only hope you can continue to provide your insights exactly the way you’ve been doing. One thing, too: I love - and I hope many people would agree - hearing of your thoughts on stadiums, arenas, progress, updates, designs, etc. - especially how they relate to the community, the region, the sport. As an outsider to California - I’m here in Toronto - I still find it absolutely interesting in hearing your take on things. It’s highly transferable and very easy to want to stay in the know through you, and your voice. Thank you!
Hope to have you come up to Canada to do your hockey thing, among others. I know Canadians would love your voice. Particularly since it’s amazing to hear of the passion coming from a non-Canadian on hockey. 🥅🏒😎
Now, if only McCourt would invest in the parking lot, people wouldn't feel so ripped off when they pay $50 for general.
