Mike Awesome was so underrated. Could wrestle the big man style but then pull off high flying moves most guys his size can't. It's a shame after ECW, WCW ruined him and then WWE never gave him an opportunity. Because he was a guy I always felt like with the right gimmick could've been a huge star in any company.

    January 21, 2000 ~ ECW on TNN
Awesome called you out and you answered. Then Sabu interrupted before we got what we all wanted. I know it was a set up for Living Dangerously but then you got hurt and Awesome fled for WCW! I still think about that night sometimes because of just how close we really got to possibly the greatest ECW feud of all time!

I was looking forward to that match SO DAMN MUCH too ! As an ECW fan since 94 and all the big moments and matches that took place , this was gonna be that type of mega match for the modern ECW era . Like Sabu vs Taz was for example . If you know the story you will see the reason I used those two as an example . For numerous reasons , injuries , icon status , anticipation and plus you just knew those two would bring it in Dream Match !!! Same as RVD and Mike Awesome would . Just imagining the spots and storytelling they would do kills me it never got happen .

Really saddens me that Rob quickly went to such a dark place when asked on the spot about Mike Awesome. Not sure if James reads these comments but it would be really nice to see some more positive reflections from guys who worked with Mike, I'm sure RVD could come out with some fond memories if given a little more time to think about it.

It was going to happen but RVD broke his ankle against Rhino in Florida January 29, 2000
, it was going to be RVD and Spike vs Awesome and Sabu in a tag match at Living Dangerously 2000 first but Sabu quit and RVD got hurt so they had RVD give up the tv title right before the ppv on TNN, Super Crazy wins the tv title on the ppv in the tournament vs Rhino.
Awesome then won the tag titles with Raven from Tanaka and Dreamer on tv the week tape delay of the ppv then Awesome wrestled twice on the ppv defending the ECW world title against Kid Kash then defending the tag titles in a 3 way dance vs Credible & Storm and Dreamer and Tanaka and Credible & Storm winning them.
Then of course Awesome loses the ECW title on TAZ on April 13th after signing with WCW, so it went from on January 28th 2000 hyping up RVD vs Awesome for ppv to RVD is hurt on Jan 29th and Awesome is gone by April 6th and dropping the title on April 13th.

He was the best. Breaks my heart Paul Herman was such a scumbag he didn’t pay the guy forcing him to go to WCW and the insecure babies that were booking (Nash) was so scared he’d get over them they booked him as comedy. You get a 6’8 Beast that can moonsault like a cruiser weight and you make him the 70’s guy and the fat chick guy? Easily could’ve been booked as a monster heel or kick ass baby face that barely ever loses but no. You make him the chubby chaser?

This guy has great interviewees but he never knows shit about wrestling history. The match didn't happen because RVD broke his ankle not because Awesome went to WCW. That was months later

WCW ruined his career. Wish he had gone to the WWF instead of WCW.

WWF didn't treat him any better

Probably because he chose WCW over WWF and any wrestler who did that had a bad run in the WWF when they went there later. @@user-kg6tp9js9p

Triple H is and was the biggest cancer in Pro wrestling, buried many better wrestlers than himself and is responsible for the WWE product being completely unwatchable.

I’d say I didn’t even know what hardcore wrestling truly was until ONS ‘05 and Mike stole that entire show…that match hasn’t been touched since for me
