Some days ago I found your channel, your job is fantastic, your explanation is very clean to understand, i will follow your channel.

Thanks a lot!
Hi Kristof,
That is a really impressive tuner, from a time when high end audio was the province of the rich.
I wonder if you can get a matching amp and speakers. If not I’m sure you can find a suitable tube amp to play it through.
I think Philips learned from their earlier mistakes as the later ones are much easier to work on. Their early (1940’s) radios were a bit of a nightmare.
I’m really looking forward to the rest of this series.
Cheers!
Thanks!
Well... I would say... "stay tuned!" 😉
I have this one and still working ..and yes its a tuner with fm ..mw..lw.and shortwave bands and yes it is mono but
It is hi fi on fm.
At 32:55, I'd recommend a *Silicon Grease.*
I think you're a bit off on the cost calculations,. Comparing the original 500 DM price with Euros is tough, since they don't overlap historically. But, 500DM was worth about $118 US in 1958. $118 USD in 1958 is worth a bit less than $1,300 US in 2022 dollars or close to $1200 in 2022 Euros. Still very expensive, but not quite as eye-popping.
You are right. However, I corrected first for inflation, and then converted to euros. But I made the mistake of using a USD inflation calculator to do this.
I now did the calculation again, using a DM inflation calculator ( www.lawyerdb.de/Inflationrate.aspx ). Then 499 DM in 1958 gives me an equivalent amount of 2560 DM in 2022. Converting that amount to euro gives me 1309 euros, so more in line with your calculation. Thanks for noticing and letting me know!
