To Whom It May Wax Nostalgic:
Recently I rediscovered an old audio cassette in my desk drawer. Turns out it was a recording of the Albany R-III Schools Class of 1986 graduation ceremony of which I was a member. I taped it off of KAAN radio when they rebroadcast the event a few days after the ceremony 38 years ago. I wanted to preserve the event for my future self by digitizing the audio as best I could into a modern-day medium which in this case is an MP3 format and finally uploaded to UA-cam as an MP4
I used a simple audio recorder from back in the day which means that one can also hear other things going on in my household such as Mom and Dad talking, dogs barking, parakeets singing, phones ringing, and other daily noises. Not included in this cut are Mom and Dad having a funny moment talking to each other which nearly brought me to tears.
The quality is very poor but anyone over the age of 50 knows that audio cassettes oftentimes do strange things including degrading over time, breaking, getting twisted up in the player, etc. I did my best to preserve this event by taping together the breaks with real tape. I know that some parts were lost. The guest speaker's part was impossible to understand as he apparently stepped away from the microphone throughout most of his speech. I edited some of that out.
I recognize Fielding Wilson's and Larry Price's voices but I can't place many of the other officials.
PS: That's the real band playing the music. I didn't add it in later.
