That black gar was really cool looking! We don't have gator gar here in NC, but we do have a lot of spotted & short nose gar in one stretch of river that I fish. You should try using a size 12 or 15 Panther Martin spinner on those gar. They're made for steelhead / pike / musky and are probably a lot cheaper than that Medusa lure that got torn up. Plus they cast really far, too.
Can you fish from shore by the spill way? In Michigan you can fish all the way up too the spill way pond you can fish the small fall and the rest of the river.
I love your videos, bro when I come back to Texas, I will pay you to take me to that spillway where when it floods you cast up in that spillway and catch all the Crappie and bass. I went down there last year and couldn’t find it. I don’t care what it cost me and my 15-year-old son are coming down in the next month or so.

Do you know how much that GAR would be worth if you could bring it in keep it alive and sell it I've seen calico looking cars I've seen white but I've never seen a black one not in captivity there might be one out there but I've never seen it yeah something like that man that's something that you could wish you could get catch and keep alive as a jet black gar they're more rare than a white one at least you have video proof that you caught or hooked into an all-black gar that was a beautiful fish

They are a predatory fish. And can be taken with many movement lures.

From my experiences musky, pike, and oddly enough gar are the only fish that will hit giant lures.
