I'm glad I'm not the only one that remembers Neocron. I played the beta (which was an actual, free, open beta that lasted a few weeks/months) back then when I was still in high school and later bought the game after it released. It was my first MMO, before I even knew what an MMO was really, and gave me some strong memories. Like being in a crowded AF sewer with a bunch of other new players killing rats, desperately trying to earn money, making shitloads of drugs and finally making tons of cash and betting it in the stock market in-game. The funny thing is that I ended up with an engineer/spy main and making tons of drugs... because the Private Eye class basically could do anything so long as they just shoved a bunch of narcotics into their bloodstream and later crash and be worthless for 15 minutes afterwards (such a terrible class, but it was the one with the most options). So I was a smack dealer that also dabbled in weapon manufacturing. I still remember constantly trying to just run across the desert to finally get to the technological mecca of the (appropriately named) Techhaven and dying to horrific monstrosities multitudes my own level... The game also had some damn good lore about the nuclear war, the aftermath and rebuilding (basically the thing that Neocron to come about was an experimental datacube of human knowledge that survived the war and was found by the tribal/savage barbarians) and off-world colonies. Pretty damn good game for its time.
Same here. I too have fond memories of the game. Hanging out in the Onorata being one of them. Heck, i even ran it for a while after Drunken, Pepper, and Leon effectively disappeared.
I love it everytime I discover a game I have never seen before. I love being introduced to the lesser known but great finds of older ages. I like digging in gold mines, even if its only a few nuggets and a mostly iron.

I never heard of this game, though I am a long time gamer and follow tons of channels about video games. ( I am 49 years old and began with a Colleco Vision console and a Commodore 64 pc, but I did miss the "golden age" of MMOs to focus on my studies.)
@@sigmacademy Amiga ! You had a real PC ! I regret not having saved for an Amiga back then: I did not realize how much better it was (visual/audio) then the Commodore 64. My friend back then had one (or rather his family had one), but I could not touch it, for fear I would screw it up (with reason: I could have).
This game was a big part of my youth. I still roam the Cron from time to time. I miss the times where it was packed with players, it was such an immersive roleplaying experience. You had gang wars, police interrogating you, merchants trying to scam you and terrorists planting bombs within the city.
I can confirm the German shitting tables. They were a staple of German culture throughout the 70's and 80's and a constant reminder about the phrase "don't shit where you eat".

'That sound....it's in my head....it's in my head!'
Absolute class.
Bought back some fond memories.
This is one of those "concepts we will never see attempted again" video games. Frown. Good video though as always.
I think Cyberpunk 2077 wanted to be this game
Professor tosspot still as awesome as ever, hope you're holding up okay. A very old friend.
As someone who grew up in the 90's/early 00's that dial up tone noise gave me a Vietnam style PTSD flashback please don't use it again Professor.
Awesome, I played Neocron when it was out in beta, it was my first taste of an MMO. I can't believe you can still play it today!
I never heard of this game, though I am a long time gamer and follow tons of channels about video games.
( I am 49 years old and began with a Colleco Vision console and a Commodore 64 pc, but I did miss the "golden age" of MMOs to focus on my studies.)
C64 was a beast. Respect.
I'm old enough to remember the Atari (old school), Spectrum, DOS and Amiga (old school) games. I wish they could bring ALL of those back again. :/
Can't wait for the year review. Love your stuff. Always happy to see new content, Professor.
Great to see you back
I never left. Did a video 3 weeks back =p
@@VoxisProductions lol sorry champ, you can't blame me :)
This game was a big part of my youth. I still roam the Cron from time to time. I miss the times where it was packed with players, it was such an immersive roleplaying experience. You had gang wars, police interrogating you, merchants trying to scam you and terrorists planting bombs within the city.
Apparently the player count has gone up and there is a big patch this weekend. I guess Neocron is a Necron.
@@VoxisProductions Cheers for that mate. Although I doubt many people will stay, I'm still pleased to see the player count rising above 30 :D
Perfect troll move. 5/5 stars lol. I expected a 2077 smackdown and got a reminder of games that were actually GOOD.
Although buggy, Neocron is a game that I would indeed call "good", depite its ancient graphics.
GOOD TO SEE YOU AGAIN!!!! 🌄👏
I can confirm the German shitting tables. They were a staple of German culture throughout the 70's and 80's and a constant reminder about the phrase "don't shit where you eat".
So that’s where the phrase comes from
I used one - when it was not otherwise in use - to do my homework. Takes a bit of getting used to.
Your channel deserves at least a million more subs...thanks for the laughs, sir!
I always thought Professor Tosspot was more of a BBC Micro type.
Great video yet again Professor
3:43 A pump action double barrel?
The Moe Syzlak Special?
"Say some gangstah is dissing your fly girl, just give him one of these!"
Always more interesting to see someone comment on a relatively unknown but interesting game, rather than pile onto the band wagon of something that dozens of people are already reviewing. Unless it's a "so bad it's good" kind of review, which in that case the more the merrier.
Keep up the great work Voxis. Love your content.
Thanks Joe.
It makes me happy that you decided to show a first born space marine. If you showed a primaris, you are not the old puppet you act as 🤣
Is there a difference? I'm more into Warhammer Fantasy and Age of Sigmar.
@@michaelknox3715 depends on who you ask, but professor here it's always for nostalgia and good old themes so it fits him to show a first born
