Started my Marx collection in 1946. I was 10 and my Mother bought me a Marx Diesel set from Hearns N.Y.C. Still have it along with a 1947 Marx Freight set with double wheel bogies and engine with stainless steel cow catcher. Everything still runs including my larger Marx engines and rolling stock. Have a modest layout--two systems powered by a Lionel ZW. (also have my original Marx dstransformer and a JC Gilbert transformer that runs Marx and Lionel). Havw had lots of fun repairing and running, but at 87 my little friends will have to find a good home. Chuck Ingraham
I like the display, the audio the trains rule 1 they must run, my experience with Marx, the rare Marx is the one that don't run. You can't kill them the energizer bunny of toy trains.
Great collection! I too enjoy taking a beat up Marx loco and bringing it back to life..Would you have any pictures of your layout before the landscaping? Yours is one of the most interesting we've seen..
very cool collection, i have only been collecting for aout 2 years now, after my dad passed in 2020 i got several of his mixed marx And lionel, and i fell for the marx, so been collections numerous ones myself. i really like the tinplate diesels as well, and my favs are the plastic switchers, have all but 3, the rarest of the ones, lol. nice that your all run, a must for me too. very cool, keep up the good work.

I didn't know the closed spoke was the rarest. I thought it was the open spoke. I am still hoping to find an open spoke. Thanks.
The closed spoke “embossed” version was only produced one year, 1946 I believe.
