- Gabby Williams has her introductory press conference went the Seattle Storm and she had a whole lot to say…
Whats up awesome people of the internet. Gabby Williams is back for a 3rd season with the Seattle Storm after signing a rest of the season contract with the team on August 20.
In her first season with the team in 2022 she started all 36 games and averaging 7.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 1.5 steals per game while connecting on a career-best 44.4% from the field. She also made the all derisive second team and because of her ability to lock down players and defend all positions. After that season she was a free agent
In 2023 Gabby signed a rest of the season contact with the star on July 3rd, the reason for her missing the first half of that season was because she had an injury. In 10 games she 8.4 points, 3.8 assists, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.5 steals.

She's 100 percent right
It’s important to be open to listening to feedback. She’s a valuable player and I am glad she chose to return to the WNBA. The quality of all of the franchise teams makes all of the games better.
@@monicamichael4633 She's here for a handful of games at the end of the season. If the bean counters continue to push prioritization, she may not come back. We may miss out on a bunch of non-American talent.
So happy Gabby is back........Also what happened in the Chicago sky locker room during the press conference last night. It sounded like players were arguing and throwing things. Anyways thanks for all you do Quita.
I’m not sure what actually happened so I’m waiting to see if real reporting comes out about what happened. When I hear something I’ll make a video explaining it
Quita waiting for your reporting if anything comes forth. This is sad for the Sky. But as a fan, I kind of saw something brewing with the teammates. I have some ideas of what the Sky front office could add to the coaching staff to help the players not just physically but emotionally and mentally as well as really pouring into the team overall. Players who have left keep saying the same thing, basically.
Yeah I saw that UA-cam video about it with video. Embarrassing
Yeah, the Sky seem to be falling apart mentally. They need a veteran leader in that locker room.
no argument there. she is absolutely right.
Until the WNBA can have minimum salaries that accurately values the skill/talent and worth of the players, I'm with Gabby. You can't offer an elite player 80k per year and expect them not to want to make 3 times that overseas in less than half the time.
It's ultimately about views and money coming in!!! Before this year wnba was not in majority of people's redars!!!
Now that the league secured some money, they need to just double if not triple everyone's contracts.
Ms. Williams is correct.
Can’t wait to see her play with the Storm
Go Gabby, go Storm, go UCONN!
It's important to understand what players are looking for in joining an organization. The right connection with ownership, staff, coaching, player development, and teammates. Seattle has the facilities and climate to get the best players to consider them. It's awesome for her. Angel and Kamilla need to pay attention.
Milla needs to be traded. Trade her the their first rd pick & the first rd pick they picked up last month for a pg in the draft
I understand why the rule had to be placed. Teams were left hanging by players not being there and had to keep players, then let them go when overseas player shows up. Can’t build chemistry with the players either. I think some fans take it for granted how the dynamics of a team works.
Agreed
The biggest problem with this rule is that it prevents players to participate to European or other international Championships with their national team. I've never seen this elsewhere to suspend a player because he plays for his international team, except in the WNBA, and this year, where Spanish football teams banished French players from participating to Olympics..
It's absolutely insane and disrespectful..
And that was the reason of the problems Gabby had in Chicago, and her suspension concerned her absence to training camps in addition..
@@MimieThalie but I don’t believe you are correct. Players can leave to play for their country in important tournaments. But players can’t show up late for the season. There are only two tournaments to consider: Eurobasket and the Olympics which the W seems to be fine with
@@QuitaLovesSports If the WNBA wants players to be all in, the salaries have to match that level of commitment.
@@Tarheelheat almost all of the players are all in, they figured out how to make it work and are back in time. Because many foreign leagues changed their schedules to accommodate the WNBA. The rule now only really affects a select number of players like Gabby, Emma Messeman and MJ formally with the Liberty. In my opinion that’s not enough effected players to make sense to change the rules
Too bad we not seeing her play this weekend 😢
Storm understands the player and cares for the player.
Hopefully with the new CBA they can ensure there are some changes with prioritization and salaries, also a minimum requirement on facilities
Well Done Gabby willams 😊
I have one of those shirts! Gotta love the Gospel run!
At the end of the day, players have to make decisions based on money. A player of Gabby Williams caliber makes more money overseas versus playing in the WNBA. I understand why the league would want to keep their players on their teams for the whole season, but the overwhelming majority of WNBA players make more money overseas There are very few players like a
Aja Wilson, Skylar Diggins Smith, Cailin Clark and Angel Reese that make more money off the court than on. The WNBA is forcing players to make decisions that impact their ability to make money, especially, players with elite talent. Those players who make more money overseas will continue to so. Until league salaries improve to the point that they won't have to play out of the country. It's unfair to legislate how elite players make their money.
That's true. If they are forcing players to choose, they need to match their over seas salary and make it worthwhile.
I really don't understand how the W thinks the prestige of a roster spot in their league trumps the 6 figures female players can make overseas. They're asking these women to give up their most productive years to play for what their male counterparts spend on dinner parties or weekend vacations. In the words of @philharmonik, "f*** you, pay me. "
Bright, articulate woman.
Seattle is the best fit. I hope she stays for the rest of career.
WNBA no longer uses Spaulding
If the W-ENVY-A wants players to only play for them and be on time, then they should equalize the salary! Pay them what they are earning overseas! Then they will, in practice, prioritize W-ENVY-A over other leagues! Simple.
@@espinosalexis How do you do that when your league already loses money every year and has done so since it's inception?
Naphissa (?) Smith of the Indiana Fever just signed to play in China for a million dollars...and eighty thousand is what the Fever pay her. She has a right to come back late for that kind of money IMHO, right?
NaLyssa? Wow, I don't think many would turn that bag down.
Why the IMHO part you really didn't need that there 🙄

Business is Business and owners have responsibility, especially for profits. Of course Gabby is thinking for her benefit, but not realistic for business.
And they are petty haters. Clark will bring eyes and fill seats. Nobody new cares about anyone but Clark. In watching games the other players will become known. Unfortunately they are becoming know for their racist petty jealous actions. Stupid. They want a percentage of what ? A 10 million Loss?
@@EmilioGonzalez-vn3wf what even is this statement?
@@square-deal2375 was I not clear? Let me try again. I only watch WNBA. I’m actually not an avid sports fan of any sport. I clicked on a UA-cam highlight of Carter. I loved it. I watch WNBA because of her. Just like her. So in researching WNBA I realized that the players don’t make much money. Bill Burr has en excellent comedy skit on that. That woman do not support WNBA. Anyway, they want a percentage like the men get. The problem is the NBA Covers the 10million dollar loss. They never made a profit. They are a league because of the NBA. Gabby goes overseas to make money. So my point. Enter Caitlin Clark. She fills seats. She gets views. She is exciting to watch. Instead of using her to create excitement and more eyes on the WNBA. They hate hate on her with obvious racism, heterosexual phobia, and petty”what about me” attitude. Her exclusion from the Olympic team was a marketing failure. She was instrumental in charter flights for all teams, and on her back a 300 million Tv deal was made. Her merchandise sells out instantly and others cry. So they bitch about not getting paid for a product people don’t care for. Then WNBA , players , and even her own shows are disrespectful. So F em. Instead of allowing Caitlin to shine, even create a healthy rivalry where my eyes will then see other players and they now get positive attention, I don’t give a shit about any of them. So my point WNBA and players don’t deserve crap. It’s one thing to say “ Caitlin is an amazing player, but she is not getting my me I’ll stop her “ then to attack her. I hope i made myself clear. She is a game changer. She is different.
@@EmilioGonzalez-vn3wf what are you even talking about?
@@square-deal2375 I know right. I mean they went on some kind of rampage and it's not even making any sense. How ignorant to the sport of basketball can you be.
I mean the difference is, do they show up before the season starts, or - like today- if they aren’t several months early for the season - I see the difference.
Either they increase the salary cap and teams can pay their players good money, so they don’t go overseas, or they allow them to arrive late at training camp.
they should just be paid enough during WNBA season to not have to go overseas for monetary reasons!
GABBBYYYY 🇫🇷 #UCONN.
I think it will be a bigger issue as the WNBA salaries rise. When the salaries for the WNBA players match or pass the salaries for overseas players, the players will need to choose. There is an old saying: "You can't serve two masters."
Is she gonna make them way better?
No
She’s a great player so probably
Gabby Williams much smarter than the average baller. That's why she will be marginalized by the league.
She is almost 6" tall at officially listed at 5'11" tall. That's plenty tall for the WNBA. Concerning who's smarter then who, that's just opinions.
@@GhostofGerulaitis I agree. They do not seem to make intelligent buisness marketing decisions. But I’m a newbie. I’m In cause of Clark
@@natureredux1957 Williams understands power; most WNBA players only understand their individual paycheck. This is the distinction I'm making.
@@GhostofGerulaitisYou are a player hater. These ladies are very intelligent. They have more concrrm than a pay check
The only people always bringing up money is the fans.
The reason most American players want to play for the W is to be home (in there Country). So, they can play in front of family and friends. That doesn't mean they just focus on a paycheck.
You really need to do your research on people before opening mouth and inserting foot.
@@breeminor498 Nope.
What does it mean, in layman’s terms, “to core her”? I tried looking it up but the definitions I found were more confusing than the term.
Good question: A Core Designation contract is a one-year deal on the maximum base salary. Basically you are stuck with that team for another year regardless of if you want to leave.
@@KentuckyRick62 It seems to be the equivalent of NFL's franchise tag.
I wish they stop having Sammy at PG so she can start just spotting up and shooting.
she said it as a diss
This is one of the few times I disagree with you in a while. I think the European players have a higher status and pay vs WNBA. It will be interesting to see what the first year players decide to do . Gabby has the best of both worlds but more wear and tear on her body. Older players can usually play in Europe longer. I also think the team rosters in WNBA should be increased which means less disruption at start of season for European players. TV viewers want to see the best female players in the world on the court. WNBA could be on the world stage vs just USA
Lets see how much the W posts her on SM
Ha ha Gabby was already planning to go to Seattle
She sure was, I think she really fits with that team
I’m gonna be so honest….Chicago Sky is not making playoffs and it’s gonna be a miracle if they do. For the rookies Kamilla and Angel, I hope they both request to be traded to some of the better teams: Suns, Mercury, Aces, hell even the Fever despite the whole “Angel vs Caitlin” battle. While there was that sense of “family” with the Sky in the beginning, there’s definitely issues that need to be resolved. Idk what their coach T Spoon is doing but clearly she’s not doing the best job. It’s even more embarrassing that the first draft picks always go to the worst teams, yet….the Sky was like the 8th or 9th team to pick for the rookies, making them one of the “better” teams and they haven’t been having the best season. I think the right thing is for Gabby, Angel, and Kamilla to request a trade and soon because it’s not fair to Kamilla that she’s one of the best athletes on that team yet barely gets playing time, Gabby’s back but is coming into a damn girl fight, and Angel though she’s now the queen of double-doubles….she’s having to basically do everything herself, and she’s not able to improve on what she needs to improve on which could ruin her ROTY chances. I truly think that all 3 of them should go to a new team, but Angel and Kamilla should stick together and go to the same team.
Angel is the franchise player for The Sky. She and Cardosa are the future. This Sky team is basically a big tryout team. Most of them won’t be here next season. Most of them weren’t there last season. No one expected them to do anything. They were projected to be dumpster trash. The Sky is building a brand new facility; they got a new GM, new coach-headed in the right direction.
Congratulations Gabby. Respect what you do.
Now carry on and stop throwing shade at Chicago. Just move on and help the Storm when the championship. The Sky gonna see you in the future and buss that azz. Respectfully.
Proritization is a HOSTILE ACT. The ratioanle makes no sense in the long run. If a team is good enough, a week or two will make no difference for the entire season's chances of the playoffs. Until the WNBA pays more, let them make some money,
Just want you to know your girls on Chicago Sky it sounds like they had a fight in the locker room throwing chairs around
We have no idea if that’s what happened. All we know was that there seemed to be a lot of people loudly talking and what sounded like something hitting a wall. There’s just a lot of people making stuff and letting their imaginations run wild. I have no idea what actually happened, neither do you or the other people on UA-cam spouting lies.
Once we hear real reporting about what happened I will make a video about it

Wrong Gabby. Thomas is track, Williams is basketball.
@@byronkeith8490 owners finally going to show a profit. I expect big things in the future
Ya wow no, most these players do not deserve that much money that is insane. The league has always lost money every single season, make it make sense?
The league is on track to lose $50 million so how can they come up withore cash for players. Maybe 3 teams break even.
Oh ya it’s ridiculous that a player can come and go as they please. The league has plenty of players to pick from with the few teams they have so I’d just leave them out.
Day one or you’re gone.
Please y’all play your college ball in the US. Every one.
Go where you make your money at. Wnba can't pay them their worth and the European market can.
Mabrey and Gabby throwing shade at the Sky. Love it and it couldn't happen to a more toxic organization than the Sky.
Maybre and Gabby made choices that fit their careers that doesn't make an organization toxic no more than any work place just because it's not a fit for you. That's why it's at will employment you move on when you don't like the way you are handled. Throwing shade isn't going to do anything but show you are capable of throwing shade. If you can't just move on or give us a blow by blow name by name or do a law suit like Hambry then you just talking loud and saying nothing.
Usually those throwing stones have the most Skeletons in their own closets.
Ahhh wait till you play the Fever .. then for whatever reason you'll be playing in a big arena
God instructs us not to despise humble beginnings because he is glad to see the work. Chicago Sky didn't start with billionaire owners nor attached to the wealth and access of the Chicago Bulls valuation. The Bulls were against a WNBA team even being in the market. The Sky was financially pieced together and didn't have the capital for the fancy facilities until Wade brought an infusion of cash to position them for growth and to be able to construct a practice facility. You as a business especially a partially owned black business can only grow as far as your access to capital. We really have to give this team grace I don't know many black entrepreneurs that can walk into a bank like talking about it and leave with a 38M dollar check. Each year you can leave a team if you not under a multi- year agreement. You gone so just thank God for that. Bashing your last place of employment is never a great look. She got a lick in all over the Internet when Reese asked you to run with her. if it bothered you that much write a book at least you'd make money talking about your plantation experience.
Reese is a joke and looks like a child throwing missed layups.

They gotta do what’s best for them. The wnba here loses money. The NBA funds them. My problem is that Caitlyn Clark exposed them. The WNBA also. Instead of creating excitement and rivalry, the woman are petty, jealous and not putting Clark in the Olympics was incredibly dumb. Attacking her ect. She already got them charter flights and 300 million Tv deal. Make no mistake new fans, people do not care about other players. They watch because of Caytlin. Then in watching games the other players will be noticed. It’s a buisness that a fail. They want a percentage, but of what ? A 10 million loss. Their Idotas not taking advantage of Clark. Example “ I respect Caytlin and what she has done for the game, but I’m going to show who I am” then she got a back it up.
Fever only games I watch. If CC changes teams some day I would follow but not to over sea games. Not interested in any of thst.
What are you talking about. First of all charter flights were coming to the w before Clark. Brianna Stewart and the liberty were in talks with the league about it as well as other teams. Clark didn't expose anything apart from racist people using basketball for division and hypocrisy. The league will be just fine with Clark or without Clark.
@@kenk4269 I don’t think so. Look at how her attendance and views are significant. You know that’s like saying, I’ll make it whether I work at McDonalds, or as six figure executive.
