What a sweet and beautiful Pap. My paps were different though in that they were never destructive or overly talkative. They barked at the doorbell and when I made them bark on purpose while playing. Other than that they just played and looked cute. Best breed I've ever owned and had them both for 13 years.
For anyone how has a "dog barking at visitors" problem it's a good idea to give your dog the task of carrying a toy when they arrive. Strutting around with something in their mouth is their job when people are at the door. Especially easy to do with very trainable breeds that pick up tricks fast, like Papillions. Something fluffy like a stuffed toy or sofa cushion works well for muffling barking.
@@dorisrodriguez8721 I take my girl with me where ever they allow dogs . We also have 4 of us in our house hold and she still barks her head off. The only thing that has helped some is the threat of the water bottle . Half the time she walks around wet LOL
I don't think they are destructive per se...they like to figure things out... puzzles...or even how to take things apart. They are phenomenally smart. I love mine.
Exactly, depends more on how you teach them not to, when they're pups. My Chico didn't break any of his +15 toys, not even his favorite, which I often had to wash. He took care of them until his last day
I had a papillon for 10 years, great dog! He was not destructive though? I don't think he barked a lot after we were gone, he wasn't barking when we came back. He was an absolute sweetie. He did end up with a heart issued though;-( I love watching papillon video's since I miss him.
Yes! Mine used to bark A LOT as a pup, until I taught him how to bark on command! It literally transformed the way he used his bark. Very quiet ever since, barking only when asked hahaha...My pap was amazingly sweet as well, I feel ya...the reason why I'm watching pap-videos right now. Still miss him after 4years..
Our 8 year old Papillon is not destructive sadly she doesn't even play with toys anymore now that she's older, she does bark sometimes (mostly when excited when people visit or if hyper/too much energy that day). She's very sweet and loves learning new tricks, she is very obedient, and attentive.
Love my Papillon!!!!!! He's a stinker but such a cute stinker. He's a huge mama's boy & gets upset & starts growling low down when his dad kisses his mom. He'll get louder as the kiss goes on, lol, and we do a lot of verbals with the kiss just to aggravate him. Early in the morning my husband gets up to get ready for work & Pepper is in bed with me but not right up under me but somehow he knows when my husband is going to come kiss me by & he comes snuggles up real close & begins to growl real low. I know my husband will be back to our room in a few minutes to kiss me & sure enough he is. It has to be a certain sound he hears each morning. We think it's when my husband starts to put on his work boots he knows the sound & his routine. Also he is totally fanatical about his "binky" which is one of many small plush toys that have a squeaky in it. If he doesn't happen to have one at the minute & we say "Pepper where's your binky" and he goes crazy running around hunting his current favorite binky. We buy them at the Dollar Tree & hide them in our walk in closet shelves up high & when my husband, not me, goes into the closet to get clothes Pepper runs in & sits there looking up to see if he's getting a new binky. Yep he's ruined but we rescued him from a shelter where somebody had abused him, burned his hair off & dumped him so when I found out about him I went & got him & promised him he was safe, loved & would never be abused again. I always wanted a Papillon but couldn't afford one but my dog groomer told me about him. He even had papers but that didn't matter to me. He had been sold as a breeder but apparently didn't meet the standards for z breeder, he is a little taller than some & he changed hands several time but how he got his hair burned is a mystery. It grew back beautifully but he doesn't have as much feathering on his ears as most Papillons do but he's beautiful to me & my boy. I've had him five years now. His teeth were real rotten too & I had to have a lot of them pulled. He tends to have a lot of allergy issues too but that might be something a lot of them have. I cook his food so he doesn't eat commercial dog food.
My papillon looks almost alike to Percy, except Prince doesn't have that much hair on his ears (he is still growing and is almost 1 year) and the black circles that Percy has around both eyes my dog doesn't have that but besides all of that the color is spot on and so is the attitude 😂
Your dog is so lovely enjoy his videos just be careful with the foam inside the toys (he ripped apart) it might be toxic don't want anything to happen to him if he swallowed any, all the best :)
I know all animals are individuals... but I think major differences (like with barking) are more to do with the differences in owners than in the dogs. Kind of like the difference in the behavior of a toddler at grandma's house or at home. Own up to it people.
My Chester was destructive until he reached about 1 year old. He destroyed my computer printer by chewing the cord (wasn't plugged in thank goodness). Then he chewed the cord to a not in use portable refrigerator, my husbands reading lamp cord, shoes, toys, too many rolls of toilet paper to count and who know's what else. He's 2 now and has outgrown the chewing stage, thank God!
Sibelle And Friends yeah when I leave my papillon alone so I can go to like a party, school, or just leaving for the store or a vacation, my papillon will start to wine, cry and back at first but when you come back usually what I do is sneak at him, like maybe I want to see where he is if my brother took him downstairs so he will have company or sometime I'll find him quite and sleeping in his doggie bed, I don't think you'll have to worry about yours just as long as someone is there for his company, papillon breed do need lots of attention
Destructive? Nah...just smart and curious about what's inside that toy and what the toy looks like with it's insides strewn about the room. It's an art form.
Emily and her random stuff don't worry as long as you socialize them and teach him that if he is quite he will listen trust me my papillon was the same

Maria Proctor and sometimes just try to socialize with people and dogs more so braking won't be a problem as much as it was 😊
I love that idea! Where we’re you 6 years ago haha. I wonder if it will work on my girl now that she’s more mature and set in her naughty ways.

Luv Percy. My yoda looks and acts just like him.

Diana Squicciarini Totally agree! Our Pip is just the same. :)
Absolutely. My mom's papillon loved to tear her toys apart, but that is because she always wanted to take the squeaky part out!

Hey! What’s your opinion about male/female Papillons? How are they different personality-wise?

My pappy is not destructive unless he's trying to get food...he's never been very active or "talkative" either, but he is smart and cuddly!

Please someone answer: will papillons hurt small animals? I have guinea pigs and I want a dog.
My papillon has tummy issues :c but I love him to death! He loves taking walks around our neighborhood and barking hello and everyone!
Just wondering do you ever leave Percy alone if so does he bark a lot 😁 because I'm getting one and my mum and I are away for 6 hours
Percy does bark when he is left alone, but after awhile he will stop. Also not all Papillons are the same so yours might be fine alone.

Oh hey...that's brilliant, and super cute! Gonna do that when I get my puppies.
Why there are no videos anymore? :(
Do they shed a lot?
Papillons are very light shedders.
My older pap is a major barker, and LOUD then you hardly ever hear anything out of my 2 year old.

Can you teach papillions to not bark a lot soecialy when they alone?
@why am i still here ? just praise when quiet and ignore when they bark.

I own one and she has heart problems:C
Kelly Workman I'm sorry to hear that 😢.
Kelly Workman what type of heart problems? I just found out mine has a murmur
@@cassandragarrett7635 Exactly. Mine died of a severe murmur. He would faint if he ran fast which was sad because he loved to run when he was healthy.
