King's Lynn, the terminus of the Fen Line, was restored to British Railways totems (the hot dog shape) and looks very attractive. As for the Network South East restoration of Downham market, it looks great and a reminder of a far better railway than the current travesty.
The amount of times I've walked past the tiling at Clapham and Willesden Junction and I've never taken a minute to think and realise that it's NSE branding. I guess that makes me a typical commuter who walks past interesting detail; I'll definitely be keeping a closer eye out in future
Great video as always cheers for using some of my pics etc. The bench one was at Ealing broadway on the central district line platforms. Thanks for uploading
I live on the West Coastway and what's interesting about the sign at Lancing is that on the other side of the building that sign is attached to, is actually a blue BR sign for Lancing as well!
Interesting to see such a restoration at a still used station. Makes me think about other previously operating companies and what modern stations would look like in their colours. Imagine an LNER design on a modern station! That would look really weird I bet. Well filmed and narrated as always!
Thanks! I only discovered when researching for the edit that King's Lynn at the end of the line was recently renovated into 1950s BR Eastern region colours. So The Fen Line is turning into it's own episode of Back To The Future! Will have to pay it a visit at some point
Calling All Stations All they need to do now is turn Watlington into a 1970s BR Blue era Station and it would be a perfect station by station step back in time.
I did wonder what happened to Network South East. My Grandparents did talk about getting a Network South East Railcard in the 90's since you could travel to Exeter on it. This video made me look it up. I can see we lost this due to privatisation of the railway.
I live here my dad just took over the cafe ( owner of charmed Interiors and more shops like Spalding) I live in Downham. I’m proud my dad took over to make a new cafe cause everybody needed it.
Funny you show that sign at Acton mainline, GWR is one of yhe slowest operators to keep the brand up to date, there are still loads and loads of signs that say first great western on them
I like to think that Downham Market is how an NSE station would look in the modern day if BR had never been privatised. On a Railtour a couple of years ago I noticed that Harwich International still had some NSE stuff. The clock and benches were now blue, but the Permit To Travel machine was still working.
I think there might be a similar NSE signal box sign (similar to the one at Downham Market) at Chelmsford station, but it still has the NSE branding uncovered. I think it is on the back of signal box which means that you can only see it if you look up when you are in the taxi rank.
Back to the Future to the 80s and 90s, its just amazing that everything at Downham Market station is back in Network Southeast livery, the only thing that's not right is the Class 365 in Great Northern Franchise livery at Downham Market . The Class 365 came when Network Southeast was still in business so just that problem and then everything is Just back the way it was. Bring Back British Rail and Sectorisation of British rail & Network Southeast
couldn't be done as the entrance doors to the train would have to be all one colour to fit in with this accessability regulation you've only got to look at the mess they've made of restoring the southern class 313 back into BR Bluegrey livery excluding the BR arrows to!! hopefully they'll fix this if it ever makes it to the NRM.
Looks very nice, but I wont forget when those lamp posts were left unpainted for such a long time, they looked horrible after sun damage as you said, because they should of been repainted more often. I loved the clocks but they didnt always tell the time correctly and were certainly not reliable when the clocks went forward or back. Certainly was very colouful with red unlike todays latest rail liveries which just feature grey or white. Take the beautiful colours of stagecoach on the former South West Trains that has now gone. It certainly suits the class 707s
it's a pity they've not done the ticket machines. these are still in previous operator First's colours. up the line at King's Lynn, where there's been a 50s British Rail makeover, the machines have been included- looking very fetching in smart black.
shame they can't bring it back much more pride back then and amazing to think it only lasted a mere 10 years when we're more than 20 years into this rotten privatization with everything looking so naff compared to how corporate everything looked back then with the intercity sector alongside aswell.

Wow! RESTORED to the NSE livery...now that is something new! It does look really distinctive - looks like a time warp to the 1980s!

Morgate is the same for Herts traibs
Great video as always cheers for using some of my pics etc. The bench one was at Ealing broadway on the central district line platforms. Thanks for uploading
Ah thanks! It was amongst other photos from the Northern City line so I took a wild stab in the dark!
My local has all the mainline memories NSE, ONE, First Great Eastern, NXEA and old GA
Really good video .remember the livery on class 50. Happy memories
They have STILL got some old GER benches! whcich are looking great newly painted.

The road bridge at Reading West is still in faded NSE colors. I still love seeing it now.
I did wonder what happened to Network South East. My Grandparents did talk about getting a Network South East Railcard in the 90's since you could travel to Exeter on it. This video made me look it up. I can see we lost this due to privatisation of the railway.
Oh, I remember Network South East. Late, Colourful but the last strings of BR.
That's excellent; they've *really* made an effort with the NSE-themed refurb. And fair play to the station staff for letting you film.
She was a bit perplexed as to why we were so interested in this sleepy village station. Told her to expect more of our ilk! :)
I live here my dad just took over the cafe ( owner of charmed Interiors and more shops like Spalding) I live in Downham. I’m proud my dad took over to make a new cafe cause everybody needed it.

If you're ever passing by grab a snap and send it in :)
Calling All Stations I live in Chelmsford I take a snap for u

There are also NSE stop cars at Chafford Hundred.
To be fair the NSE signage at Lancing is only on the Signal Box (off the platform). NSE signage is still on Lewes Signal Box.
The next station down the line watlington had a old nse sign in the signal box with the stations old name magdalen road
There's NSE at Portsmouth Harbour On The SWR Platforms.
I know that 465189 (a southeastern commuter train) still has a NSE logo!
it does!
I saw on old sign in tonbridge today it was on a building going into a siding.
Looks very nice, but I wont forget when those lamp posts were left unpainted for such a long time, they looked horrible after sun damage as you said, because they should of been repainted more often.

I really like the station
You forgot to go to Newhaven Marine which has a signal box with a sign on it
It is now abandoned so change at Newhaven Harbour
At Wallington station in Surrey the lamp post are still the nse red
it's a pity they've not done the ticket machines. these are still in previous operator First's colours. up the line at King's Lynn, where there's been a 50s British Rail makeover, the machines have been included- looking very fetching in smart black.
I'm happy to say that they are now in NSE red! I use the machine a few times a week to go up to watlington!
I found out today that there's still a Red Star sign somewhere on the outside of Brighton station. You can see it on the Red Star Wikipedia page
If you want to see a NSE time capsule, go on the Northern City Line from Drayton Park to Moorgate. Wall to wall NSE insignia and motifs
The main sign at sandy station still has NSE logos on it
Amersham had NSE branding because Chiltern Railways was also NSE before privatisation
If only there were still trains in NSE livery :(
bedford has nse signs and clocks etc

2:30 That's "...haven't skimped in their efforts...".
"...haven't scrimped..." is a malapropism.
Only thing is the lamposts would of just been plain red and not those white stripes on them. But that's health and safety for you
what's the reasoning there, so you don't accidentally bump in.... low light??
Woah😊
Erm south east is kent not east anglia
Oi! I live there
I wish the railways were not privatised.
This is the only english commuter train company not to use those stupid buses on wheels
I think you are confusing South East with Southern
