Phi Ta Khon - the "Ghost Festival" of Dan Sai, Thailand

Every year, around late June, the town of Dan Sai, in Loei province, Thailand holds a festival called "Phi Ta Khon", often called the Ghost Festival in English. It commemorates a story of the early life of Buddha, mixed in with some animist spirits and fertility rites to mark the start of the wet season.
