    Hi! I'm a big fan and I watch all your tortoise vids, could you tell me or make a video of how to control your tortoise poo. I'm really sick and tired of cleaning my Russian tortoises enclosure because he keeps pooping inside, I've tried to train him but since he's so young he doesn't really understand and is super-duper shy. His name is Toby and is only 1 years old. 🐢👑

    Hello I'm thinking about building a tortoise table for my 2 year old hermans tortoise but my room is really hot in the day and really cold in the night so I'm really worried about temp control. Plz can I have some advise

    • @TheGreatPetShop
      @TheGreatPetShop  2 роки тому

      You can have a tortoise in your room with no prblem. Always make sure you provide them a basking spot and uvb lighting during the day. My advice on keeping the correct temperature is getting a thermostat, this way, the heat lamp will turn on and off when needed depending on the desired temperature.
      I hope this helps and good luck!☺

    Hey how do I stop my tortoise from trampling plants that I put in there? I was thinking of putting a bonsai tree in or a spider plant inside

    • @TheGreatPetShop
      @TheGreatPetShop  2 роки тому

      You don't XD. You could try to create a small wire fence around the plant but just make sure there are no sharp edges and the holes are small enough that the tortoise can't get it's head or feet through

    • @TheGreatPetShop
      @TheGreatPetShop  Рік тому

      Yes you can, just make sure you place them outside the enclosure so they don't get to it and it still blocks the view.

    PVC enclosures are better than tortoise tables but function differently than glass tanks. The closed chambers are now considered better than the tables. That for Hermann’s, I don’t know about more arid species.

    • @TheGreatPetShop
      @TheGreatPetShop  Рік тому

      It definitely depends on the species. Perhaps it works better for a more humid habitat species, but for arid ones it’s definitely not great.

    • @quix66hiya22
      @quix66hiya22 Рік тому

      @@TheGreatPetShop I did say Hermann’s. I’m looking at buying Egyptians, and arid species, but his breeder has his in a ventilated PVC by the same manufacturer of my Hermann’s enclosure.

  • @Darth_SurgeYo
    @Darth_SurgeYo Рік тому

    Animals will always try to escape. People have Sulcatas with acres of land and they still try to get out. I think tanks are only okay for babies and during winter time. Ultimately they should have an outdoor setup. They’re best to keep up humidity. Mine never hit the glass they try climbing it

    • @TheGreatPetShop
      @TheGreatPetShop  Рік тому

      When I say they are hitting the glass is because they are trying to climb it. If you have a solid barrier in their enclosure they won't try to "escape" and will be much more relaxed. But I agree that an outdoor enclosure is always best.

    • @TheGreatPetShop
      @TheGreatPetShop  2 роки тому

      Try to visually block the glass so that the tortoise loses interest in trying to get through it.

    my turtle as keeps on knocking on the glass. if i make a non-transparent house for my turtle, it might not be able to enjoy the views of it's surroundings !

    • @TheGreatPetShop

      They don't understand the concept of glass and therefore won't "enjoy their surroundings". I highly advise to block it's view, It will be much less stressed and will stop knocking on the glass.
