Correct- a Band of Maids. Miku (Red Rose) Band Founder/Lyrics/second Vocals/Guitar, was working in a Maid Cafe in Tokyo in May 2013, when she had the idea of forming a hard rock band wearing maid costumes- "The Gap". By July she had found Kanami- Music/Lead guitar/backing vocals, on the internet. She knew Akane- Drums, who she had used on some of her recordings. Akane knew Misa- Bass who had attended the same music school as her. After rehearsing through July, Miku decided that her voice alone was not strong enough for a rock band and recruited Saiki- Lead Vocals/Some lyrics, who was the only one who was recommended to them as she was already signed to their same agency. First show together 22 Aug 2013. For live try Domination Official Live Video or studio try Blooming Music Video. Over the next few days 100s or other recommendation will follow from others.
Glad you enjoyed this track. This band is the real deal. Top notch musicians, fantastic catalog of music, great live performers. The best rock band going, IMO.
Thousands of us got up in the middle of the night (3 a.m. this morning for me) to watch the livestream of their 10th Anniversary Tour closing concert. 3.5 hours of jaw-dropping performances, surprises, new battle gear, hilarity, and a bunch of grown-ass men getting teary-eyed at the magnificence of it all. Generally you'll be recommended to check out their live stuff (the "DICE" + "Hate?" two-fer from Lollapalooza is already legendary, altho surpassed by the Tour Final version last night), but you can't really go wrong - they have no lame songs. The only question is whether a given song is in your stylistic wheelhouse, because they cover a _lot_ of ground.
To give an idea: they played 33 songs yesterday - all bangers! but the best part: they annonced another concert early 2024 ... with a set-list of songs they didn't play yesterday - and we already know it will be as good !!!
Welcome to Band-Maid, they are generally their own genre. Closer to hard rock as a base, they are fantastic! Check out more, you won't be disappointed. They are at their 10 year anniversary with the same members, over 120 songs that are all unique and fantastic. For most songs there is a live version that is even better than the "album" version. Try the "Dice & Hate?" live from Lalapalooza 2023, it is quite fun :). Thanks for the reaction.
If you explore the depth of their catalog, you will not be disappointed. Like myself, there are many that feel they are the best rock band today, some say of all time. Just check out their most recent version of Puzzle, live. Absolutely astounding.

Band-Maid is considered one of the best hard rock bands in the world ! They shine when performing live so i would suggest "Play" Official Live or the "Blooming" MV Thanks Great Reaction✌🤘
Welcome to Band Maid, my favorite hard rock band on the planet. They call themselves the hardest rocking maids on the planet, they’re not wrong. At their core they’re a hard rock band but they mix in lots of punk, progressive, metal, blues and pop throughout their music. Many fans say they are their own genre, whatever the case may be, it’s awesome. They don’t make bad songs, but I highly recommend the 2 song video from Lollapalooza earlier this year. “Dice & Hate?” The sound is top notch even if the video directors fell asleep at points. They shine live.
Welcome to the fandom! Best rock band in the world right now! Been fortunate to see this band twice this past 2 years. Had to fly out to see 'em. So worth it! Best 2 concerts I've ever been to! I suggest these Band Maid songs: Dice, Manners, Bubble, Blooming, Puzzle (live) & No God (live)
Band-Maid had their 10th anniversary tour final last night in Yokohama Arena. The members of Lovebites were there. 3-1/2 hour concert, 33 songs. These Japanese bands all work hard and they all support each other.
What a band! I still remember where I was when I first heard them. The recommendations for the official live video for Domination is definitely the way to go. These ladies are an eclectic kick in the chest, and live, they are simply mesmerizing.
I was watching the concert through the online stream. I wish I could have been among the other 10k+ fans in front of the stage, but traveling to Japan was not in my cards this year. What a concert. Probably the best one yet. So many cool new arrangements, it was insane.
@@madsstavangI have only seen the "Choose me" video from that cover ... but the location was quite huge (too big?) and the audience quite calm. I am curious: Is that the Japanese way to enjoy a rock concert? I have seen that in other live performances, too.
I think you'll like this band. A _lot._ It was started by the rhythm guitarist and second vocalist, Miku Kobato, who writes most of the lyrics too. This is an anime closing theme so the lyrics relate to that, but she writes them so they are more universal and make sense even if you don't know the story. She tends towards encouragement and positivity. But even if you take the lyrics out of the equation, you'll find the quality of songwriting from the lead guitarist Kanami Tōno is outstanding. Look at their music video for *"from now on"* to see and hear what I mean. They speak a universal language.
Band Maid 🔥 A musician’s band of musicians. Way more varied and versatile than the traditional rock band. Hard rock fusion where metal, punk, hard rock, progressive rock and pop meet. Fan base is a lot like Rush fans. Gear-heads, music nerds, studio cats. But the Maids write songs so well, their appeal crosses genres and oceans. Here’s the song that landed on over 80% of fans’ personal top ten lists, according to a recent poll: “Moratorium,” live is always best. Band Maid consistently outperforms their studio tracks on stage. They are the best thing to happen in the rock space in a long time
I reverently refer to them as The Japanese Beatles because the are cherished worldwide by those in the know and have the most impressive catalogue of tunes of any band since... And only improve with age!
You nailed it. It's a song for an anime. And you're right, they're not metal, more like punk, metal, and pop influenced hard rock. Maybe progressive hard rock?
Watch DICE and HATE Lalapalooza 2023 and fasten your seat belt. They're my favorite live band, you just about can't go wrong live. Most people suggest the official DOMINATION live video but since it came out I lean toward Lalapalooza.
Good review. Band Maid are fantastic, the best band going, in my opinion. ”Shambles” is their most recent release and it kicks ass. I generally recommend starting from the beginning with the Maids. “Thrill” is their 1st release that got the ball rolling and is a good starting point. The official live versions of “Freedom”, “Real Existence”, “Play”, and “Domination” are all great and actually better that the studio versions. As you’ll find out, there are no weak songs, only varying degrees of musical excellence !
BAND-MAID consider themselves to be Hard Rock, but they don't stick to a specific genre. Metal is just one of their many influences, so there's something for everyone. If one song isn't exactly your cup of tea, try the next one. If you have eclectic tastes then your favorite BAND-MAID song is usually the last one you've heard. 'Shambles' is one of their Anime Theme Song commissions. This one being for the season two closer of the Netflix anime, Kengan Ashura. But they have a ten year back catalogue of songs for you to check out, everything from Metal to Soft Acoustic Ballads. Punk, Funk, Power Pop and Jazz is all in there. And, with their April Fool's Day persona, BAND-MAIKO even some more Traditional Japanese sounds. So, don't forget to check it out.
As solid and near perfect a rock band as you'll find anywhere. Check out the MV for their latest instrumental FROM NOW ON for a rock/metal/prog extravaganza. Peace. 35.2
Yes. This has an anime vibe because it is an anime song. If you want to hear something completely different - they have heaps. Some under appreciated gems like Matchless Gum, Wonderland, Mirage and Balance are probably not for everyone, exerimental and some people absolutely love those slightly weird sound. Manners, Dragon Cries have classic blues-rock vibe. You don't really understand this band until you listen to at least 10 more songs - and still it's not enough. They keep exploring different sound and challenge you, so when their new album/EP comes out, some fans are not ready for their new sound and take a while for it to grow on them. If there's a song that you can't get into after few listens, wait till they play it live - you're gonna love it. I'd say thay are rock-core fusion band, with heavy punk influence, with slight progressive edge, they often splash multiple different elements such as other rock subgenres, jazz, blues, rap, classic, hip-hop, RnB and fast reggae beat, and more. They have the incredible diversity that even a person like me who gets easily bored is kept engaged. Their creativity has no limit.
These girl just nailed it at Chicago Lollapalooza , and to me seem to steal the day and blew audience away. they are better live, good example of jamming in the middle of songs is Domination live 2020 in Tokyo'. A must see clip

@@seizetheday5008 Why Thankee Kind Sir. Here is the remainder of the file for those interested. Band Maid was started in 2013 by Miku Kobato. At the time she had just left the Idol Group, Lil Cumin and she didn't like the type of music she had been performing. She approached her management agency with the idea of making an actual band playing rock music but dressed as maids. She had worked in a Maid Cafe and thought the image of maids playing rockin music would create what she called "The Gap" between what you see and what you hear. The Management company was like Ok, go ahead. Miku then looked around and found Kanami a singer/songwriter who was posting her own videos on the internet. Miku had her agency contact her and Kanami thought the idea was cool and agreed to join. Miku then asked if Kanami knew a drummer who might be interested. Kanami had worked with Akane in the past and there is 2 versions of this, the first is, Kanami literally walked over to Akane's apartment and asked her, the second is Kanami called Akane and asked her. (Akane has said in 2 different interviews that 1: Kanami called her and asked if she could come over and 2: in a second interview Kanami just came over) Akane was actually hesitant as she had worked in an "All Girl Group" before and didn't enjoy it as it wasn't the type of music she wanted to play. After hearing a Demo, Akane was like ok, but was still slightly hesitant because of the "Maid Outfits", but she agreed to give it a try. Akane was asked if she knew a bass player and she had gone to Tokyo School of Music with MISA and had worked a couple of jobs with her. So Misa was contacted and after she heard a demo she was like I like the music, but she also was hesitant about the "Maid Outfits", but she relented and joined in as she really wanted to play the kind of music she heard in the demo. The 3 of them then "Auditioned" for the record company and passed the audition. Now we have the "Core" members. The 4 members worked out some songs provided for them by the record company, and a setlist and they had performed 3 times with just Miku on main vocals. Miku after those performances felt that her voice wasn't powerful enough to really perform the songs she wanted. So she approached her management company again and asked if they had any singers who weren't in other projects. They then auditioned several singers. Miku heard Saiki rehearsing in a room across the hall and asked if she could be auditioned, the record company then had Saiki audition. Saiki was signed to the same management company and had done some work as a backup singer and dancer and was asked if she would be interested in auditioning for this new group which currently had 4 members and she would be the fifth. She had been a member of a group with 8 other people as a backup singer and dancer, and HATED it. So she listened to the demo and thought "Cool" because she liked the music. Now we come to the tricky part. Miku KNEW that if Saiki was told about the "Maid Outfits" she would say NO WAY!, so they didn't tell her. They told her they would have "Cool/cute Clothes"(I've read it translated either way), and she never met Miku until a few days before they had a contracted performance. She wasn't told about the "Maid Outfits" until the day before the performance, and she had considered backing out, but she had signed the contract. (Saiki also had NEVER met Miku until then as well) So the Ladies, went and did the performance and Saiki really, REALLY liked the crowds reaction and the music they were performing. She DIDN'T like the apron she wore so it got ditched after the first performance. And you now have the beginnings of the BEST LIVE HARD ROCK BAND in the WORLD! ALL HAIL BAND MAID!!!!! Now that we have the Full band, it was felt that there needed to be a second guitar. Saiki was like, "Not Me, No Way." So Miku said, "I'll do it.", at first that was literally all she did, was hold the guitar and mime playing it, until Akane said, if you are going to hold it, you NEED to learn to play it. And Miku said, "Ok.", and Kanami started to teach Miku how to play. The Ladies released their first album in 2014 "Maid in Japan" which failed to chart, but later after "Thrill" it was reissued and charted to #26 in Japan.
Then in 2015 they released "New Beginning" On New Beginning was the song that changed Band Maid's entire existence. "Thrill"... The band was getting ready to release their first music video and the choice was between "Love, Passion, Matador" and "Thrill" and the ladies chose Thrill. (Little known fact, Miku helped with the lyrics on Thrill but did not get credited) This became the seminal moment of Band Maid. Because their second album charted at #64, the record company was seriously considering disbanding the Ladies and switching them to other projects. (In fact they had Kanami and Akane work with Mochi to Cheese thinking that when Band Maid cratered they could use them in another band. MISA had also just started working with Mochi to Cheese as well). However about 6 months after the video's release, a Facebook page "JRock Radio" posted the video to their timeline. And the video went viral. Having over a million views in just a few short weeks. The Ladies Twitter page got so many hits they thought their page had been hacked. Their UA-cam channel also started getting more and more subscribers and views to Thrill. Now the ladies knew where their fans wanted them to go. Harder Rock, less pop. And history was Maid. If anyone has any questions, please feel free to ask. I and many other Maidiacs can be contacted through the Band-Maid Community Discord, which can be found through Ohrenje's youtube page.
Would have loved to be in Yokohama last night, what a show ! The live stream was great, but i'm tired, lol. I saw a post from Midori, her, Haruna & Asami saw the show. How cool would it have been to bump into them.😮😊 😏♥️🎙🎸🥁😎🤘
Welcome to the world of the Maids. This band is hard to pigeonhole as being metal or any other genre. They mix many kinds of rock to get their own sound. If I had had to put a label on their music I'd say Prog Metal. No that's not right . On 2nd thought id say their genre should be called Band Maid .
Take my advice and never listening to Band-Maid again. If you do, your whole musical life might be f..up. No more heavy metal for you! You will end up in the swamp of happy metal and whatever Band-Maid's own genre of awesomeness is called. Other band will soon fade out into the "not very interesting" category. I'm serious! We are so many Maidiacs who spent a lifetime playing music, listening to music and thought we heard it all. We thought we lost the joy of music, and suddenly here we are, fan-boying for the first time in our very long lifes.
Their name pretty much translates to Band of Maids. Band-Maid is shorter and sounds much better. These women are sick. Every single composition is damn near perfect. Everybody always gets their time to shine as well, even if it's not in the form of a solo (which there are many, even on the large majority of their tracklists of every album they've made so far). You've just fallen into the Pigeon hole. You'll definitely be happy you did if you aren't already. Added tidbit. More Band-Maid videos = more Band-Maid fans coming to your channel and possibly subscribing. There are so many reactors that have gotten a pretty nice chunk of likes and subscribers once they started upload Band-Maid reactions. Those viewers become Band-Maid fans as well as subscribers. It's a win for everyone.

(Saiki also had NEVER met Miku until then as well)
So the Ladies, went and did the performance and Saiki really, REALLY liked the crowds reaction and the music they were performing.
Then in 2015 they released "New Beginning"
On New Beginning was the song that changed Band Maid's entire existence. "Thrill"...
The band was getting ready to release their first music video and the choice was between "Love, Passion, Matador" and "Thrill" and the ladies chose Thrill. (Little known fact, Miku helped with the lyrics on Thrill but did not get credited)
This became the seminal moment of Band Maid.
How cool would it have been to bump into them.😮😊
😏♥️🎙🎸🥁😎🤘
🤘🤘🤘
I classify them as melodic hard rock.
You ain't seen anything yet with this band
Take my advice and never listening to Band-Maid again. If you do, your whole musical life might be f..up. No more heavy metal for you! You will end up in the swamp of happy metal and whatever Band-Maid's own genre of awesomeness is called. Other band will soon fade out into the "not very interesting" category. I'm serious! We are so many Maidiacs who spent a lifetime playing music, listening to music and thought we heard it all. We thought we lost the joy of music, and suddenly here we are, fan-boying for the first time in our very long lifes.
I think it would best if he did not take your advice and joined us in our happy hell.
He and everyone else are so welcome
The "worst" thing about Band-Maid is that they make all other music sound boring.
Band-Maid stands alone you will find they have only really good songs! Maybe at number 10 listen you will start to wonder "how tf do they do it"? 😊
