    Thanks for your honesty Sal. You've demonstrated why sampling first can be so important; even niche scents don't live up to the hype.

    Love your reviews.
    I tried Bois D’Iris and had to order a full bottle asap. On my skin I get a dry salty wood with a beautiful vanilla that’s not too sweet with a light make up powder. It’s beautiful!
    Yeah i was also not a fan of Blossom Love. The ameretto pulled too sickly sweet on my skin and I also got that weird baby wipe smell lol also tried Epic but the oud pulled too much on my skin that gave it a poopy vibe 😂 but I liked all the other notes! Too bad my skin didn’t jive with this oud.
    Awesome review , I love your honesty!

    Hi Sal, thank you for your honest review. It’s also really nice to hear you talk about the fragrances that haven’t been reviewed by others too. I agree with Amouage Blossom Love, i have the same reaction when I first tried it. I do like it better when it dries down tho, but I’m not really a fan of the opening. I actually think you will like Amouage Lilac Love tho, that one is my favorite and the bottle is gorgeous too lol. I hope you will like it if you get a chance to try that one 🥰

    Hello,from Amouage’s secret garden collection I’ll say Love Mimosas,Love Tuberose and Love Lilac are the winners from that collection and I own all four. Love Mimosas will always be in my collection.

    Nice video! It's good to hear your honest opinions, favorable ones or not. In Bois D'iris, I get mainly driftwood first (smells like pencil sharpener), then a lot of sweet beautiful iris later. Performance is not very great, but this is still one of my favorite iris scents. 💕

    Sally you are right. I,am French living in the US. I tried Amouage perfumes buying large decant. They stank. They are not prestige, but more and more people want to like niche but sometimes niche is not good . You should try Aerin perfume such as Hisbiscus Palm or Lilac path. They are expensive but no more than niche. They are beautiful.

    i recently blind purhcased a bottle of VC&A Bois d'Iris and it pulled very woody on me. Fragrantica says iris, then driftwood, then vanilla - I got TONS of driftwood almost akin to being in a sauna, then powderiness then the benzoin/vanilla. It actually made me feel a bit nauseated :(. The first blind buy from this house that didn't work out for me.

    • @SallyMarion

    I just bought Blossom Love, blind, at a big discount site. I just watched a review from a German woman who said it was her favorite Amouage and that it lasts for two days. I like strong fragrances. Yes, it’s very subjective, so I won’t get depressed, yet. Anyway, hope I like it. If not, I am sure I can sell it easily, for more than I paid for it. I am already happy with the middle eastern Swiss Arabian Sher La Sheila Rose Oud that is a well priced beast that I wear in fall/ winter. But, I guess, beast is not for you.
    Two middle eastern fragrances you might want to try, that have no Oud and are very popular gourmands, are Swiss Arabian Casablanca ( apple and caramel) and Florence ( strawberries and whipped cream). They are strong but won’t knock you over and can be worn anytime, day or night. They are great middle eastern starter fragrances and cater more to western tastes.
    I just found the perfect orchid vanilla scent, that lasts, for a vanilla; Mazzolari Vaniglia.
    I just wanted to add that Amouage Sunshine ( apricot, vanilla custard tart) and Lilac Love and Tuberose Love seem to be the most popular in the reviews on Utube and Frangatica websites.

      @SallyMarion  3 роки тому

      Hi Luba, thank you for watching :) how did you get on with blossom love? I think for me it was the suede note that I didn't get on with, I know others who really enjoy it though. Please bare in mind that I am no perfume expert and I don't have a very 'mature nose' when it comes to perfume as I am still new to it. I find a lot of fragrances from Amouage to be quite challenging to me as they are more complex than I am used to!

      I really enjoy Blossom Love. To me it’s flowers dipped in Amaretto. Frangatica was wrong on the notes. It dosen’t have suede but cashmerion instead which is a woody, musky scent.
      I bought niche fragrance because, although I enjoy some designers, the niches last much longer on my dry skin, which eats perfumes despite applying unscented ointment to pulse points before application. Also, in the designer world, so many fragrances have been watered down and discontinued.😡😤Anyway, keep getting samples. I am sure you will find one you like, eventually. It’s fun to explore.

    Hey, where did you buys these from? I'd LOVE to try the Bois d'iris (your description sounded amazing and those notes as well) and Chocolate greedy. Ive seen chocolate greedy on fragrantica and was interested, but I've never actually heard anyone talk about it and youve definitely sold me on it!! I love to buy samples to try and i was just on fragrancenet this morning picking out ones i want to try. Im actually getting 2 more vials of Roses Vanille because i love it so much but dont need another full bottle right now. I have more than enough full bottles, roller ball size and samples currently so ideally i need to chill on my purchases but it so hard!!! Oh well!!! Thanks for sharing and hopefully you can let me know where to get these!

      Hi! haha, thats so funny I've been feeling that way too (about not wanting to buy more full bottles). I bought these samples from Notino, they deliver worldwide as far as I'm aware, and they have loads of niche samples available :) yeah bois d'iris is such a nice sweet woody fragrance! and don't get me started on chocolate greedy lol

      @@SallyMarion Lol. Right? Why is it so hard to not want to buy new samples or just perfume in general. I have loved perfume since i can even remember. And i remember in 3rd grade i had like 7 bottles of perfumes and they were all from the drug store. Nothing fancy by any means but i was like 8. And any time I'd go to the mall with my family (I'm still talking grade school age) I had to stop at the perfume counter and smell perfumes. I'd inevitably spray one on and then when i got in the car my mom would chastise me because many perfumes give her headaches. Which i knew but couldnt seem to help myself. I was such a brat!! Anyway by the time i graduated from college i realized how many perfumes i had bottles of that would go bad before i could even use half of them. So many got thrown away because theyd gone bad because i would get bored of them. So i made a resolution to only get travel size sprsys/roller balls. And i held to that until the beginning of last yr. Thats when i started watching perfume vidoes on youtube. Lol. So now i have many full bottles. Probably a little more than i ever did. Plus at least 25 to 30 travel sprays that i keep ordering from Sephora. Its a real problem. I feel like an addict sometimes but i just tell myself its my hobby! Lol. Well thank you for that info im excited to check the website out. Hopefully they ship to the US. Not that i need another website for perfume shopping. Haha. Have you been to mycustomscent.com? They have a lot of popular niche and designer perfuume samples as well but i always forget about it. But one cool thing is you can make your own custom scent and its not that expensive for like a 2ml to try it out. You get to pick what group you prefer and then (i think) 5 notes. You get like 8 or so to choose from in that grouping. I got one and i wish i had gone to the spices group instead because after the fact i realized it had vanilla and cinnamon etc which i love!!! Some day ill do it again because it was fun and exciting to get in the mail. 😊

      I mostly get mine from Notino, they have lots of niche samples available there. However when it comes to designer scent samples, I really have no idea! I have mainly tried designer scents either by blind buying or sampling tester bottles in shops. I think The Simple Chic Life recently did a post on her community tab about this, and there are discussions in the comments about where everyone gets their samples so that might help you :)

    I'm quite confused by your Amouage Blossom Love review, i have this perfume and although is not on my top favourite fragrances, still a very beautiful perfume IMO. Blossom Love to me smells expensive, a warm/creamy fragrance, same style as Kenzo amour that i know you like so much, not fresh at all! Did you got your sample from a reputable source? I've heard there are many people selling fake Amouage samples on Ebay and other sites! BTW, i'm a big Amouage fan i recommend you to try Ciel Woman, Honour woman and Lilac Love, they are beautiful and easier to wear. ;-)

    • @SallyMarion
      @SallyMarion  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks for the recommendations! I think what’s throwing me about blossom love is maybe the amaretto note with the cherry blossom and the suede, unfortunately it’s just not for me. However, it does settle and become a bit smoother / creamier in the dry down. I suppose fragrance is just so subjective, what one person loves another might dislike, and different people may perceive fragrance differently. I did also read very mixed reviews of it on fragrantica, with many loving it and others not so much. ❤️

    • @mijnbook
      @mijnbook 3 роки тому

      @@SallyMarion totally understand, i just got confused about the "fresh" part because i consider BL a warm/creamy fragrance. It is like you said, fragrances are such a subjective matter so it's impossible for us to love the same things, that's (to me) is what makes fragrances such an interesting subject. I received my Roses Vanille from Mancera (bought after watching your review) and i love it, thanks! 😘

    OK. So you didn't like a scent. I think it is of great use to get opinions on matters. Most of us are mature enough to accept and process a dislike of a fragrance. We can hear contrasting opinions--it is stimulating. Not like you said 'this sucks' 'smells like roadkill' 'smells like poorly kept livestock'. I practice positive thinking as a tool--a powerful one. Like they say on TV you 'do you'. I understand your concern for being too negative, but I really like the 'lowdown' on things. Keep rockin' it.
