I read so many great books in 2024, but I think the number one is "I who have never known men". I read it months ago and still think about it all the time. Could not put it down and finished it at 4 am on a week night when I had to work the next day - it was worth it!
I bought two of Clarice Lispector’s books bcs of your recommendations and The Apprenticeship literally changed my life and made me fall in love with reading again so thank you ❤ I also bought Agua Viva (also incredible) and I can’t wait to read more of her books!!
My *Top Books of 2024* : 3. A Psalm for the Wild-Built by Becky Chambers 2. I Who Have Never Known Men by Jacqueline Harpman 1. Orbital by Samantha Harvey *And a few that would definitely make it onto a longer list* : It Lasts Forever and Then It's Over by Anne de Marcken The Six Deaths of the Saint by Alix E. Harrow The Measure by Nikki Erlick
I'm so glad to see Broder's Death Valley on this list. I was pleasantly surprised by her previous novel, Pisces, for it's bold writing style and protagonist that you love to hate. I still haven't gotten around to Death Valley but really want to read it (even more so now that I've heard your thoughts on it).
bought it lasts forever because of you and it also made my top 10!! if youre a fellow melissa broder fan (like me) try anna dorn, her book exalted was my number 1 of 2024 💙
If you love the concept of sentient homes & building carrying memories can I recommend North Woods by Daniel Mason - it’s a historical literary fiction novel that explores one house & everyone who lives in it over the course of a few hundred years, as well as how their stories all intertwine in the end x
i would love to read a clarice lispector, but i don’t know where to start ;-; do you have any recommendations, that are accessible? my number one book of the year was a beautiful german book about chronic and mental illness, friendship and writing. (weltalltage by paula fürstenberg for any german speaking girlies here) but my second favorite was my dark vanessa by elizabeth russel, that book 😖😵💫 it was intense
I started with Agua Viva (incredibly short but it’s very stream of consciousness so it depends if you already like that narrative), but Near to the Wild Heart is my favourite that I’ve read yet so I’d say that one!
martyr! and it lasts forever and then it’s over are two of my favorite books ever (found the latter because of you) 🫂 my favorite read(s) of 2024 were: beautyland (i think you would love!), thirst, and the invisible life of addie larue

Yesss I still think about TSH everyday!!!

Hi, my to book of 2024 was 'The Little Shop of Found Things' by Paula Brackston.
Pisces is the only one I’ve yet to read, so it’s definitely in my list for this year! Death Valley was such a trip (but a beautiful one)
My number 1 book was Welcome to the Hyunam-dong Bookshop ❤
I’ve heard such great things about this one!
my number one favorite was the island of missing trees by elif shafak!! otherwise, I also read hunger games - mockingjay which was also a favorite
All such great reads! ⭐️

Hour of the star by Clarice is a really good one!
I started with Agua Viva (incredibly short but it’s very stream of consciousness so it depends if you already like that narrative), but Near to the Wild Heart is my favourite that I’ve read yet so I’d say that one!
