I started following your advises a month ago and I just hit my first 10000 impressions in one video! thank you so much for the help! I started posting SEO videos 2x a month and I'm just starting to see the results and I'm so excited! thank you thank you!!!
Oh My Gawwwd!!! My "SOMEDAY" Self This is absolutely the most accurate description of every failed goal or habit I've ever had! Eventually I would figure out something that worked FOR ME. But if I would've started from this frame of reference, I would've gotten there so much fuckin sooner and way less struggle!!! I legit think I'm going to make an entire video on this concept. Thank you!!!!!
Consistency is actually my biggest setback to start doing UA-cam videos! As someone with executive function issues, the tip of having my gear readily accessible as well as having my digital ressources organized was spot on! I gotta look into organizing those! Thanks!
Hey - this was my biggest hurdle in getting started. And while I'm still new to it, a few things that have helped me every week is leaving my tripod and light stands in the exact same spot. I'd love to be more versatile in my shot choices and move around. But that's the difference in me starting a video and not starting. If you have an area where you can leave some of your gear set up, then give it a try. I've also just created folder and project templates for editing. So everything is in the same location and easier to access - avoid getting flustered during the edit. It's really tough. But when you have the capacity, spend a bit of time improving things that will help your workflow. My office space is kind of not as clean as a result, but it's way more functional for me and how my brain works. You've got this ❤
I've been wanting to create my own UA-cam channel for 10 years but never felt like I could do a good enough job (perfectionist). Your videos have encouraged me to just start where I'm at. Thank you
I work as an Amazon delivery driver when I’m not doing UA-cam video (filming & editing) and I use that time by myself to brainstorm ideas and such…. It helps tremendously to have list so that your mind isn’t blank when you go to film 👌🏽🙌🏽
Hola, Katie! I am a teacher. I retired last year, and now here I am... watching you teaching on point. Right on! I am trying to convince myself to open my own channel. Oh, boy! I'll keep on. Enjoying yout tips. Thanks!❤
My way of doing it is just make my uploads scheduled ahead of time in a time period twice what it takes to produce. I can record, edit and upload a video a day.... so I make the schedule a video EVERY OTHER DAY. that way I can get ahead. I'm 8 weeks ahead at the moment so I can take a brake whenever I want and only technically have to work half the days a year. easy I never miss an upload cuz they are already done and scheduled weeks ahead of time :)
I absolutely loved this video! Your point about treating UA-cam like a habit really hit home for me. I never thought about planning my content schedule based on my real life instead of some dreamy version of myself-now I get why my plans were always unrealistic! Also, the idea of having an organized content idea database is a game changer. I’m always scrambling for ideas, and I can’t believe I hadn’t thought of that. Keeping my filming gear easily accessible is such a logical tip, too-I’ve wasted so much time searching for my stuff. Lastly, I totally agree about taking time offline. It's easy to get wrapped up in the numbers, but stepping away can really help recharge creativity. Thanks for sharing such useful advice!
Super impressive that you can create YT Videos in a 500 sq studio apartment with 2 people. You've inspired me to rethink my layout since I have a 12x12 office that I can leave setup all the time.
Consistency is the key to everything in life! You are totally correct. I start a year ago my channel. Over the summer I stopped, and now I am back on. What I learn is if I just made that time over the summer for 1 video a week, I could of be better from where I stopped. It took me time to restart with the videos and the habit of talking. Now with full time, job, full time mom and a full time student, I make the time to make and post 1 video a week. It is hard, but by doing that I have a whole week to try and edit the video. I am so goad that I found your channel! ❤
Careful Katie - chargers and batteries generate heat. You know this. They don’t need much but they need more ventilation than they can get inside an IKEA cabinet. Keep some air moving through and you’re ok. No moving air at all… not great. Especially in summer, slight heat can build into bigger heat. Don’t get any nasty surprise from that. Love your UA-cam name and congrats on your sudden 10x spike!
Hi Katie - I quickly adopted the 'Make a note of that idea' strategy with my channel. I have a program on my PC called Simply Sticky Notes ( no affiliate link just a great free resource) that are digital post-its. I too brain storm ideas and watch other creators and when an idea hits its on my desktop sticky notes. You can even cut and paste from websites - who knew - I also use the YT community tab and have a list of ideas from viewers - who better to ask than the folk I make videos for! Great video Katie 😎😎
“Silly little mental health” threw me off Chile!! But I stuck with the video, it took me a whole moment to get into the video because of that one sentence tho, and I’m glad I did. Good tips
This was a great reminder for me to try to really plan more as I build my new channel. I've definitely put being consistent above everything else and have shot and edited all in one day which was hella-stressful and I'm sure my content suffered. Thank you, Katie, for your tips on organizing all the things as well!
Thank you so much Katie for the inspiration and the ideas ! Being consistent is something I always strive for but struggle sometimes to actually do , this definitely helps a lot
Katie!! This video has been super informative and very helpful! I’m struggling to start my UA-cam channel starting with getting a good schedule going and trying to also keep up with other social platforms is overwhelming hence preventing me from starting at all. But this video was eye opening and I feel a new strategy coming to fruition! Thanks so so much! Forever a fan ♥️🎉
Katie! You are such a legend, and I love how fast your channel has been growing. You really deserve this! Thanks for another great tutorial! Wishing you a beautiful Tuesday! ❤
Thank you for this; I’m managing a full time job while trying to grow my channel and honestly it’s been very challenging and CONSISTENCY is my main obstacle. I will definitely incorporate some of your advice, the part on digital organisation was very useful!
Katie.. I’ve been watching your channel for a while and am always inspired by what you share.. thank you! Your personality is so cute and you bring a calm and peaceful vibes to your content. Also.. that shower bit made me laugh!
I love your videos because I am a reseller and the resellers with big followings aren't very creative, but they got here years ago. You inspire me to be creative and don't do what other resellers are doing, but what I am called to! I love your style of videos and the content you share!
What you say at the beginning is so relevant! I really struggle setting time apart for content creation but what you said made me feel relieved, knowing that it gets easier, that you create the habit eventually if you push it enough at the beginning. Sometimes I feel bad, I think maybe I don't want this enough because I don't set much time for it even if I do have time as I work a 9-5 and I'm "free" the rest of the time. You don't only give good technical advise but what you said is super useful and can be applied in other areas of life. Thank you for what you do!!
Thanks! I am a very organized person in whatever it is but creation videos. The funny part that I love making videos, I'm good at reels and shorts, but those long videos sometimes keep kick me in my sitting area🤗 so thanks again for inspiration!
Thank you for your videos! They’re super informative and interesting to watch! I’m new to making a UA-cam channel and will be implemented a lot of your advice 😊❤
Yes my biggest set is that my gear is never readily accessible 😅 no matter how organized I get, I can never keep my camera gear that way!!! It’s a problem I have for sure 😅
I just love "Your silly little walk for your silly little mental health."🤣 It's like I got an unexpected glimpse of your sense of humor--made me like you even more!
Yes ma’am shower, sleep, and right now….about to cook and watch and think/brainstorm. But really today should be the day because I’m Home alone and it rarely happens. Smh
Thank you for this video. I really appreciate your organization and quick tips. Some are so simple but massively effective! This may be a dumb question but how do you do the circle cut out at the bottoms when you show your screen so we see your face simultaneously. Is this a program or just an edit you do in premiere?
Okay, so you're just awesome! I've been going through all your stuff like I'm in school lol! I've commented before and I'll say again. Thank you Thank you!!
I love the breakdown of the content creation schedule that suited your reality. I need that for my Podcast (which also gets posted on YT), I have to get it done around my actual client work and always seem to be doing it all on a Sunday at the last minute before uploading and then I need a couple of days off from that and I end up in the same situation the next week. 😂
Your organization helped set me up for so much more success I appreciate your transparency and leading through how you arrange folders on your harddrive >333333
Love the insights! confession: my fave way to start my day is with my emails open and listening to your tips in the background. Like hello these are gold!
Katie this was a extremely helpful video. I have fallen into some of the traps you've mentioned. I'm a night owl at times I said I'm going to get up super early and do this or that. Yeah that never seems to work.
Was the 'silly little walk for your silly little mental health' a Hank Green reference or was that around before he said it the other day? Either way I love it and should start use it myself haha!!
Thank you for this video! I’m trying to be consistent as a small UA-camr with other jobs and obligations and it’s so hard not to constantly obsess or stress about UA-cam. It’s truly a full time job in itself
Thank you Katie, I appreciate your videos so much! Would love to hear more about how to measure success when starting a new channel (analytics wise). How to know when something is working but could be working way better and how to test that without having a channel that is too all over the place, thanks in advance for any insights!
Heyyy… if I am storing n organizing my digital resources with a phone… after editing and posting that folder should it be deleted pls??? I struggle with this is to delete or not for storage capacity reason
i find it extremely hard to be consistent. i make art videos so filming cannot be done in just one day. takes about a week for that. and then there's editing- which i'm new to and often underestimate, usually takes me twice the time than i initially planned for it.

Consistency isn't my issue at all, making all the elements come together is. My camera is useless with out this or that downloaded app!!! Since that is so hard to coordinate...using my phone to film is the consistency thing right now. So far I'm doing free apps, but I haven't been able to add my cam videos to my YT channel I have Canva, you tube studio, and a couple others...STILL unable to get my videos from PC to channel. SO F-ing frustrating. So yeah, ideas are NOT the problem. Learning editing and uploading is.

Just creating my own channel at 60! 😊 Thanks so much for your transparency. It’s SO refreshing!
Wow, you"re motivating me, i"m 34 and i want to start You Tube channel but I was feeling like I"m so old and late in the game
52 and love learning how to make my channel grow. It’s been a fun challenge ❤

haha I was being sarcastic, doing stuff for your mental health is very important 🙏🏻 that's why I keep going on those walks!

You are such a gift to the social media landscape. Thank you so much for your content!
This was both *practical & helpful!* I will use this for my channel. Thank you Katie! 😀
I think being consistent is the hardest part! Because not everyday is the same in life.
Love your UA-cam videos!
I get the feeling of self doubt when I watch it look at content in similar niches as me. Probably should take a break from that.
Katie!! This video has been super informative and very helpful! I’m struggling to start my UA-cam channel starting with getting a good schedule going and trying to also keep up with other social platforms is overwhelming hence preventing me from starting at all.

I just love "Your silly little walk for your silly little mental health."🤣 It's like I got an unexpected glimpse of your sense of humor--made me like you even more!
I grabbed this from the end screen of your video 😀 Thank you for being a real human and not a gimmick sales person. ❤🐾
How do you get around camera overheat? I have the same camera and sometimes on longer videos it overheats 😢
Currently started my own channel Thank you for the Detailed video!
Thank you! Just what I needed!
For a 1st time content creator would you recommend starting with my phone (14 pro max) or investing in a camera
Thanks, Katie! I’ve been “stuck” on a schedule I made up and it really isn’t working. I need to rearrange things like you did. I appreciate you!

I do village life vlogs in Africa and this is true 100% >>

Would you recommend zv-1 or Zve-10?
can you please help how can I know if I'm adding the right hashtags because I don't know and struggle a lot with it
I’m 37 and I started my channel about Japan this year. I’m really committed. I don’t have a lot of followers though 🧐
Wow! I'm actually very impressed by the simplicity of these steps lol. When you're saying them out loud it makes so much sense. Thanks for sharing!
This came at a great time. I love the blocking idea, I need to set a day of the week where I post. Thanks for the inspiration!
This was sooo helpful. Thanks Katie❤
Who do you use for your online Spanish course?
I’m trying thanks u
KATIE - the "someday self" - YES! Thank you for this brilliantly encouraging video, I love watching your stuff and it always helps. xx
What do you mean by "brand review"?
Love watching your vids, quick Q, i cant seem to get into notion at all, what do you find helpful about it?❤
Was the 'silly little walk for your silly little mental health' a Hank Green reference or was that around before he said it the other day? Either way I love it and should start use it myself haha!!
hehe I've just heard that phrase a lot on tiktok, I think it's a bit of a meme! so it wouldn't surprise me if Hank said it as well 😅
@@katie aaaah I never go on TikTok so I'm always out of the loop 🙈
What camera are you using in this video? Do you have an affiliate link for it ? 😀
I filmed this with my Sony ZVe-10 and sigma 16mm lens (both are linked at katiesteckly.com/faves and in the description!)
I wonder if can I post videos without make sure about SEO strategy?
I feel like if I do, can be waisted of time.
Thank you for this video! I’m trying to be consistent as a small UA-camr with other jobs and obligations and it’s so hard not to constantly obsess or stress about UA-cam. It’s truly a full time job in itself
i agree with you,it is the best way to build our channel
I can relate!
Thank you Katie, I appreciate your videos so much! Would love to hear more about how to measure success when starting a new channel (analytics wise). How to know when something is working but could be working way better and how to test that without having a channel that is too all over the place, thanks in advance for any insights!
that is such a great question! let me think about that - I feel like there could be a whole video on how to know if you're on the right track :)
That would be amazing! Thanks for considering this idea Katie, much appreciated!
Thank you Katie for creating such a great content again. You are truly inspirational! Love this!
You are brilliant. When you end your videos, you suggest one of yours to click next and next.
Heyyy… if I am storing n organizing my digital resources with a phone… after editing and posting that folder should it be deleted pls??? I struggle with this is to delete or not for storage capacity reason
This content reminds me of the book, Tiny Habits by BJ Fogg ❤
Excellent tips Katie!
Tnqq for sharing 💖💖
How long did it take for your analytics to look like that ? I just started back my channel. I don’t see videos on my UA-cam studios yet
i find it extremely hard to be consistent. i make art videos so filming cannot be done in just one day. takes about a week for that. and then there's editing- which i'm new to and often underestimate, usually takes me twice the time than i initially planned for it.
Love this! Living with a chronic illness, batch recording helps a ton! And I’ve created a schedule to post, including not posting on weekends to focus on family.
not my silly little mental health 🤣that made me laugh so HARD!
Same 😂
Great insights for setting yourself up for success. I liked it all, especially the storage for hard and software parts. Thanks.
Love all the b-roll you added in this one! Ur vids are so fun to watch
yay I definitely put some extra effort into this one with the visuals so I'm glad it was noticed!!
Thank you so much 😮❤
The gems in this video are unmatched! 💎
thank you so much!
Katie, we need your youtube course with all the organization, and your workflow details!! Awesome video as usual.
I love your work, Katie! I recently recommended your channel to my friend who is planning to start a youtube channel. I know first hand how helpful your channel is for newbie youtubers ❤ Thank you!!!
This video came right on time. I've been looking for something like this and you made it! 🙌🏾

@@katie Thank you for the reply. What about storage space? Do I need more than 256 GB?
Informative & Funny! Loved the shower head!
u deserve to have a million subs.
I'm in love with the intro. But how 😂
