  • Future Thinkers Smart Village is becoming a reality! Learn more at www.futurethinkers.org/village
We have found a new, large 400 acre property with the right zoning, infrastructure and everything else we could need to make the village happen. The property has a RV camp with 80 accommodation spots, a private lake, two creeks, large forest, even a golf course, and the closest airport is just a two hour drive from there.
In this episode we want to share with you where we are right now with this project, as well as our plans and visions for how the smart village would look like on this new location.
In This Episode of Future Thinkers:
    - Why we are creating the Smart Village and what problems we are solving with it
    - How converging technologies can make rural living enjoyable and practical
    - The benefits of a regenerative village for health, family and community life
    - The opportunity for sustainable, affordable and innovative housing
    - Whole systems design and its connection with biomimicry, permaculture and indigenous thinking
-The eight pillars of whole systems design
    - The opportunity for experimenting with social organization, business structures, economy and investing
    - What kind of mentality it takes to live in a smart village
    - The three things that make intentional communities fail
    - Why we need a network of regenerative villages all over the world

I HAVE BEEN SEARCHING FOR THIS❤❤❤❤ I will dedicate the next chapters of my life to this! I think I just found the right place/community - a place where you want to work 16h a day , not with this 'you have to' feeling

"You can go hunting..." That would be a major plot twist right there... 😂

Very interesting ideas. I love that you guys mentioned hempcrete because I never hear it mentioned anywhere, even though it's such a promising building material. It's really quite baffling to me that we have all these sustainable, cheap, and frankly, cool, methods/materials of building houses, but it's all largely being ignored in favor of conventional building materials (at least in the U.S.)
Also, the integration of technology as opposed to the flat-out rejection of it is key. I used to be one of those people that just wanted to escape and reject modern society, but I realized that I was fighting a losing battle and in the end I didn't really get what I wanted. I only further isolated myself. After reading a lot of Ken Wilber, I've come to the same conclusion that you guys have; that we can't just reject these things because they have a dark side, but that in order to transcend we need to integrate these things in the most responsible way possible. I have grown very fond of the idea of mixing high-tech with low-tech, both in the Steampunk novels that I read (haha) and in the practical ways I live my life. So I love that you guys are doing just that.
Anyway, good luck with the endeavor! I wish you two all the best.

Another great material is bamboo; it grows very fast, can be made into a variety building materials and also exudes 30% more Oxygen than trees !

Very, very cool. Hopefully the disc golf course at Wells Gray is kept as an environmentally friendly, low cost recreation option for your village!

I would suggest learned of other eco-villages for reference. OUR ecovillage on Vancouver Island publishes online videos, and Dancing Rabbits in Missouri, both around for over 20 years. I highly appreciate your perspective on higher tech. My largest concern is keeping an internet connection going, for an global eco-village network, as Bill McKibben suggests. In case the world goes sideways, and good place to be would be in an ecovillage.

I like that you've embraced the proto-B concept. Realistically that's the only way game B principles can be sustainable. Even the monasteries and nunneries found that to be true.

Looks great. I hope it all goes through this time. Definitely a place to hit the ground running with. Hopefully some time in the future when this pandemic settles down we could come and Visit from Australia. Would dearly love to have a village like this to be a part of in our area. I love the pragmatic, tech inclusive approach which unfortunately is not super prevalent in alternative communities. All the best, from the home of permaculture, Hobart, Tasmania, Australia.

Hi, I luve your ideas and I think that you should engage more with people that is really regenerating lands and creating farm wealth besides creating resilient and regenerative forms of oroduction and living...A golf course is the most wasting and unsustainable thing you can have...Otherwise I think that blending people that think with people that think and know how to feed themselves and others is the way to go...

Hempcrete or hemp blocks are great, but where can you buy them?
Micro hydro too, but have you done a feasibility study on your creeks to see how much power output you can produce?

Haaha The Wef has indeed the same ideas. I m not so into the Wef but i think these guys have good ideas. I just think not everyone is into the idea of sharing things or living together. Maybe the younger generation is more into this.
