To be clear: The company is currently not working at full capacity due to covid outbreak. They had planned a 2022 release but it has been pushed back till at least January 29, 2023, a week after January 22 chinese new year holiday. Showz, tfsource, and Bombusbee are estimating February 2023 for mass consumer release. The cyber key is a preorder bonus from the distributor not affiliated with TR. Showz and Bombusbee will get it thru their distributor. The review copies will differ from final versions, taking away redundant tabs.
Hey that’s fine with me. Just another check or 2 to hit the account. To me it’s good news. At least the product copy is looking spectacular @primevsprime thanks for the new review.
I still have mine outside of a box, he never gone into storage, he one of my favourte OP figures, thou I tend to keep the panels on the side of his head, folded back, but I keep the face plate up regardless of modes!
I can hear Gary Chalk say "Our worlds are in danger. To save them and the galaxy we must find the four cyber planet keys before the decepticons can use them for evil. It is our mission."
This is definitely a faithful update to the OG toy. The OG toy was already reasonably show accurate to begin with, and this just made it even more so. I have the Siege Galaxy Upgrade too, so glad I got it at retail, the price for it now is insane.
Because many people may be wondering: There is a + shaped slot where the side windows were that the arms will fit into. It is *not* spring loaded and *not* compatible with leobreaker. If TR were to implement savage claw mode they'd have to design an all new peg and it would fit into the slot by friction alone. Even then there is no way to implement savage claw and super mode at the same time due to backpack not allowing one arm to fold back. Magmotion featured a video comparing TR02 with sonic wing mode. Promising, because there is nothing really stopping sonic wing mode from happening except there is no way to attach gun heels to the super mode feet.
Just got my release copy. All of the fingers disintegrated after my initial transformation. This figure came with a little baggy containing 10 replacement figures that seem to be made of sturdier plastic, but it was still shocking and frustrating having to replace them all first thing out of the box. Also, I'm so glad I watched how you transformed him into super mode, I didn't trust those thin black "backpack straps" to not break, but extending the shoulders like that did the trick! Overall, an amazing looking figure, I'm just sad I have to worry about the durability of the plastic.
I have the OG cybertron optimus prime. On the OG, the little crotch plate actually does softly lock the chest in during vehicle mode which is nice. The transformation is very similar to the OG, but with just a little variation.
The OG is the most accurate because the show was based off the toys. However, you can see huge liberties had to be taken with the animation to provide realistic proportions and movement.
I have the original Cybertron optimus prime, and it remains one of my favorite transformers all these years later. Only issue I ever had was the super mode had a clip crack, but it still functions as normal. One thing I wonder how Show Z will handle is the Leobreaker and Saber combine modes.
Still own, and absolutely love the original Cybertron Prime toy. It's big, durable, and still display worthy. Only nitpick I had then was the unpainted Cyber Key which was call in a blue transparent plastic. This third party rerelease definitely does this toy justice, and the paint aps all around are spot as are the colors. Interesting differences. The original I believe lit up as well as fired missiles. 3 in total, and the feet had a spring joint of sorts to extend them for the commander mode. Really surprised how well this toy has held up over the years with no breakage issues whatsoever.
I remember reading once that the unicron trilogy animation models were made in close association with the toy designs. If that is indeed the case, its unsurprising that a very good amount of screen accuracy is possible for these recent 3rd party toys without terribly complex transformations, since the designs were specifically made to make that possible. The really complex 3rd party transformations are often a product of the general sloppiness of the G1 animation, or the complexity of the live action animation (and if TFP or Earthspark ever get 3rd party toys they'll be in a similar place)
I love the original version which i still have in combined mode with star saber, is really a straight foward clone with some twist and a lot of diecast and it looks insanely beautiful.
Chanels like your keep my love for transformers alive, I can no longer collect right now, priorities go first but damn, the toys are really amazing these days, especialy 3rd party. armada was my introduction to the series, and cybertron prime has got to be one of the coolest optimus design ever.
1:56 I used to own the Galaxy Force redeco of the original figure, but it’s right arm broke off when I tripped and fell down the basement stairs of my house while trying to carry it to my room.
The OG Cybertron figure was my absolute favorite. My mom had actually sold it at some point during my teens and I was devastated. About a decade later (last year) I found it again at a Frank N Sons near me. The exact same one. Since my dad put my name on all my toys 😂😂
Hopefully this can spark ideas in other third party companies heads about getting more unicron trilogy and maybe tf animated characters from them, it would be great to see some of the characters we never got to see as figures from animated
Cybertron Optimus Prime had a mouth as an homage to Optimus Primal (as they were both voiced by Garry Chalk)! His face mask was only deployed in Super Mode!
This version is everything and a little more than what I thought it would be. I had the original version so he is faithful to the original version. It does have so new tweeks to it. I am going to be on the lookout for this Optimus prime for definite. Great review as aways I look forward to seeing your next one.
Damn it's about time they made another toy for this Prime. I recently picked up the original toy and it is without the doubt the best Optimus Prime figure that I own.
I reaaaallllyyyyy want to see a remake of Megatron from this series. This series.has some of my favorite designs of all time for both Optimus and Megatron. Still have both the originals put up safely
This is 99% of the exact transformation of the original. Even the tabs. You definitely should of showed the other modes they were essential to the show. Oh well I'll stick with my original but this one looks great no doubt. Doesn't look as "fun" as the og though & that has all the joints beyond maybe thigh swivels. I can't remember but yeah he had Gary Chalks voice too so it made sense that he looked like primal. He came after BW of course great review bro
Still got my original Cybertron Optimus Prime, and this is pretty cool in comparison. Bits I like: the diecast in the legs, the feet and fingers articulation is better, the wheels that make the hip skirts have better maneuverability, and the jetpack section looks less bulky than the original. Things to improve upon imo: the Matrix doesn't look as accurate to the show as the original Matrix in the original toy, I prefer the little lever in the back of the head on the original to bring up the battle mask instead of flipping the face up and around, and there's no slot for the unique designed Cyber Key in the main weapons on the jetpack. Things I don't like: the waist section compared to the original looks a bit less stable despite providing much better maneuverability than the original, and if I'm being picky I prefer the head sliding up on a slider like on the original toy (but the cover on the back is so much cleaner!) and if the company were to produce their versions of Leobreaker and Wingsaber, I'm not sure how well those would combine - the toys were almost completely identical in-hand compared to how they combined in the show. Overall: an 8.5 out of 10, borderline 9 out of 10. This is a superb update to the original figure released from the show, with minor nitpicks to complain over, but this featured is only a sample piece so it will continue to get better. Will the final figure released be worth the asking price? Probably.
The transformation is nearly identical to the original. I had the Wingsaber combo pack growing up and I regret selling it when I was younger. Easily one of my favorite figures I owned
So, much like the MP Datsuns & Hot Rod, this guy's just the original Galaxy Force/Cybertron toy with extra steps. Nice!! (If I weren't so hellbent on tryna get the Eagle KOs of Thundercracker and Skywarp, I'd gladly drop that idea to get this behemoth!!)
the og cybertron prime had the key insert into those lader things in vehicle mode which could cause flashing lights in the one that opens and closes akin to a croc/alligator or those 2 bits within the other ladder part can pop out via a spring also dont know if he had lights and sounds or not, his wheels weren't rubber per ray but he still rolled really well, and he was a hefty boi (not nearly as much as metroplex mind you) also idk if the one in this videp can combine with leobreaker or that other one for either savage claw mode or sonic wing mode
The only concern I had with TR-02 CoS was the fact that the arms that attached to the cannons were too long or even uneccessary when in robot mode and flight vehicle mode. And while there was no way to recreate the cannon opening gimmick on the left cannon from the show, the mechanism looked powerful enough to open the outer "jaws" of the cannon
I have the Japanese re-deco which is black instead of blue and I'm missing the feet pieces for the super mode feet which is needed for the truck mode, and I love it. Though I would have liked it to be blue because it looks better.
Very nice figure. I had the Original back when I was a kid. I made the stupid mistake of bringing it to school one day and someone stole it. Maybe one day i'll pick this guy up. I'd like to see this company do a Cybertron Galvatron figure since they did a good job with Optimus
The original figure is arguably the best Optimus Prime toy. A great size, is pretty posable even by today's standards, and most of the gimmicks are in the jetpack so their's no compromises to the core robot mode. Plus all the other bots that powerlink with that further adds to the playability. Completely badass toy, see if you can find it.
I love this design I just never understood why he gets no add-on pieces for the arms. He gets longer and thicker legs, new wings and everything, but the arms stay the same size, it kinda disrupts his proportions.
They could not without changing proportions of the cab. The cab is made of the arms tucked in. The legs and the wings make up the rear of the truck and can be lengthened without impacting the silhouette too much.
At first glance this looks like a very cheap toy. Then after your review I think it's a very nice cheap toy. It's got articulatable fingers, and the all needed ab crunch. The feet look good too.👍great review job 👏
It's cheaper than Fans Hobby Naval Commander or Energy Commander but TR02 didn't need to be as expensive. Star Commander doesn't have a trailer that turns into a battle station or stores other vehicles, he simply detaches from his super mode parts which can form a turret.
Finally. FINALLY, I HAVE FOUND IT! Context: So, a LONG time ago, back when I was four, my second-oldest brother, Matt, used to have this exact figure. Him and my dad would never let me play with it, since they were (key word; "were") planning on selling it, and I hadn't seen it often since then... Until yesterday, when I went into the closet of my brother, Seth's room, and upon a shelf within, there it was, almost complete. It's got EVERYTHING (I think), except functioning electronics, since the batteries that were (and, as a matter of fact, still are) in there are all busted and stuff, but, hey, it's got the matrix of leadership, so that's all that matters, heh heh.
As someone who owned the original back in the day when Zellers was around, I can safely tell you that the original is fucking gigantic. A lot more robust with a tighter, blockier aesthetic. Not nearly as dynamic-looking as this 3P version but still hefty and incredibly durable, well-articulated, etc. The two main guns on the original were also mounted on the wings in one specific way such that they would point upward in super-mode and only able to come under-arm *from* beneath the wing. Otherwise, everything else seems the same. I do like how model-accurate this 3P is though. The OG figure was not accurate as far as having a neck, wrists, etc. goes.
I think the original did the galaxy upgrade mode better. The wing span is positioned too high and the guns default positions is supposed to be flipped up not down. Plus this figure is a bit too lean in the upgrade mode. I think he needs a bit more added bulk
The guns were flipped down on purpose before attaching the backpack because they allegedly "got in the way". There is a way to keep them up throughout by manipulating the double jointed bars they are on.
The balls on this company are made of steel for slapping that autobot logo on the planet key. Respect and hope Hasbro's lawyers don't fire the 150mm Cease and Desist gun
This looks pretty cool, thou I feel they are adding some extra steps that could easily be scrapped for the final product, such as how his shoulder work with the back pack, thou I doult I'll get him, I wouldn't mind if Hasbro took another shot at him but at a commander price point, this verison, its transformation is 99% the same as the original with a few minor and pointless changes
Shame it didn't come with his Cyber-Key. A minor inconvenience at most, however. Maybe one day we'll get Leo Breaker and Wing Sabre for Sonic Wing and Savage Claw Modes. I wonder if the two modes can be used at once. Now, wouldn't THAT be something interesting?

almost mid March and it still hasn't came out , bombusbee did say either mid or late march but will see
@DrenX 87 it came out late March. Bombusbee and TFsafari have it rn.
I have the original Cybertron version, in a box in my closet like ten feet away. I loved that toy, it's so good. Was my go to Optimus for ages.
Oh wow that’s awesome! I wish I had the OG to compare
Oh ,man, I have also
I loved that one too. That figure is still better than most of the OP that came out afterwards (in my opinion).

You say "show-accurate" but truth is the CGI models were carefully designed to match the toys.
What show is this prime from exactly???? I've been looking around to try and find it but no luck at all
@@_Vegtio_72322 Transformers Cybertron. Not quite peak TF but it's got charm for sure.
@@CapnShades oh wow sweet !!! I gotta check it out thank you so much !!!! Even if its not peak I definitely wanna see that optimus in action !
@_ Vegito _ if you haven't watched it yet this prime is a powerhouse and has been ranked as one of the most powerful

I have the OG cybertron optimus prime. On the OG, the little crotch plate actually does softly lock the chest in during vehicle mode which is nice. The transformation is very similar to the OG, but with just a little variation.

Compared to a lot of the other OP figures, that's not too bad. Hasbro had a lot of QC issues since Cybertron.
Really looking forward to posing him alongside Maketoys Galaxy Meteor
Really hoping Transform and Rollout make a Megatron to go with him
The leader Master Megatron from Hastak was already near perfect although a new representation of him would be good for transfans who don't have one.

Imagine if they’ve done Angrybirds Transformers
Lol I still have mine downstairs with Leo breaker attached thinking about selling the collection
wish he could do the savage claw mode
The balls on this company are made of steel for slapping that autobot logo on the planet key. Respect and hope Hasbro's lawyers don't fire the 150mm Cease and Desist gun
I’m thought about Optimus don’t have see in any combiner? For Wing Saber and Leobreaker????
Wait it is supposed to come with one. One channel showcases this.
@@ZERO-Shinkai Yeah right.
I know I'm asking too much for the time being, but I'll likely wait to see the final price, and be too late to pre-order by then!
My big brother and I own the old version of cybertron Optimus prime
You think we will get any of the recolors of this mold that existed?
Galaxy Force Optimus? Hot Zone? Menasor?
I am honestly not so sure. I guess it depends on how well this sells
If they do a Nova Prime it will be extremely hard for me to resist it.
What about Megatron?
This thing is awesome
